@@danieldow3094 probably one of the most forgiving of all the Alocasia I own. It’s extremely resilient and I just think the satin-y finish (from the black velvet) on the classic Alo leaf is beautiful.

Okay. My mom passed away in 2016 of MND. When I was a little girl, we were poor and my mom was a notorious plant beggar, pincher, divider, propagator. She had the most beautiful pale lilac old-fashioned trailing petunia in flowering all year round in a lovely old ceramic pitcher growing in an E. facing window. In the mornings, the light would come in through that plant and my mom would ask me to come in and admire it with her. I think she was just trying to get me to be quiet and sit still to let my little brothers sleep. Anyway, since then, I've been trying to reproduce a trailing type petunia in my house. I have a good window for it now and have water propagated a few candidates I found at the garden store recently. Fingers crossed.

I can't believe I have something that's on your wishlist, that never happens! I love my Maranta Black, it's so gorgeous and different. The only place I've found them is through private sellers and very seldomly too. Bought mine as a 2 leaf cutting for low triple digits at the time.

I’m obsessed with philadendron orange princess, only found out about it a week ago, it’s like prince of orange in colour, but splotchy like a pink princess and it doesn’t fade to green by the look of it. Never seen it for sale ever

My wish list actually does not have a plant on it.... but it does have something for my plants, a small greenhouse for my plants. An oasis where I can spend time with the ones I have in order to enjoy new ones brought in. I'm not really a "rare" collector even though I enjoy seeing what's out there. My budget is common to semi uncommon... but everyone is loved. Thank you Kaylee Ellen for showing us the beautiful rare plants out there!

I am a long year orchid lover. FYI, there are thousands of fantastic orchid hybrids, which have taken ages to creat. Some orchids are growing soooo slowly that it take decades to creat some new crossing with persued characters. Never have I ever heard of such kind of contract. The degree of human's greed just keep making new records!!! BTW, there were no such thing about Patents even for vaccine development until the 70's , when in the US everything has gotten commercialized... In the 40's or 50's, when a doctor developed a new vaccine (like Jonas Salk who has developped the vaccine against polio). No doctor or company during that time would ever come to the idea of making tons of money out of it!!! They did it because they wanted to solve problems or bring pleasure to the whole human beings! And that's exatly why we are STILL in the pandemic! because the very most of countries are not allowed to produce the covid vaccine, in order to make sure that some western medical companies keeping getting more and more and more money?

My current wishlist is mostly common plants or that are becoming more common. So I've been into this plant hobby more seriously in the past year or so. I mostly have common plants as I just don't want to spend that kind of money yet (it's my first winter with a bigger collection). I also love getting really tiny cuttings and growing them out. So most of the time I get them through marketplace and fb groups for a couple of euro's. I believe thr most expensive one was 20 euro for quite a big hoya -Dischidia ovata (watermeloen) -Philodendron jose buono -Philodendron ring of fire/prince of orange -Philodendron pink princess -Philodendron hederaceum lemon lime -Maranta silver splash/maranta black -Monstera thai constellation -Peperomia japonica

I know this video is a little older now but I was able to cross 2 plants off my wish list this year - Alocasia black velvet and Alocasia silver dragon. A lot of my wish list is made up of pretty common plants but I don’t order online and that makes it a scavenger hunt for new plants in town since we get the same things all the time! I would still like to get an Alocasia cuprea, a raven zz, and I’d like to maybe dip my toes into some more expensive plants this upcoming year and try purchasing online. 😊

Everytime you make a new list I'm always just impressed with the amount of variety in the world of plants! The Red Moon and Golden Dragon were my favs (so far.) My wishlist 'big ticket' plants are P. Florida Ghost and Hoya Nicholsoniae New Guinea Ghost. The Florida Ghost has such a fun leaf shape, and the New Guinea Ghost is such an interesting color with almost lavendery sunstress.💜👻

TBH I don't have a wish list right now. The Plants that I really, really wanted (Monstera esqueleto and Thai Constellation for example), I have gotten at this point. There's a few I'd get when there was a really nice big specimen coming my way, like with the variegated Epipremnum or Amydrium Medium (which is pretty difficult tbh... it'S just sending out runners, no leaves and it's in a very humid situation), but overall, for now I want to grow out what I have for now. I wouldnT' say I am on a No-Buy because that makes me want to actually buy things, but for now I am pretty happy with my plants.

Garner is responsible for so many of the Alocasia cultivars that are available at mainstream stores so I'm glad she is trying out Philodendrons. Basically if you own any black stem or Regal shield Alocasias Alocasias you bought at places like Home Depot, you own a plant developed by Garner. She also developed the popular manta ray Alocasia. Totally worth it to give her money so she can develop even more aroid varieties in the future. Creating new varieties of aroids we love ain't cheap, hey!

Top of my wishlist are the Florida Ghost and the Melanochrysum. I have a Florida Green and it is such a cool plant, like a dragon. It is never fussy. And the Melanochrysum is just stunning with those big velvet solar panels. I want to put it in a nice corner with its own growlight and let it go wild.

the anthurium hype train stopped right in front of my face after shackling me unnoticed for months. SO im here and i casted an eye on the wendlingeri because of its amazing flower and long leaves. PLUS i just recently learned that anthurium start every new leaf very small and grow it large (because apparently im living underneath a rock. probably 10.), anyway they have thousands of really cool features. The black Maranta is also on my wishlist! There are right now two for sale in Germany, but at 400 and 600€. I got a M. cristata, Silver Band and Cat Moustache/NoID yesterday. Most other plants on my wishlist are rare-ish Calatheas, like the 'Electric Shock'. Pretty common in South America and SE Asia, but absolutely unobtainable in Europe.

I've always got an eye open for interesting Calatheas, the one currently at the top of my wishlist is a Merak. That Black Maranta just got added to my list, too! I also have a soft spot for Butterfly plants/Shamrocks, and wouldn't mind getting one or two more varieties to go with my purple one. Most of the plants on your list I like to some degree or another. Kinda meh about the Red Moon, though; the colors are really cool, but the shape is kind of boring to me for such a hefty price tag. Love the Black Maranta and Monstera Tri! I think my least favorite would be the Gloriosum hybrid XD To me, it just doesn't stand out at all, but I have a proclivity toward the more outspoken plants regarding colors.

There is a video on here of a guy taking tour in Kunzo's greenhouses, featuring the white monster, that in all examples growing there is pale green rather than white, this picture of Kunzo holding massive white plant seems to be one off compared to actual stock.

Obviously, I don't know the terms of the contract, but what is stopping someone else from hybridizing these two plants on their own? They didn't sign a contract, so regardless of the terms, they are not obligated by those terms. I understand the intellectual property aspect, but how will anyone ever be able to keep track of all new specimen floating around??

Even if they hybridized the same plants, it's not going to produce this exact plant or it's genetics. I breed other plants but I can do the same cross and come up with literally thousnads and thousands of different 'offspring' all having different genetic make ups from their parents. One sibling is not the same as the next. The contract aspect is literally no different than the hundreds of plants already protected under PBR for example, which is dead common in the nursery industry in Aus. The International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV Convention) was started in ummm... like the 60's? for that matter.

The chances of them coming up with the same exact plant via the usual method of hybridizing (pollinating plants from two different species then planting those thousands of seed to see what grows) is almost nil. Every single seeds that was pollinated will grow into plants with different characterstics. This is assuming that those fertilized seeds were viable in the first place. Different species hybridizing with each other through pollination will have different challenges compared to pollinization between the same species. Some species readily hybridize with each other, some don't, or do it very rarely. Pollination is also sexual reproduction, so each seeds is literally a different combination of the mom plants and dad plant. This is the same reason why the seeds of most fruits you buy at the grocer that you plant and matured to the fruiting stage will not have the same kind of fruit once you harvest it.

I am not a pink person either because my favorite color is blue 💙 but there is not a lot of blue in houseplants so I have a weakness for pink leaves because it’s unusual. Although I found myself staring at the backgrounds of some of these pictures because I am currently trying to find the right gray to paint my walls and I was looking past the plants like “that’s a nice gray” 🤣!

I am FINALLY moving into an appartment next week that has bIG windows so I am going to try and get a few plants like a monstera thai constelation, a philodendron dark lord, and a Florida Ghost! and a bunch more monstera delisiosa regual and some more golden pothos for *jungle vibes*

Hello, I was just watching this again and finally remembered the name of one of my wishlist plants and that is the Marie Moire which is a caladium, and it also has a mostly white leaf with green veining and heart shaped. It’s very beautiful and used to be a very popular house plant. The monstera white monster reminded me of it
