@@michellec.4994 thanks for your comments Michelle! I'll consider keeping that philodendron or maybe chop and prop it. You're right about the wandering Jew - they grow so well outside in neglect!

I have a tip: pollinating a plant with its own pollen it's usually not the best idea. Most plants prefer cross pollination---nature knows that a wide gene pool is better for the survival of species than a restricted one!

Hi Grace! We are officially YT pen pals...so happy to see you and great content...in the last few months the fig plants could be found just about everywhere here and can say I never purchased and happy I didn't after seeing this and it being a dramatic plant...now lets talk about your cream Philo...I'd gladly take it off your hands! My brasil philo was a rescue at my local big box store and is very happy in my home and love the look, so yeah...def take yours, if only...I'm still seeing the anthuriums coming in left and right here and tho I love the red leaves, I've stayed strong and keeping my plant purchases to a minimum. Your propagation seems to be doing well and love the color variation...as for my regrets...I have a few that no one should ever know...like I threw away one this last summer and now feel bad if I had only taken the time to "clean" it up. As for other regrets, I would say impulse purchases to which I've curved as a lesson learned. In the last month I did however purchase a new Dracena? Spelling? and it was and is super full/lush and compliments my other foliage quite well and a steal at $7.00 - I wish we could send pics with these replies so you could see...another purchase was a large philodendron, at $7.00 again. Very happy with both recent purchases and well worth the price, so no regrets there! Always nice to see you, have a great week! Hugs!

Hi Lily, sorry for the delayed reply! This week got the best of me. I wish there was a way to buy/sell plants easily from Australia but the bio security laws here are very strict. You're doing well keeping plant purchased in check, well done! Don't feel bad for throwing them away if they're no longer worth your energy. I have done that in the past too (and some by mistake before I knew that they grow from corms and can therefore resurrect). Those purchases you mentioned sound like a bargain! Thanks for sharing 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful week! Take care Lily

Ironically the christia vespertilionis is now on my wishlist 😋 For the cream splash, a good solution would be to train it up a moss pole. That is what I am doing with my Rio and it is beautiful. But I dont like the cream splash in general because the stem to leaf ratio is off, if you know what I mean... Rio stem is thinner
@MyFellowFoliage3 жыл бұрын
I get what you mean. The cream splash is quite gangly! I found that mine is responding well to letting it trail, for some reason mine doesn't like to climb. Anyhow, good luck with the christia vespertilionis!

The Philodendron Rio, is that exactly the same as the cream stripe? Or very very similar at any rate. Anyway, of all my philodendrons of that type, it is the very slowest grower and I get smaller leaves as well. It’s just this year (year three) it’s been growing more robust leaves but not nearly as big as the originals at the top. When I bought mine it was from a hobbiest who has an incredible skill for plants and she had had it with this Philo also. She couldn’t get it to grow robustly or larger leaves either. So maybe there is something to this plant inherently. Mine is finally showing promise enough that I’ll keep her. She is quite pretty ❤

Love your channel and your great tips. I also subscribed. 😊 My biggest regret was the Calathea rattlesnake, begonia Rex and angel wing. I did everything right but once I moved them from my bathroom window bc the winter was coming and the window has cold draft coming thru to another room giving it a grow light the leaves dropped and all died. 🥺 But, that is life. 🪴🌱

I honestly just wait till their leaves start to droop a little before watering and then I completely soak them/clean their leaves. They all live in quite bright spots in my house as well. They get a little direct morning light and a teeny bit of direct afternoon light. One of the easiest plants for me 🙊

Aw, thanks for sharing. I still want an aglaonema pictum tricolor, but it’s super pricy and hard to find here in the States. I think I def regret buying a PPP, because she has turned into a muddy brown or maroon princess. Thankfully I didn’t pay a lot for a baby one, but still kinda ugly to look at. I knew it was a risk because of the unstable variegation, but I went for it anyways lol.

The aglaonema pictum tricolour is still a beauty in my eyes especially when it's lush and leafy 😍 yeah the PPP is tough - really need luck for beautiful variegation!

Is there a way to send photos here? I bought hastatum silver sword 9 months ago. Two pretty mature plants in one pot with a total of only 7 leaves. Today 9 months later, it has 23 leaves total with one almost 13 inches long. Still in the same pot that came from the grower.I have been so wanting to transplant it but every time I check for roots coming through the bottom none show. With its massive top growth that doesn't make sense to me. It grew very well from the start. My lighting is what many people might call way too much. However, my plants DO NOT agree. I purchased these lights about 1.5 years ago and they are still going strong at least 10 hours per day and my electric bill has increased only a small amount. Each plant has its own individual bulb. Also I have a small collection and have not had to deal with pests. If can send photos please let me know. When I found these lights my other 10 and over 20 year old plants agree! I love to help others lean from my experiences, I have made my share of mistakes to learn from over the years.
