I think your list is just right for beginners who are starting out with "rare plants" but are unsure about investing a lot of money into it at first. I just recently bought another gloriosum cutting (this time of the zebra version) and I really love how gloriosums can look so different 💕 such an amazing plant, honestly. I have another good suggestion, Philodendron Paraiso Verde! I fell like this one goes in and out of fashion but the prices have been very stable. A good size import or a small domestic cutting is mid double digits here in the US and the large specimens can go for low triple easily. The variegation is pretty stable and the plant is pretty easy to grow overall. I know it's one of my favorites. I've only cut mine once but it rooted well.

P. Burle Marx var. is an excellent choice, I'd also add that it is well known to push out green leaves every once in a while without actually reverting, so you don't have to prune it or stress about it when it happens! They go for about $20-$40 for a small plant in my area. P. gloriosum is another great choice, very easy to care for, aggressive grower and fantastic looks that are unlikely to go out of style. They go for $20-$40 for a rooted cutting in my area. A. warocqueanum is a bad choice imo, I've heard awful stories about it (like >90% dying rate on an import) and they almost always look like shit because they don't do well in our normal household conditions. That being said, if you do have a knack for it as Kaylee said, you should probably propagate and sell it because it'll most likely always stay high value because it is so difficult to care for. This one usually costs $150-$200 for a small/medium-sized plant in my area. I'd personally add most popular plants from the Monstera genus (especially the Thai Constellation) because they're so easy to grow and (sometimes) fast to propagate while quite a few of them are in high demand at the moment (Thai, Albo, Aurea, Esqueleto, etc.). Ever since Costa dropped the ball on the Thai Constellation, I've decided to plan to propagate mine because prices are unlikely to go much lower and it's one of the easiest and most rewarding plants in my collection! Also, everybody I know would want one if it were a little less expensive... I'd also add a few of the big leaf philodendrons to the list because they're affordable, easy to care for and very impressive if you grow them properly: P. ''Splendid'' (fantastic grower), P. melanochrysum, P. gigas and P. ''Dean McDowell''. Furthermore, if you can get your hands on some lesser-known but very good-looking plant that is not so available in your area, you should go for it! I do have quite a high demand for my Aeschynantus longicaulis and Peperomia caperata ''Pink Lady'' propagates and I expect the same for my Amydrium zippelianum in the near future. These are extremely easy plants that people might buy as an add-on when buying something more expensive from you.

I think the Gloriosum will go down in price way more. You can buy ones with 2-3 leafs for 40€ and they are easy to care for, grow fast and and are super easy to propagate.

I think the queen anthurium is a high elevation plant in habitat and dislikes heat and is not a good choice for outdoors in Fl. My favorite in this group is Jose Bueno.

In general increase the light for the cuttings, they need it even more than established plants. Other than that prop boxes with moss work very well for me.

Personally, I have found Monstera dubia to be a great investment. It gives me a leaf a week and I can easily sell cuttings for $20 a piece. Definitely worth getting not only from a personal collection, but also great for reselling cuttings!!

Hahaha! This reminds me like politicians advice regular people … like if you are low in budget, get queen anthurium, imho! Crinstallinym, maybe, yes- but still, it’s expensive and growing not as fast. I would consider low budget as Monstera Dubia, or even regular green leaf large form deliciosa. There’s only one queen and that’s… Kayleee. But why is no one talking about monstera standleyana?? I have both an albo and an aurea and they are such prolific growers and money get backers!! A yellow form sells like hot cakes and you can propagate them so easily and they make very nice commercial baby plants. P. Burle Marx var. pays off very well indeed. If it grows green leaves just pluck them and he will replace them with variegated ones.

@@lwayne9281 hey :) just thought you might want to know what I learned from my experience: if you cut this monstera and propagate it, the new leaves will come out even more variegated and brighter. Also, it may shoot out leafless runners at times. I cut them back, cut them into nodes and bury them in wet vermiculite in a small prop box. All of those cuttings produced separate baby plants that were incredible in their colors :)

@@caramazzola2399 it can revert but it pushes multiple grow points all the time so there is really low chance of all of them reverting at the same time. I cut the green shoot and the plant stays variegated. My biggest problem was the leaves going full moon but it's the same solution, I just cut the shoot off and leave the variegated grow points.

See now Aglaonema Pictum Tricolor is a REALLY weird addition to this list imo. As mine has been a shitshow to take care of. So susceptible to root rot its nuts, they attract pests like no damn tomorrow, and they crisp and burn unless given minimum 80-90% humidity in my experience. I had a huge, gorgeous, multi-stem plant that rotted all back to stems despite my best attempts to keep it happy. Finally got most of the stems rooted and happy, they take FOREVER to root and won't root in water I only had success in moist perlite, and only 1 of them has given me a new leaf almost a year later. They are disgustingly slow growing, and their habit of dropping lower leaves even when happy is really annoying. Even if you cut the stem, AND manage to get the cuttings to root, the cuttings and the original plant then take their sweet ass time giving new leaves loll. I wanted this plant for years and it gave me nothing but headaches when I had it loll. I feel your success with it is solely due to having more premium conditions. Without a terrarium and good monitoring, I doubt anyone is going to have good luck growing this plant in their home to the point of propagating and reselling it. I had mine growing in my room at 70%-80% humidity in chunky mix of Foxfarm Ocean Forest, orchid bark, and pumice. Next to a Northwest window so perfect amount of light for an understory Aglaonema, and still had issues. I only started having success and regrowth when I moved the stems that rotted into one of my terrariums that stays at 90%+ humidity. They really can't stand lower humidity, and considering most people keep their homes 40% or less, this isn't a plant you can grow successfully without a terrarium. So even if you DO have success growing it to the point of propagating, there isn't a market for it because it makes a really bad houseplant for most people. There's demand to collectors who are fine going above and beyond, but Aglaonema Pictum Tricolor is just way too sensitive to become a hot houseplant for most people, I think that's why you don't see people bothering to propagate and sell it.

I think it really is specimen dependent. Mine in some basic soil, in room humidity and it's very happy. The specimen I bought initially had a long stem, so I cut the top, rooted it in moss within 2 weeks (inside a ziplock bag) cut the stem into pieces and each one of them sprouted a new plant. The sprouting took ~1 month. The bottom cut also sprouted two new growth points. Never get crispy leaves and it didn't drop the lower leaves either... I hear that many people have issues with this plant but for me it's one of the easiest. If you really like it I suggest you try to get another specimen, the prices have dropped significantly on this one. The Queen Anthurium though... ugh, I can't keep her happy no matter what.

@@horace6851 See I have the exact opposite experience loll. Once I let my Queen Anthurium settle I've had no issues. Got her as a seedling and she's been doing great for me, just gave me her first leaf with some decent lobes. She does tend to let the very tiny tips of her leaves crisp, but I'm wondering if that's moreso because she's more thirsty than I was expecting rather than it being a humidity issue. I feel if it was humidity she'd have issues with new leaves emerging and such, yet she never has any problem.

Kaylee I’m curious how you feel about Syngonium mojito as an investment? It’s mid -high double digits in US for a decent sized S. Mojito. Minty variegation seems to be popular lately and due to living in FL with invasive epipremnum aureum devouring our native trees... I just have it ingrained in me to dislike similar looking plants w yellow variegation 😂

Syngonium Mojito is dirt cheap here in Indonesia. You could get it in big pot with 6 leaves for $ 3-8 depending on the nursery and how good the variegation. I heard some of my friends lose or fading the variegations because live in hotter rather than colder place
