Kayle fights to clean the world from every unrighteous as an angel and a divine being, while Morgana decided to understand human pain and to deny herself as an angel binding her own wings. Morgana is betrayed by her family and Kayle and trusts humans more than them and stays by their side. Opposite of Kayle... Story wouldn't have any depth if we knew every part of it. What makes it deep and interesting is the fact that we have no idea who is exactly right, Kayle or Morgana.. We don't know exact reasons as you mentioned..

Wait so let me get this straight: Morgana has given up her divinity to walk amongst the people and protect them. She's also one big homie. In spite of her dark looks and posture, she's actually REALLY nice, valuing loyalty, friendship, and compassion. She loves her sister and doesn't consider her an enemy, but is steadfast in her defiance of her twin's ideals, who she feels is far too totalitarian and lacking in empathy. So she's basically a hotter jesus. Kayle on the other hand is stalwart in her beliefs, resents Morgana for not standing with her, and has zero compassion for mortals. She thinks of them as little more than 'pets'. She clearly still loves her sister, and will go to great lengths to protect her, provided she isn't in her way. However, whereas Morgana values love and bonds over law, and sees her justice as upholding and protecting these bonds, Kayle is so deeply entrenched in her servitude to these laws that she wouldn't show mercy, even to her own sibling. So in other words, Morgana is basically everyone's friend, as long as they aren't pricks. Kayle is kind've a dick, but has good intentions.

So Morgana became more antihero than pure evil as she had been and Kayle went from knightly to fanatical psychopath. Interesting development. As a result, Morgana became much more sympathetic and likable while Kayle took a nosedive for becoming evil in her pursuit of "absolute justice" for me.

I find that Kayle is a bit misunderstood here. The people she seeks to judge are legitimately bad people and she wants to live up to her mother, who is the Targonian Aspect of Justice and everything so she's more like an overachiever trying to keep up with her self expectations. Morgana killed essentially Kayle's best friend and most loyal companion, so Morgana isn't entirely in the right as well. I'm hoping we get more from their lore later because there's plenty of missing pieces here and there.

Due process is necessary for a system of justice to even exist, and Kayle is the only one of the two seemingly willing to create it.

Morgana seems to be more empathic towards the frailty of mortals, while Kayle is the upbringer of absolute justice.

The way I see it, Kayle is an avatar of absolute justice. When someone tries to uphold an ideal to impossible standards it dehumanizes the bearer.

Absolute justice and passionate justice, huge difference, but as far as humans are concerned we are way too flawed to practice absolute justice or have it practiced upon us thats why it is only natural that we appeal to characters like morgana ryze and soraka they realised how frail we are and accepted us ( u can make a point that ryze was once human so he knows how humans work ) but he's practically a demi-god now with all his knowledge of magic yet he still protects humans

I love how these two have relly good chemistry now and that Morgana isnt purely evil while kayle isnt purely good.
