Holy Cow Travis! Between those huge chunky agates, and that big agatized wood piece, you are going to sink your kayak! Lol! Nan those are big! And the second baculite was huge! You guys dont usually find them thar big out there! Today was a day of monsters! And that TSA was gorgeous! Just amazing fortification on that one! Such an amazing day! How far back to your boat, did you have to carry all that chinky goodness? That had to be a heavy backpack! But totally worth it! Thanks for sharing this epic day Travis!

Ha ha yeah I would have sank my kayak but luckily we had a raft for the rock carrying😅 that one island had so many fossils and big rocks it was so cool. It was a close easy walk to the boat and I already broke my backpack this year from to many rocks 🤣 so I gotta get a new one with extra strength straps 😅 thanks for watching Lisa 😁🍻

Awesome finds 406 Findings, wow! That big agate at the 5:35 mark is cool, and huge! So, are the fish scales a universal sign for agate? Please let me know and thank you for letting us tag along.
@406findings
@406findings 11 ай бұрын
The big agates often have that scale skin on them, there are other rocks that have it as well but not many and using that to determine whether or not to check out the rock can get you some nice agates.

Those marks are called incipient cones. Microcrystalline stones like agate, flint, chert, etc. are able to fracture in a way called a conchoidal fracture. This is what leaves the “scooped out” features on a knapped arrowhead for example. So what you’re seeing are the little impact points from that agate tumbling down the river and being percussed by other rocks. Google “cone of percussion” for more insight into this phenomenon. Anyway, when you see a rock with all those little incipient cones you can bet you’re looking at some form of quartzite or other microcrystalline quartz like an agate. It may not always turn out to be a keeper but it’s definitely a good sign to look for. Happy hunting!

Holy cow bud. I can’t wait to come up. I would be tickled just to find that tsa or one of those bacculites with the suture lines or just one of those little waterline agates. I think you’re spoiled. Lol another awesome video bud.

Glad you didn't have to swim back with those big monstrosities! :D Gotta say, though, my favorite find was that first bacculite. Those sutures were amazing. I'm curious - if you cut that second bacculite, would the chambered structure be in there, or do you think it would be solid inside?
@406findings
@406findings 11 ай бұрын
Thankfully we had a raft with us or I would have sanky kayak 😅 and I have broke some Baculites open and it looks just like cement inside, they look just like cement sticks if there is nothing showing it's a Baculite Fossil.
