Kayak This! Hiawassee River, Reliance Tennessee!

Reliance Tennessee is one of my favorite places in the world. This video is worth your time, because it's like stepping back in time! At the same time, reliance is unique in that it's powerhouse helps to provide the region with electricity. Most people go to the Smokies for their "Mountain Fix." But people who have been to Reliance in Polk County Tennessee will tell you, this historical area is a secret getaway that's second to none.

Thanks for the great video. I have been visiting the area since I was sixteen. I love the river and met Mr. and Mrs. Webb and Oliver when I was 16. Oliver would not talk much at first but after I visited many times he would talk to me. That was around 1971. The Hiwassee River is one of my oldest friends. I only know two people outside my family, that I am friends with, longer than I have been paddling the Hiwassee River.
