On my rod holders I was having same problem with getting rod out. I took a piece of 2x4 and shoved it up in the tail section and then took a heat gun and heated the top loop a little. Then let it cool down. No more problem with rod butt hanging up

I've had a similar ordeal where I was soaking a shad head for literally like 6 hours and not even a tap. Was calling it a night and got crushed by a 43 pounder while feeling it in. A fish I'll never forget dude. She was a fatty.
