“Mint” is usually used to refer to a NO ID form of Monstera. It fenestrates and grows differently from both large form and small form. There are indeed small and large form deliciosa (notice the named species) with “mint” variegation, but Mint NoID is the expensive plant and the money maker.
@penelope65792 жыл бұрын
Yes, all of this. When just “mint” is used it usually means Mint Monstera Noid, which is an intermediate form with deep fenestrations that develop faster. The variegation has shown some stability too, with leaves developing more intense variegation with the age of the plant. Large form mint that has a similar variegation pattern, and is quite expensive itself, but true “mints” can be recognized my the leaf shape and growth. MonsteraX has some great information on the differences and how to spot each with visuals.

I just got an El Choco Red this past week for my birthday! I got really lucky and got mine for $90, its a rooted mid cutting with 3 leaves on the cutting, and a new growth point with 1 big, new leaf and another on the way. It has tons of good aerials and a new growth point emerging on the original node. So once it settles after a few weeks I'm gunna chop and root the top, then let the original node grow out its 2nd growth point to use for props to sell. Really excited to grow it, its SO pretty and I'm glad I watched your videos and found out about it. Its everything I love about P. micans and MORE.

Hey from Germany! We don't really use small/ large form terms with the deliciosa and I cant find much info on it. They're always just sold as monstera deliciosas. I would be so thankful if you could make a video explaining or anyone in the comments could enlighten me. I want to grow a big boy like yours on the wall for example and I have a young plant that's starting to fenestrate at home, but of course I'd like to know if it's a small or large form!🤗
@kjerstiva2 жыл бұрын
Yes!! I also would love a video on how to spot the difference. In Norway it’s also just sold as Monstera deliciosa
@DestinyHopeLou2 жыл бұрын
The small form is also labeled as ‚Borsigiana‘ sometimes. In Germany and the Netherlans have found ones labeled as Tauerii which according to Wikipedia isn’t a real cultivar, so I assume the one I have is a small form aka Borsigiana. As for spotting the difference, if you look at the part where the petiole (stem of the leaf) connects to the leaf, the big form Monstera has curly tissue. I don‘t really know how to describe it, but there‘s videos on KZbin with pictures.
@Amandasplants2 жыл бұрын
Me also would love to.see that
@hobbithabits2 жыл бұрын
'Small' form generally has longer internodal spacing and the leaves do not get nearly as big as the 'large' form. The 'Large' form generally has very small internodal spacing and size up much quicker. I have a small form thats been climbing a 6 foot stake and only now, 3 years later has it started to fenestrate. My large form has sized up exponentially and its very evident in how large the stem has gotten. Its about 2 inches around at the top of the plant and about the width of a pencil where it started. I will almost never suggest a large form monstera for apartments, and small homes. They QUICKLY outgrow their area and then you end up with a chopped up plant because its hitting everything around it.
@RareRootsOfJoyMelbourne2 жыл бұрын
