I’m turning 47 this year and I feel like I’m too old to get into fishing serious and entering tournaments out of my kayak. However, I just want to let you know that you’re a huge inspiration and I thank you for taking the time to put these KZbin videos together. I’m going to get my things in order to fish the 2023 season and hopefully be fishing against you and others of your caliber. Tight lines!

I'm a 66-year old female who fishes from a solo canoe. It's great to watch another woman catching bass. I like your commentary too. My best morning in 2022 was 57 bass, but to reach that pond, I had to carry my canoe through the woods.

Awesome job! On them lily pads though I think I would've tried sliding a weightless power worm off in the middle of those pads and let if fall down the holes very methodically. It looked like it held more fish further back in the pads. I love to fish the edges as well but sometime there down in there .

Were you wacky worming or just straight retrieve with a weightless worm? I’ve learned more from you this season than I have from all the others combined. What I enjoy so much is how you methodically figure out what they are doing when your first plan doesn’t work out. Never panic, just persevere. Great lesson that can be applied to all aspects of life. Hope you had a great time this past weekend. I so wanted to be there, but didn’t hear about it until too late to prepare. Next year! Should be interesting to see what the big tournaments do on Rayburn this year. We had high water (10 ft high) from January to late summer. There are no grass beds left. It’s like fishing a completely different lake. One other question, were you in the river or just a narrow cove?

I usually fish alot of pads, grass, heavy cover. At times I miss 4 or 5. Instead of a great day, I only have a good day, 6 or 7 Bass. Knowing that misses are part of the game helps. I also love fishing my Spinnerbait on the edges and openings and catch alot of Bass that way.

Off Subject- I went to look at some Kayaks this weekend. I noticed a few that were fitted with small motors. Are motors allowed on your vessel during Kayak Tournaments? Also what is your feelings on Kayaks and motors? Thank, great Post, keep them coming.

A few tournaments allow them but most don’t. My personal opinion is I’d rather have them not be allowed. It’s kayak fishing and should be physically demanding

Congratulations on a great finish! Next time try a Johnson Silver Minnow with a white twister tail as a follow up bait to the frog. That is one of my go to baits when the bass are striking short in the pads or seem to need glasses. You can skip it over the top & drop it down in the holes. Very few people use it anymore & the bigger fish can't leave it alone. If you use it & win I want a shout out!

I am with you I do well in lilly pads on the outside edges and when there are good lanes to cast down but super thick pads have been tough for me even when flipping them just don't get to do it that much as the places I fish do not have a lot of lilly pads in them more grass and laydowns which I do really well at. Great video always love your tournament recaps!
