Thank you Timmons. I was needing out big time last night, trying to come up with a new regimen for 2022 and perhaps a new, composite scoring system. Trying to tweak things to make them a bit more real world value and also a way to have the exact same tests & scoring process for mechs & fixed.

All things considered this IS really a great head. Can't believe that type of metal manufacturing process held up so well against the concrete.

Yeah, blade geometry has a lot to do with the structural integrity.

U had me @ bloodletting. Double bevel with those extra features that might seem small until u need it @ the moment of truth. Accuracy really looks like the test the b.h. shines @. Excellent innovation & I'm probably going to try this in the future on a bear.
@LuskArcheryAdventures2 жыл бұрын
It is a cool head. I wish it had a wider cut...especially for bear. I really like the Gen 2 Pilot Cut for a huge hole in animals like that.
@josephtreadlightly56862 жыл бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I'm sure the smaller cut is due to people wanting great accuracy longer ranges like 80. If your arrow is starting to lose energy the easy penetration is what u crave for.

Hey, sorry about this off topic question but here goes , In your professional opinion, which broadhead design does best when encountering heavy bone , leg bone heavy ?. Thanks in advance and I LOVE all your tests !!!!
@LuskArcheryAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Man, so many factors, but I'd lean toward a heavy, well constructed 2 blade single bevel head with at least 35 degrees of bevel angle. A solid 2 blade double bevel will work too.
@TheManic.5-OH Жыл бұрын
I think you have me sold on these. Do i need them for white tail here in central and over in eastern Iowa? I do not. Do i want to have them to be able to tinker and resharpen and testing? Absolutely

Stainless is tough, but my experience, much harder to sharpen/re-sharpen especially with traditional file sharpening. Ferrule design very interesting for sure. That sharp edge noise, also translates to arrow fletching. Round shaped feathers quieter than ones with pointed or squared shape.

John, did you by any chance test the edge retention on the broadhead you used on your buck?

The one with the Kayuga? I just checked quickly. It took 400 grams of pressure to break the wire...which is not bad for zipping thru the deer and sticking in the ground.

Whats your recommendation for mechanical Broadheads? After all the tests I've seen I'm thinking sevr is a no brainer. Id go fixed blade, but worry about accuracy. All opinions are appreciated!

There are some really good ones that I've tested. I like Sevr the best at this point, due to the flight and durability. But no head is perfect.

Man, it is difficult. I try to hunt as much as I can so I can test a lot of different heads. But there is a limit. I've taken 13 animals so far this year; that's fairly typical for me. Congrats on the 8 point! I need to test the Fatal Steel.
@Jay_Michael2 жыл бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures yes, please do a fatal steel review. I'd love to see the torture test. In the last 2 deer seasons I've used them, I've shot 8 deer and only had to track one. I've seen them all drop. I'm impressed with them, and I was never an expandable head fan.. I am now.

I'd replace concrete block test with a layer or two of mdf in front of it. I'm more interested in if I get pass through and head hits rock will it be reusable. Simulate that or something like that. Just my suggestion.
@LuskArcheryAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion. It's hard to get the tests perfect, but I'm always trying new things. I've considered that very suggestion, or putting a layer of rubber mat over the concrete, as every part of an animal has hide and some tissue over it. But that creates a challenge of getting the head out of the concrete without having to cut around the MDF or rubber mat. About 1 out of 4 heads sticks in the concrete and has to be chiseled out. I'd have to cut thru the MDF or rubber in order to do that--and then I'd ruin that whole piece of material.

I've shot 3 bucks with this head and the arrow has passed through each time and kept going haha. one went about 8inches into the dirt. just needed to work on the tip, blades held up perfectly

I really like them. Still do. I still use them at times. I had committed myself to using them for everything for one year..and was glad I did. The only draw back was an errant shot made the arrow hard to find at times--cause there was not that vane sticking up from the grass or leaves.

@LuskArcheryAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Well, I can understand your sentiments. But the owner used to do a ton of drilling and came up with the idea from that. He considers this the fruit of over 30 yrs of design work & improvements.

I used to think the same. But then when I've seen heads like this stick in concrete and go unscathed thru steel plate, it changed my mind. I still prefer machined, but for the price difference, MIM is a very viable option.
