He believed that she was dead but now we find out that not only did she somehow survive in the Void but she got out somewhere in Noxus. Awhile back, Riot stated that they were planning on bringing Kassadin's daughter into the game. Low and behold, we get Rek'Sai, which Riot made a deliberate point of specifying the gender on: Female. Kassadin's daughter wasn't just lost, she got turned into a fuckign Voidling. I feel sorry for the poor guy.

Lets say mordekaiser comes back and kills swain to reclaim the Bastion and the kindred come to take swain by the lambs arrow or by the wolfs teeth but instead he says that voiceline and convices kindred that if mordekaiser won he would turn everyone into undead and ban death itself a.k.a kindred like what happened in the shadow isles . Probably because Kayn was a child soldier who was send to Ionia and he didn't had the best childhood. Zed let him into his order and just saw him as the "Next leader of the shadow order!" Kayn has infinite respect for his master and probably thinks Zed is so proud of him and loves him but in reality Zed is just looking for a successor. TLDR: kayn was abused child soldier so zed's ambitions feel like love for him even tho they aren't. Or maybe Kayn has a one way relationship with his sensei.

All this coments before me are pretty accurate. But it's not true that Zed didn't care for Kayn. you can see in the comics that Zed cares for Kayn a lot. I think the line goes to Raahst to be honest. Kayn has some serious problems with his mental and is scared to be left alone. Wehn Kayn becomes Shadow Assasin he keeps on talking to Raahst even tho Raahst is gone. He wants to show him how good he can kill without him, it seems like for me Kayn wants taht Raahst is proud of him. You can notice this even more when you listen to the Odyssey Skin. Raahst on the other way doesn't care about Kayn at all. Raahst just wants his body and his Shadow abilities wich makes him even stronger.

To me, League of Legends is transitioning from that goofy, cartoon-like aesthetic to more of that mature, realistic aesthetic, and in my opinion it plays in with how the League community kind of... grew up with the game. If you joined League of Legends back in your young, adolescent days, you could excuse the silly aesthetics and care more about showing off your skills and abilities, basically blasting everyone away with your extraordinary powers. As the community got older however, people began to shift to things that appealed to them Other than the gameplay. They wanted depth. They wanted uniqueness. They wanted something that appealed and connected with them. Not just some shallow champion that had no real direction or felt out of place from the general atmosphere of what the League of Legends world portrayed. Heck, the atmosphere from Season 1 is totally different from the atmosphere from Season 8. Things are much more clean, sharp, with every meticulous detail emphasizing a champion's appealing qualities to great affect. That contrasts greatly from the initial "Here's a guy that's so-and-so, end of story" mentality from the game's early beginning.
