This Song is old, very old. Is a old Irish folk Song, the First commercial version are from the Dubliners, a Irish Folk Band, in the early 1960s. Thin Lizzy, a UK Rock/Glam Rock Band, Cover the Dubliners Version in 1973 and Matallica Cover the Thin Lizzy Version in 1998.

Also, when sung in the trad. Irish style, it's usually done very fast, so the "Musha ring dum a doo dum a dah!" is like a tongue-twister: to the rhythm of a fast dance tune. I love how Geoff saw the lyrics, thought the story was kinda bluesy, and rearranged the song to fit that. Also, I just love Cesar's heartfelt bluesy singing.

Whiskey in the Jar is a song about a notorious Irish highwayman Patrick Fleming who was hanged in 1650, has become one of Ireland’s most beloved songs, a true rebel air that stirs the passions. This song has been covered by Thin Lizzi and Metallica and many others. This is so beautiful. When it came out on Patreon, I had to some research on it, but I love how they made it their own and still showed respect for the original.

Whiskey in the Jar is a traditional Irish song, covered by hundreds of Celtic acts and rock bands. This version took inspiration from the Thin Lizzy and Metallica versions. The vocalization that Omar did between verses is the guitar riff from the Thin Lizzy version (Metallica's version also uses the same riff, covering Thin Lizzy). The style is closer to Thin Lizzy, but they use the same verses that Metallica did in their version, including the repeating of the "musha ring dumma do dumma da" bit at the end. There are numerous versions of the song, with different verses, different story elements. In some versions, after robbing Captain Farrell (in the Cork and Kerry Mountains or the far famed Kerry Mountains), the protagonist brings the money home to Molly, in others, he brings it to Jenny. Sometimes, the protagonist shoots Captain Farrell and ends up in prison (like this version), other times, Molly/Jenny has replaced the gunpowder in his bullets with water, so he can't shoot Captain Farrell and goes to prison for the robbery instead of the shooting.
