As someone who is a big fan of Japanese media and recently has been getting into some Korean shows as well, my favorite thing about Japanese and Korean media is their focus on character, which tends to be greater than the focus Western media has on their characters. Blue Archive is a Korean game with tons of Japanese influence, and its devs really seem to care a lot about their characters as seen here which is nice to see. It translates into the game as well, making the girls of Blue Archive very endearing and full of personality. I think that such a focus is especially important in gacha games, where you're pulling for said characters. When there's so many characters, it's easy to make them just a collection of stats and skills, but giving them an interesting personality makes the game as a whole way better. There are even times when I pull a character not for meta, but just because I like them. it's such a big deal to me that I will drop any gacha game that doesn't have enough focus on characters.
