Catfish Derby: I Caught a Rare Fish and a Golly Whopper Size Flathead

In this video, I bring you along with me as I compete in a kayak catfishing derby. This was a 22 fish slot limit tournament. I caught a rare piebald catfish and a huge golly whopper size flathead. It was a fun weekend and I ended up getting the win.

Wow great video. Made my 63 yr. old heart really start racing. Enjoyed the heck out of it. I got a little catfishin in two days ago. Only could fish about three hrs the wind got up. lake Conroe was starting to white cap. My SS127 Bonafide handles rough water very well. Just found that out. Thanks for the good time. PS. Chicken Brest is my main bait. It’s cheap stays on the hook, and keeps well when salted. I often catch bait with it. I even caught Striped Bass with it it. Not idea, but practical and affordable.

I'm 68 years old and have caught one piebald channel cat below a dam. It was a little one ,7 pounds, but it sure was a pretty fish. I hope the next guy that catches it releases it Too but that's not likely. People around here even keep minnows. Pitiful.

Hey Kayak Catfish, you should look into making a trolling motor mod on your Kayak there are tutorials on KZbin. Having to paddle is just ridiculous and unnecessary. It's not as hard to build as you would think. Not sure if you have pedal drive but if not trolling motor is a game changer.
