During the premier they were a little scared on how it would go over. So you know from what I understand Rob was actually a trained in Opera. I absolutely love hearing their voices together. They actually made me cry.

When we saw them on Sunday in the Q&A I asked them how it was going from their normal stuff to opera and they said it was definitely a little difficult. Cause although they are both trained in it. They haven’t done it in quite a few years so it was a lot of practicing and a lot of prepping

Rob trained in college, Austin does theater opera, so while he can fake it and most think its great, he hasn't been coached or trained in it so real opera and classical singers can spot his mistakes in words and phrases. It's like someone who is good at accents, most can't tell but someone doing a real good fake Irish accent won't fool a real irish person, etc.

In the BTS video Rob and Austin both stated they had trained in opera in college. Rob also said he sang this to his father for Father's Day.

If you look for it you'll see that Austin takes all of his cues from Rob. Before the big crescendo at the end he looks right at Rob. They're both fantastic, but this is really Rob's performance.

Rob studied opera at college. He has not done any opera since. He did this for his dad who loves opera. He is magnificent, as well as Austin he did theater training.

Rob is a Classically Trained Operatic Tenor & Although not Classically Trained, Austin is a very highly trained Lyric Tenor. Lyric tenors actually have the highest Range of any Human (Male or Female) & Austin is one of the best I've heard. Nessum Dorma is from the Opera Turandot (Puccinni) & is probably most famed by the Great Opera Singer, Luciano Pavarotti & is one of the most famous Operatic Aria's. To say in Australian terms, these blokes did a Bloody brilliant job.

In fact Austin was classically trained from adolescence and through college. At his college (OCU), where he went on full scholarship, the music theatre kids had much the same training as the opera kids and had to prepare for auditions for all the college performances. His teachers wanted him to stay and switch to opera. Lyric tenors do not except in freakish circumstances have a higher register than a lyric soprano or a counter tenor. I do not expect any time soon to hear a man sing the Queen of the Night from the Magic Flute. The next highest range after the high soprano is the counter tenor, which is actually a specially produced male falsetto. I do agree that Austin is one of the best lyric tenors I've heard, after spending much of my youth at the Royal Opera House. He has a special quality called "spinto" (= incisiveness), which is what enables the lighter voice of a high tenor to cut through an orchestra. You can always distinguish his voice in harmonies because of it. He could have been a great success but chose a different course in life.

Great Reaction! I have never been a fan of opera except maybe some Andrea Bocelli & a few others. But I have always appreciated the talent it takes to sing opera. I was pretty impressed with Rob & Austin's version of Nessun Dorma. I have heard this famous song done by Pavarotti. I think I was more surprised by Rob's range & powerful delivery than even Austin's. Pretty good for a couple of country boys! Nice to see them dressed up in suits & looking classy.

I've been waiting for this. I knew you two would totally lose your minds. I've watched this video about 2 dozen times (video and reactions) so far and it takes my breath away each and every time. They're backed by taped music -- I would have loved it if they'd had 2cellos playing the music for them in the background. Maybe someday in the future they can do this during a HF concert, joined by 2cellos, but I don't think they're touring anymore now that I think about it. Too bad.

Several Opera Singers have reacted to this and ALL have stated their Opera Coaches can get Rob and Austin to a Professional Opera Level with in 3 - 4 years 5 at TOPS ! They Know Austin is a Theater Preformer and Rob is a R&B/Country Singer. Rob mainly needs to work on his Italian and Austin Italian/Breath Control.
