I put them on a cheap Strat and I am very happy with 'em. they might not fully lock a 009-String, but I love their tuning-stability.

Kaynes or Guyker? They both seem very similar
@FretboardDiaries3 ай бұрын
Depends… if the guitar has neck dive, go with the Kaynes, they’re lighter… If neck dive isn’t an issue, go with the Guyker, I felt like they were a bit more solid, although performance was similar… Full disclosure, I’m sponsored by Guyker, but the video I made on their locking tuners was done before I was sponsored by them and I stand by it. Pretty solid product 🤘🎸

Does taking all the strings off at once mess with the intonation at all? I would do one string/tuner at a time while restringing each tuner. Great video regardless!
@FretboardDiaries6 ай бұрын
So it depends on the bridge you have and assuming you don’t leave the guitar unstrung for a lengthy period of time (days)… With the bridge this guitar has, it won’t be an issue because it’s fixed. Neither the bridge, nor the saddles, will move… If you had a floating bridge, like. Floyd Rose, it could throw if you don’t block it before you start. Even then, it would likely need a claw adjustment when set back up. So yeah, the answer is, it really depends on the bridge is the best answer I can give you. There’s nothing with doing it string by string, but by taking all the strings off, I can polish the frets and condition the fretboard all in one shot. So that’s probably the main reason I do it that way. Hope this helps 🤘🎸

I put these on an explorer kit earlier this year. I have no issues with them, solid tuners for a good price on Amazon.

They’re hard to beat for the money… I liked the Guyker’s too, both are a great budget option! 🤘🎸

Curious, did you get them from Ali Express or Amazon? Apparently there’s some fakes being sold on Ali Express, or so some commenters have said on another vid I did… Either way, hopefully you were able to return them… I’ve been luck so far…

@@FretboardDiaries I got them off of Amazon, they sent a replacement tuner. Thankfully since my buddy was getting anxious to get his guitar back.

@@FretboardDiaries yeah it’s kind of a long silly story about a guitar I wish I bought 17 years ago, just out of curiosity went searching and found one reasonably priced a few weeks ago.

@@genesnodgrass How are you liking it so far?
@genesnodgrass Жыл бұрын
@@jeeeeev I love the guitar. The tuner posts seem a bit tall so there’s not a big degree of string angle from the nut to the headstock. Good tuners otherwise.

Thanks for the great video 👍 I've always wondered why ANY "modification" making guitar a better, stable instrument more or less lowers the value, even if the guitar is sold with next to original hardware. It's always "meeeh, its modded, its not original, i can't pay much"..., so what if i just install the original BAD hardware? You happy then? The answer is still no 😂😂 So, install the original hardware before selling anything, keep the good stuff and advertise it properly. 😅😅

Hey thank you! Much appreciated… It’s funny because I save all my old hardware, even though I’ve never sold a guitar… 😂 😂 My friends all know if something breaks on their instrument, to just call me… 😂 chances are, I’ve got the part…

They offer some cheaper options but generally their locking tuners are at least $60, which is almost 3x the price of these… And they’re definitely a smoother option

I think it's the poor metal they use and the way the threads and gears were cut. Why nobody is making recirculating ball screw machine heads for guitar in 2023 is beyond me. @@FretboardDiaries
