I haven't watched the video yet, but I've seen that you have a islander kayak, I just bought a islander voro because is the only light stable kayak I can find in the UK market, unfortunately I find that is a bit to slow. So if you have any recommendations for a light any faster kayak I will be very grateful. Thanks and I can't wait to see your new video later today. Ciao

That's because it's a balancing act; stable kayaks are always slower than unstable ones because it's width that gives you your stability and thus increases the water resistance. The same is true for tracking (how straight a kayak goes) and length; longer kayaks track better. Also, the better a kayak tracks the faster you can go with it as more energy goes into going forward rather than turning (which inherently happens because when you paddle you apply force off the center line). It's why short, flat bottomed, and high rocker kayaks seem to turn much more with every paddle stroke.

Steve, great video. I live in Englefield Green where the RAF Memorial is. I’ve kayaked from Datchet which is further down the river to Runnymede and from the Runnymede Hotel to Staines Bridge. I’d like to kayak from the Hotel to Weybridge and was hoping you would show more of the journey from Weybridge to Runnymede as I need to know how easy it is to get ashore along the way if need be. I noticed the one stop you showed had a bit of a high bank which is a bug bear of mine. Are there easy spots along the route where you can step out if need be?
