It's interesting because on the one hand, if you aren't keeping up it becomes overwhelming, but if you ARE keeping up it ends up being boring and you run out of content to exhaust waiting for the next update.

the main reason is people playing 24/7 rushing and crashing through content then demanding for more IMMEDIATELY, I play a LOT ALOT like 10+ hrs a day? but i still havent done a lot of content, hell my liyue is not even 100 exploration, its probably just a matter of understanding genshin is a casual game

@@era2s Yeah the the issue is the game wants you to rush. Most major events are locked to you having completed whatever the current story quest are, so when start as a new player the game basically forces you to burn through the story as quickly as possible or you won't be able to play the current of future events This is especially bad since like he said, major story events happen within these events

The reason is because a significant portion of new content every month is limited-time content that is increasingly being gated behind certain quests. So for players who aren't caught up with the story (either because they're new or because they just don't have that much free time), there's a big rush to complete all the story quests in time for the event.

I started playing in December 2021 and personally I thought the smartest way to go about timed events would’ve been for them to remain timed but not according to real time- rather you unlock them when you reach the point in the game where that event’s information becomes important and relevant, like you access lantern rite when you finish the Liyue Archon quest, you get access to Albedo’s events after you’ve finished Eula and Albedo’s story quests and Bennett’s hangout. That would’ve been so much smarter so players would still be put on a time limit but they’d actually be able to PLAY the timed content the Genshin programmers worked so hard to make ** the replies added the idea that events should be downloadable so when you’re done you can delete them and they won’t take up space or once the time limit is up they delete themselves and those are ideal ideas as well

thats a pretty good idea but i think one of the reason why there are time gated events is because of the usage of memory. with every new patch update they removed some of the old game data in exchange of some texts in archive for important events. even doing that genshin is almost 100gb in size in pc, around 20ish gb in mobile iirc. our devices are going to blow up by Khaerin'ah patch.

Yeah almost every gacha game give you the opportunity to play events for the story but you get none of the rewards, which is the right thing to do because active players have some exclusivity but everyone else can enjoy the story later. I wish Genshin would do that. Mobile players are like "wtf if they did that, the game would need 100GB of storage" but... bro... if you're playing Genshin on mobile, it means you have one of the best smartphone available, surely you can afford a SD card. The biggest issues the community has with the game is definitely the lack of replayable content and the artifact system being tied to resin. They devs put so much work on new game modes and mechanics for events that the players love, but then remove them once the event ends. Spiral Abyss is the only permanent mode that has any real rotations to it in terms of enemies and gimmicks. The sad thing is that some people don't try to clear it due to the somewhat disappointing rewards and the amount of mid-maxing they'd have to do to make 2 viable teams.
@Nixahma
@Nixahma 2 жыл бұрын
I kinda disagree with that last part? Spiral Abyss doesn't necessarily require min-maxing. You can clear floor 12 with subpar characters so long as you adjust your comp to each chamber, for example, I couldn't 3* chamber 2 until I used a scuffed version of National with Diluc (with very bad stats compared to my second, "minmaxed" and actually properly built team). The rest is all true though.

Yes and no. If permanent game modes have no long-term valuable rewards like gacha currency, character/weapon/artifact select, then there would be reason to replay them after few runs. If such game modes would give such rewards, then FOMO to complete them would be strong. Sure, old players who completed everything else would be fine and probably actually happy, but anyone not sitting at AR57+ probably not. Honkai Impact already have such issue with too many permanent and temporary events to catch up, especially when you're still haven't cleared story stages nor you're particularly well built with your characters.
@Riku-Leela

@@Panocek the only reason it's like that in Genshin is because the only worthwhile resource in the game is gacha currency, most other rewards they give out is just junk weapons nobody will use anyway or artifacts you'll just use to level up your main ones. To make people want to play more there needs to be a separate currency too which you can build to say purchase specific artifacts you want or weapons you want, maybe even have a rare drop of primos. The closest thing right now is the realm currency but that is terrible. @@Juslin7989 I can't say anything about difficulty spike because the only weapons I lvl up to 90 are event ones, they are so easy to upgrade, and all my characters are lvl 80. I don't have many meta characters too - no Ganyu, Ayaka or Hu Tao. I am lazy like that. I thought that whatever happened with lvl 93 enemies in Inazuma kicking my lvl 70 Raiden hard was just lvl difference lol. I guess one can unga bunga any enemy in Mondstadt and Liyue without thinking (except for wooden shield mitachurls that are much easier with pyro in the team... And geo shield enemies that can be broken with claymore or geo characters... And teleporting shielded cicin mages... And invisible teleporting fatui agents that are much better frozen... And hiding in the soil whopperflowers and dendro slimes... And that small elemental flies that are so hard to aim at without a catalyst... And literally any enemy that has some weakness against some element or weapon that can be exploited, lol), but make people use a little bit of strategy and it is suddenly too hard I guess? A catalyst and off field support like Yanfei+Fishl is really good for spectres, for example, and overload that many players don't like for knocking enemies further away comes in handy with them. They are the same as elemental flies in Liyue, just tankier and with that explosion in the end. They literally scream "don't come closer, aim better, use reactions to amplify dmg", and that's with every other enemy in Inazuma too. Yes, many enemies can't be grouped with anemo. But that's OK. Some enemies ignore shield, some ignore crowd control, for some you need a certain element or weapon to work - it was always there and no one complained that they can't beat hydro slimes with Barbara or geo cube needed geo or claymore to beat it quickly. Are people that attached to one team that they are not willing to try any other? Any enemy has a weakness that some people just don't want to exploit I guess. And with Inazuma opened only at ar 45, if I am not mistaken, at least 4-8 different characters should be lvled up enough (to lvl 70 with 50:130 crits and 1500 atk, how many of my characters are built, for example) to take it on. Plus, starter regions in any game are a sandbox for noobs, of course it won't have anything too hard to help newer players understand the concept and basic things about the game so they could use things they learned later on. Liyue and Dragonspine introduced new, harder enemies and mechanics that were challenging at the time too, but I don't see people talking about Dragonspine's difficulty now. I don't think difficulty spike is that bad - it is still manageable even without fully built characters on the last world lvl if the player in question understands the basic strategy that was shown to him in the starter regions. About the second thing you said, exploration is literally the heart of the game? You just go wherever you see, it's not that hard... And opening new archon statues shows bosses on the map. You just go and explore I guess. That's the charm, stumbling upon some kind of overgrown flower and discovering that's the one you needed for a character upgrade. And there are so many guides and tutorials all over the internet and now in game too - from enemy placements in the adventure book to literal build guides on talent and artifacts pages. You just need.....to read it. Wow, crazy. Tldr; if one doesn't use the tools and tutorials literally given in the game, they shouldn't say that something is too hard. Use everything you are given ffs.

The quests are probably one of the biggest problems in my opinion. In most cases, I have to do like six prerequisite quests before a limited event, and then speed run that event because it’s ending soon. We meet again with a character though we’ve never actually met with that character, leaving most confused and scrambling to figure out what they missed. The main mondstadt quest made sense, they introduced you to characters slowly, and kept it important. They shouldn’t have quests we’re never going to see again contain such important information, but instead have these limited quests be optional, and just for fun. The quests being like this will only screw over newer players who enjoy the story aspect more than the combat, or only started playing because the story seemed interesting. I had no idea the quest with scaramouche existed. I don’t think a lot of players did. If I had known about that quest aside from the first main encounter we have with him, he might have seemed more sinister, making the player shocked at his re-apperance, but because I hadn’t known anything prior to him, I didn’t have that moment of shock, he really just seemed like some dude, and it’s the same for other characters too who just suddenly appear in a quest that we’ve never met before due to a limited event. It’s harder to connect to the story, it gets confusing, and it disappoints people who will feel left out, or pressured to always be playing the game so they don’t miss anything. It takes the fun out of it.

It becomes increasingly difficult to address the issues of the game while keeping the game storage size under control. The limited time quests were meant to be limited timed due to the fact that they themselves would occupy a lot of space as a whole. Addressing one issue leads to another issue and the cycle goes on and on. With how large the fan base has become for Genshin, i think it isnt humanly possible to address all of the issues that the players encounter BUT addressing the major issues need to be done NOW. As the video said, these would go out of control if not dealt with now. I also hope that Hoyoverse is trying to find some solutions for the same and they would get addressed ASAP.

@@danfascy211 There's a way. Once you finish a quest that "occupy a lot of space" you don't need to redo it anymore. It can just get deleted from the disk. I also make sure to never finish exploring a new area in a couple of days, I take my sweet time. I read the dialogue in story quests and main story line but the side quests are almost all very boring I'll give you that. Besides, I enjoy farming for characters and making them stronger and while I wish there was more resin and more I could do in a day besides commissions, I enjoy my time when I log in. Another problem I would add would be the character level up materials, and regional specialties in general. An alternate account I had was at a low AR and didn’t have access to Inazuma yet, but I pulled Raiden. However, I could only get her up to level 40 with the help of trial materials, but I couldn’t go any further due to Inazuma being locked. On top of that, her level up materials are in one of the most dangerous places in Inazuma, Seirai Island. So even if I unlocked Inazuma, the difficulty scaling would make it a nightmare just to get to the island, let alone collect enough materials. This is definitely a pain for newer players, and it’ll keep occurring more and more as each region releases, too…

I think there is a more bigger issue we need to tackle as well: Communication from the developers. In my experience and history of playing the game (Played from day one, besides missing 1.1 and rejoining at end of 1.2), I feel that Mihoyo (Hoyoverse) doesn't seem to hear the cries of issues. This video is sort of evident that Hoyo has said issue. I see community communication as an important aspect for game making, as it is a great source for things that developers may not notice, which allows balancing, QoL updates, refinements and general improvements to the game in general. If I ever made a game, the community voice would be important. I also want to mention the one mechanic that I have a grudge against Hoyo for: Crouching. There are at leats 10 sections within quests where you are given crouching to sneak around to snoop into a conversation or tail someone witrhout being seen. I see this as a game mechanic that would make Genshin more enjoyable for the reason of sneaking past Hilichurls and dealing sneak damage or something. One of the daily comissions 'A Gentlemen Strikes in Broad Daylight', the crouching and sneaking mechanic would make this comission MORE interesting, as it basically tells you to get these 2 things without being spotted. I mostly get spotted, but this would be more fun if the crouching and sneaking mechanic was implemented fully into Genshin. Definitely would also help when following a Seelie through a enemy camp and you dont want to get spotted. Wishes should be regional wishes. Currnetly, 3 regions in the game, so a Wish for characters from Mondstadt, Liyue and Inazuma. This would make all characters available while also allowing new players to get characters and weapons that are in their current region depending on the current level and story progress. I, too, love tha game, but there are definitley issues that Hoyo dont want to look into or dont know of or something. I am currently in the 'game fatigue' or something equivalent because I am just at the point where only the Spiral Abyss, BP, events and grinding for some of my characters are what keep me going.

One thing that really annoys me is how every so often Traveler will mention something about characters/events that, in my POV, have never happened. Why? Because what happened took place during a limited time event. For example, in the current GAA event, when the team went into a cave they found a note left by Albedo. It threw me off because Traveler and Paimon referred to Albedo as a “friend” when I had never done a quest that involved him apart from Klee mentioning him at one point. They also mentioned that Albedo had been to those islands before. Now, I knew that the information came from limited events, as I had somewhat kept up with the game not long after it’s release (I just never played it until I could download it on my phone about a month and a half ago), but it’s just annoying how so much lore is lost. Like, had I never heard of the event I would have so many questions. What were they doing on those islands before? What even happened? How did Albedo get there? How did Traveler and Paimon know about this? Was there anyone else there? I’ve seen playthroughs of limited events on KZbin, but it peeves me that I can’t experience it first hand. Would it kill the devs to keep the limited quests up? They could just remove the limited edition rewards from it to “balance it out”. That way new players aren’t confused when it turns out that Traveler and Paimon are besties with someone said players have never even heard of before and the event still keeps that limited flair to it. I mean, you’re literally playing as the Traveler, so it’s a little off-putting when you miss a huge chunk of information when you’re supposed to be experiencing everything the Traveler does throughout the playable parts of the game. It’s like a series releasing a Christmas episode and then deleting it after Christmas passed, only to then occasionally reference it throughout the rest of the series, forcing people who missed it to watch it through illegal sites or crappy reaction videos if they want to understand.

@Sploofie Yes, lmao, I’m doing Kokomi’s at the moment. I’m talking specifically about content from event quests. For one, I was only rank 35 when I started the GAA (couldn’t get past the second ascension domain), so I didn’t have any of the 5* story quests unlocked, meaning Albedo still hadn’t been officially introduced to me. For two, the dialogue I commented on is seemingly referring to the last GAA event, which I could not do as I had no means to play Genshin at that time. It’s annoying that the game expects me to have either participated in the event, or have watched someone else play it instead of A. Not making dialogue that alludes to the player knowing characters from that event or B. Keeping limited quests permanent and removing the limited rewards once a certain amount of time has passed to keep that “limited edition” element.
@lumini3172
@lumini3172 2 жыл бұрын
@Sploofie No, it definitely wasn’t. They specifically said that he had been to those islands before, and referenced things that had happened there. And also, it really isn’t the same as that, since each season of Fortnite is pretty much an entire reset of the game, not just a quest (although I could be wrong as I’ve never played Fortnite, I’m just going from what I’ve heard my little brother talking about). It’s nothing like keeping a quest up but taking limited rewards from it.
@lumini3172
@lumini3172 2 жыл бұрын
@Sploofie 1. There’s already chronological issues, lol As I said, I had not officially met Albedo and yet Aether and Paimon were talking about him and calling him a “friend”. Now when I do Albedo’s story quest they’ll both act as if they’ve never met him before. The same thing happened with Itto and his story quest. I first met him during the music festival event, but once again Aether and Paimon were like, “That sounds like Itto,” and all that, clearly knowing him pretty well. But obviously they had no idea who he was when I started his story quest _after_ the event. This could already confuse someone, but that’s just how it is. No-one’s forcing you to do quests or events. And also, I’m pretty sure they have disclaimers to let you know when you start certain events that stuff might not make sense unless you do another quest first. I mean, I had to do like 4 different story quests before I could finish the last Archon quest. They could continue with that with event quests. 2. Why can’t they? It’s not like there’s some limit to how many quests you can put in a game. How many optional story quests are there? And there’s ones with like 10 different endings, as well. (Edit: There’s also an insane amount of world quests, and some of them hold A LOT of lore. The ones for Enkanomiya and Tsurumi Island being a couple of examples.) Again, it’s not like they would force people to do event quests, it would just be side stuff that players could do for Mora or materials or just because they’re bored or something. And what about mobile players? I’m a mobile player but I don’t expect the devs to cater to me lol. If they did they would never be able to update the game, as not everyone has enough space on their phones with the game as it is. That’s not to mention all the upcoming things. And even if they did want to worry so much about mobile players, they could make it a dlc thing, like with the different language audios and stuff. Then if you want to do the event quests, you can download it, but if you don’t have enough space, you have the option not to. I’m not asking for a miracle here, I honestly don’t know why you’re being so defensive. It was just something that peeved me, not a personal attack on you, the devs, or the game lmao
@lumini3172
@lumini3172 2 жыл бұрын
@Sploofie That is entirely different. For example, when I did Itto’s event, I was lost, obviously, but his story quest is a permanent fixture to the game. Like watching a later episode of a series and not understanding anything that’s going on, but being able to go back to earlier episodes and say, “Oh, what happens later makes sense now,” instead of never being able to watch the earlier episodes. There’s chronological issues, yes, but anybody can easily make sense of them when the past events are still available to them. It’s just not in the right order. Again, the information is at least always available in the story quest, rather than all that lore being lost in an event quest. HoYo literally did that exact thing with Perilous Trails II. Wasn’t it considered an event for that version of the game? It’s a permanent quest now. And again, I suggested that they have _limited rewards_ that _will_ be taken away once the event is over. That way no lore is lost, there’s still limited stuff, and everyone can be on the same page story-wise. And I don’t understand bringing OG players into this. Like, those events are in the past, and there’s going to be new events like every update. They wouldn’t lose anything-I’m confused about the thought process that they wouldn’t have anything special? It’s special that not everyone can participate in events? I’m sorry, I just don’t understand that point :/
@lumini3172
@lumini3172 2 жыл бұрын
@Sploofie If the rewards are the main point of events then I fail to see what problem would come with keeping the events up, just without the rewards. And I’m not talking about things that don’t have “personalities” such as seelie pets and skins. My main problem is with how much lore is lost, as I’ve said many times before. For example, the music festival didn’t have much lore. You just said hello to the Arataki gang, played songs, and then got rewards. Simple. For stuff like that it makes perfect sense to end it after a short period. But for quests like SAS, it doesn’t make sense to put so much lore into a time-gated event. I saw dozens of players who missed the event because they didn’t even know it was time-gated and had taken a break from the game. Believe me, _a lot_ of people complained about the very same thing and openly stated how annoyed they were that HoYo put so much story into something so temporary. Just look up a play through of the quest and look through the comments. Lots of people weren’t happy. What about the OG players in that case? The ones who took a break or had some other reason for not being able to participate? Such huge amounts of lore shouldn’t be exclusive like that. I wasn’t asking HoYo to preserve every single event, I was merely pointing out how inconvenient it is to miss a huge chunk of lore just because you weren’t (or couldn’t be, in my case, as I knew of Genshin and wanted to play but didn’t have the means to do so) playing the game when it took place.

I think the biggest issues Genshin's facing right now are: artifact farming, ascension mats, and co-op. You can farm artifacts for years and still not get that "one" artifact you really want. There's no safety net or something. With ascension mats being locked behind the story (Inazuma), you cannot ascend a certain character unless you unlock a certain area. With co-op ... it's really lacking IMO.

That's why I think hoyo should add a reward for new permanent content like some kind of item that can increase your 1 sub stat for 1 time. In this way you still need to farm domains to get your perfect 4 sub stats, but without stressing out about stat rolls. Ascension mats problem can be easily solved by adding a new vendor in Mond that can exchange a special currency that you're getting from quests. Said vendor could sell any material from any region, similarly to FGO.

Genshin really really REALLY needs to rerun their limited time story events, or just make them not always drop such huge lore bombs. Locking that kind of information behind a time wall that not all players get to experience is a sure fire way to give your game the slow burn death. Regarding the standard banner, it wouldnt be an issue if they added old limited 5-stars to the banner. I love Genshin, but I completely agree about that getting lost thing. I joined around about midway through 2.6, so Ayaka's banner, and can say that I do feel a lot of sadness about the stuff I've missed, and the fact that every event seems to assume you've attended all the previous ones is very confusing. I get they're trying to build this world up, but the thing is that Genshin players are all starting at different stages, so it's not going to make sense to everyone, and the percentage of people it does make sense to is slowly dwindling. Narrative dissonance is not a good thing, and when I find myself skipping through the dialogue because I can't enjoy it, it shows there's a problem with your writing.

I haven't really thought of this before but... everytime I get into combat, my only thought is "beat the enemy as fast as possible". All, or at least most of the enemies (especially the newer ones) have super annoying mechanics like jumping away from you, or have obscure ways to make themselves invincible (and don't communicate it well towards the player either), and on top of that we have to kill maybe hundreds of then to get enough drops for farming purposes, so you just don't wanna engage with them at all, or as little as possible. At least to me, this is what drives me mostly to get as good artifacts as possible so i can get rid of them asap, but it's a really sad realization too. Even the boss-tier mobs are guilty of this, they wait around and waste your time way too much (unless you're doing some kind of self-imposed challenge, then it can be kinda fun)

This is the best idea, for all players really (even mobile), and what kind of makes this worse is that Hoyo ALREADY does this with one of their other games, Honkai Impact 3rd. So not only are they totally capable of doing it with Genshin, they are with another game, which makes it all the more frustrating. I started playing the beginning of this year, so I obviously missed everything before then. I hate that I missed out on the first intro to Scaramouche, Albedo's quests, the Golden Apple arc. For the 2.8 island event we are just going back to the Golden Apple Archipelago. But if new players that weren't in the 1st archipelago event, they wouldn't know the story how or why the islands are there. Maybe Hoyoverse will add something like an extra dialogue for new players during the story, but it still won't solve the issue where the new players won't know the full story. unpopular opinion: when you level up and enemies get high HP and high damage, it does not make it harder, it just takes longer to kill the average enemy. Imagine upgrading your equipment thinking you would take less to kill the average enemy, but the game buffs the enemies more than you per level and it ends up taking more and more time to kill regardless of how much time you put into it. Unless you are at the top levels, the average enemies turn into a bunch of mini-boss-like enemies that you can't just brush it off.

"I would argue the problems facing brand new players are more important" Honestly, very much the best way to look at this. Thousands upon thousands of takes, shreds of advice, angry comments, and intelligent conversation can be said for the end game, or limited time story relevant content, all of which can be valid in it's own right. But the most important part of a game's lifespan is it's early game. How it hooks, treats, teaches and introduces players to the game is what keeps a game going strong for years upon years on end, and if the game "gets good after [X] hours" then the game is being developed wrong. Plus the person claiming that is genuinely not making a good case for their game, in fact doing the exact opposite with what that implies in the mind of the prospective new player. The introduction should reflect the best part of the game once it has it's identity so someone who is just as likely to drop your hard made product as they are to keep playing when they start has incentive to keep going. Sadly, this is a key piece of design that seems gravely overlooked in a lot of games, some of them even actively sabotaging themselves in this manner (Elsword, a game I have a decade of experience in, as an example of this since they have removed so much of what made the early game intriguing and fun), and only serves as the gateway to squandering the potential games like Genshin have. Mind, I do enjoy Genshin at it's gameplay level overall, and agree with essentially all of the points made in the video, but even with my own bias aside, it's hard to deny with reasonable evaluation that Genshin does have great potential, especially evidenced by it's explosive release. The new player experience is key, and a lot of problems we see now such as the numbers bloat of so many leveling systems in place, the limited time story relevant quests which really should not be a concept in the first place, the lopsided and unfun progression and play of one's team, and the equal parts unbelievably arcane and baffling steps taken to "balance" the world around the player being targeted at END GAME players rather than around reasonable expectation of a steady progression could be solved by addressing the gap between Monstadt/Liyue and Inazuma. Fixing the "Dent in the armor" that is the difficulty curve will lead to fixing the numbers bloat will lead to fixing the progression and so on and so forth. It would be a process but it's not too late, just a LOT of work and some lost dollars.

I didn't read your entire comment, too long, but I disagree with "new players' experience is more important in any game". Couldn't be more wrong there. Nearly every game I've played, has failed when it focused on newer players over veteran ones. It's easy to get into games, it's not easy to keep a steady retention for 1+ year. The commitment and player retention is the primary, literally primary carrier for any gacha game. The retention factor is what keeps the game going. I've seen major games that started out so well, but then didn't care anything about veteran players, as a result of which were discarded by said players. Veteran players look for "a valuable experience", and that's what genshin is doing right. It's engaging enough at the beginning anyway, so that newer players are easily getting into it. One of my friends is AR55 in just 88 days. So no, I disagree entirely with your idea. I've always believed a game succeeds with the retention of veteran players. Specially a game that is story oriented, version update oriented, and a game that is meant to complete in atleast 5 years.

@@fangservicex2964 Completely fair. I don't blame anyone for disagreeing in the end because of how complicated of an issue it is, and admittedly, while the new player experience is undeniably important, as things stand currently, Genshin does have one that works well enough, for the most part. There are significantly more problems, like what you brought up here and in the video, that must be addressed too at the same time, if not sooner, as things currently stand. That being said, I don't believe I am wrong in saying that once a game has it's identity the new player experience should mirror the best parts of a game if it means to survive, but that's a given considering it's my opinion and I naturally have my own bias to it. In the end, though, I know we both are saying our own piece in the direction of "I mostly like Genshin and want it to be good". Thank you for indulging my take for the most part, at the least. Interesting to know your stance and thoughts more in depth in what I viewed as a crucial step.

That elsword comment hit home about how initial release was something exciting to look forward to. However, they gutted so many mechanics to make end game unbelievably hard without spending money or spending copious amount of time. I'm talking about months to years if you're playing daily. I really hope Genshin doesn't get to that point and gut it's game for the sake of money making. It has a lot of potential but we will have to see if Mihoyo wants to listen their overall audience. I hope one day some of those limited time events could be permanent or on a rotation for people to experience again.

@@NoBodyUKnow100 While I do understand new player experience is important, it's not as important as veteran player retention. Now that said, I do think there's some ways Genshin could implement systems to make the early parts of the game better for newer players. But at the same time, I'd rather focus on implementing things that'd help most everyone. Making it so artifacts have some aspect of control to them, would help things immensely. I recommend a system to be able to reroll a stat for a different stat, maybe it's just 1 stat, maybe you reroll all substats, maybe you can lock a substat and mainstat but the rest are rerolled, there's any number of ways they could approach it, and all of them would improve things immensely, regardless of whether you're a veteran or new player. Also resin should recharge faster and you should have more (5 min recharge with 280 to 300 max). This would help everyone again, if resin is more plentiful, then you don't need to worry about doing sub-optimal early artifact farming while you try to reach the AR lvl for 5 star artifacts. And you'd have more resin to farm more things much faster, overall a generally good change. Adding more end game content, as spiral abyss is currently the only thing that refreshes regularly that can be considered endgame. Additional endgame content would vastly improve things for veteran players who're bored. I'd also add in content that's easily accessible mid-game to let newer players get things earlier, small zones, like a pocket region, in a domain in certain earlier areas. These areas would have some specialty items from a different region (like say Inazuma, despite you not reaching it yet). The boss for these interesting domains could be the bosses specific to that region, but they rotate every day. Meaning it's not easy to farm mats for characters when you don't have their region unlocked yet, but could still technically farm them while you work towards unlocking said region. I'd also make all the event story quests permanent (though the golden apple archipelago, summer event islands would be rather hard to do given the limited space for phones since Genshin devs want to keep the mobile playerbase, as such that one may not be as simple to just add back in), as most are in regions we can get to when they would otherwise be relevant. This would somewhat help with the supposed difficulty spike when reaching Inazuma (though honestly there's plenty of games with a difficulty spike you need to overcome, FGO has several, one being the Camelot singularity, there's also some spots in Dark Souls, or Nioh which also have difficulty spikes). The other thing that helps would be those earlier domains that're mini-regions, as it'd be something you could choose the difficulty of due to it being a domain of sorts. Also the statement "the game gets good after X hours" being bad is kinda untrue in certain aspects. Sure if the statement is "The game gets good after you've put in 100 hours or so" then it'd not be ideal. But if it's "The game gets good after 10 to 30 hours" then it's not really bad, especially for a gacha game or even an mmo. Cause Genshin being a gacha game, means you would be putting hundreds of hours into it, so spending a fraction of that to reach a good spot would be fine. It's just the way gacha games are, now Genshin does have an alright opening act in my opinion. The only problem being it takes a bit before you can actually get a free 10 roll for your "tutorial roll", well compared to other gacha games at any rate. It would also help if they buffed older characters, and added some of the limited 5 stars to the permanent pool. They might eventually do this, since Honkai does it, but who knows how long before they start doing so. And lastly they could drop the pity to 50, with hard pity being 100 for the guarantee (mostly cause it's a nice number to look at and is more reasonable). The new player experience may not be the most ideal, but it's not terrible right now, might be worse later on if they don't implement anything similar to what I've recommended.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on story content being removed from the game after a couple of weeks. It’s incredibly stupid. I actually started playing during the Unreconciled Stars event in 1.1, however I was just learning the game and had no idea there was a timed event happening until it was over. I curse Mihoyo all the time for robbing me of the chance to participate in that story. Mona and Fischl are finally reappearing together in 2.8, but it doesn’t change the fact that they keep removing quality story content from the game for no discernible reason. Like, make the rewards limited time if you want, and the mini games, but the story should be permanent. It’s just common sense. I don’t know. Apparently this is par for the course in gacha games.

Tbh, I think it’s just Genshin that removes access to event stories. But, they do seem to be making some changes. Take Perilous Trail for example. . The story is intact since it’s an Interlude, but the combat/rewards were time-limited. Soon, Genshin will allow the option to delete past story events to save space. I hope they’ll add event stories as Interludes in the future whenever they backtrack… but that’s probs hoping for too much xd. More reasonable to believe event stories going forward have a chance to not be patch-dependent.

The "no discernable" reason you're looking for is memory space. Majority of the people that play this game are on mobile. The game was designed for mobile. It's better on bigger devices but was ultimately created for mobile. It's unfortunate, it really is. But that's just how the cookie crumbles. If you want to experience the limited time events, you have to during their runs. That's what keeps people playing. It's the same as watching a movie in a cinema vs watching it at home on TV. If someone just got into cinema now, don't you think they'd prefer watching films like "Inception" "Dune" "Interstellar" or "Doctor strange" on the big screen? Yeah they would, because that's the better experience. But why isn't that possible? Because for the theaters to make space for the newer ones, they have to let go of the older ones. Would you berate a theater for keeping "Spiderman No Way Home" in its theaters for 6 weeks the same way you berate Hoyoverse with Genshin? No, you wouldn't. The difference is that with the cinema you've come to understand what it is and how the system works. It's unfortunate that so many don't get to experience the big screen experience to movies they want for a multitude of reasons, but that's the pull. If you want to, you're incentivized to when it's still available. It's the same with genshin, the difference is that too many people in this community refuse to accept what genshin is. They're constantly trying to morph it into something it isn't. Be it a endless endgame game like Destiny, a PvP game like Call of Duty, or some sort of endless cache of story regardless of space. Genshin just simply isn't that type of game. Accept it and keep quiet, don't accept it and move on. Either way, stop making noise.

@@Aerith-77x Essentially I’d like an approach similar to Honkai, where it asks if you want to download basic resources or all assets, in terms of each story content. And with the new update, offer to uninstall completed content to cut back on storage space. ------------------ Your theater analogy to compare storage space mostly makes sense to me. However, the game comparison isn’t really relevant to the genres Genshin are hitting: mobile gachas and role-playing games. Genshin is a PvE RPG, so you can’t really compare it to a PvP FPS like CoD. The only PvP content is Windtrace, which is an event as it probably should be. I don’t know enough about Destiny, but Genshin is still a live service WIP, so it’s not the best comparison, I think. I haven’t really seen too many people make those comparisons either. In my opinion, watching movies greatly differ from the experience of watching cutscenes in video games. The cutscenes are somewhat interactive (even if it just boils down to the illusion of choice and moving around on the map), whereas watching movies are more passive of an experience. The main point is that certain events in Genshin are time-limited. Not based on account progress, but based on the passage of real time. And these stories are relevant to the game’s lore and plot. Unlike the theater slot space example, these stories depend on each other. Genshin is also planning to allow players to delete past events (including voice files) to save storage space on their device. I’m hoping this applies to Hangouts (use the key then download resources; uninstall option once 100%). So I’m somewhat optimistic that Genshin can retroactively add the event stories to the game with plot relevance, similar to that of Perilous Trail (no event rewards).[Altho a GBF approach would be nice…] Ideally these can be made as packets to download on the side after reaching certain progress in the game (download then uninstall when finished, like in GBF or Guardian Tales), or Genshin can rerun the story events after some time (like in Dragalia). On your forced choice, I shall pick neither- I will continue to not accept it and not keep quiet about it. I think it could be a helpful feature for new and old players alike, as Genshin is a story-based game. I’ll probably bring this up during the next relevant survey period.

@@Aerith-77x It wasn't my intention, but clearly I offended you. I'm fully aware of what Genshin Impact is, and (aside from the absolute torture of artifact acquisition) I have made peace with that fact. I will say, your example of seeing a film in theaters vs. seeing it at home is poorly chosen. When a film leaves theaters, it doesn't vanish from existence. You didn't miss your one and only chance to ever see it. You can buy infinite copies of the film and watch it at your leisure on your phone, on your computer or on your 200 inch flat screen television. In a game like Genshin, in order to "take part" in a story event you missed, you have to hope someone else recorded it and posted it online somewhere. And then you have to hope they didn't skip whole swathes of dialog or choose a conversation option you wouldn't have picked. A pathetic way to experience video game content, if I'm to be honest. If I were to guess, I would say you are a mobile-only player and you are extremely hateful of PC and Playstation players discriminating against you for "holding the game back." I am no such person. But even if that isn't the case, I advise you to stop jumping to conclusions and, in the future, refrain from telling people to "keep quiet and stop making noise."

I feel like catching up to a single player open world like genshin isn’t the way to go. What I believe the right way to play is that to play at your own pace and enjoy the story. Play your favorite character not the meta. Really what is the point of catching up, either way, you going to experience it sooner or later.

Same. While I did create my account from 1.0, I was too busy with irl stuff (final college thesis and I did passed it) so I hadn't really played the game that much until second half of 1.2 and I missed the Scaramouche and Albedo event. I'd choose my studies first over playing genshin of course, but it stings that you're not able to play those time limited story events, at least the important ones. I can live missing out Lantern Rite event story but not the ones alike that I mentioned before.

Based on how you play and what characters you pull, this game will either be a cakewalk or very difficult. The disparity is unreal and Hoyoverse doesn't try to be inclusive to both sides. End game content (Abyss) is too hard for casual players and the low primos don't help. Then for tryhard players like myself, you complete it and then there's nothing else to do thats meaningful. Open world gets boring after doing the same chest grinding for a year so there should be some sort of permanent activity(not talking about the Statue of Seven or Tree) that encourages open world exploration but there's really not.

Of course they don't want easy parity between f2p and pay players. This game's cash shop is just about the gacha with a few skins tossed on top. That said I know someone who personally hasn't spent a dollar but through luck has an extremely powerful roster that clears spiral very easily most rotations. I also don't understand why people feel genshin needs to be a game you can play every single day for hours and have something "fun" to do for all that time without running out. Is that even realistic? Why not just treat it as a game that you hop on for a few minutes a day IF you want to and otherwise just step away from until something that interests you comes around?

True, the fact that 5* characters like kazuha, zhongli, ganyu, hutao are branded as "must pull" or "broken" is just a bad thing for the game itself. People who dont have such characters will obviously feel frustrated about ingame content and even coop. Worse even, the community is absolutey inconsistent and just a bunch of illiterate bandwagoners, who will only blindly repeat everything that the CN community says about characters. Example, they called kazuha a "budget venti" , and now it took forever to get his rerun, when literally everyone was dying for him. For old players its not such a problem, but new players are going to be absolutely frustrated about not having "broken characters".

I mean an extremely powerful roster capable of clearing spiral abyss is one of the many 4* National and Taser variants of which you can even use Barbara in. The difference is usually character progression, game knowledge, and unfortunately stubbornness. The most common thing I see is that players have all the pieces they need to complete Spiral Abyss but will just refuse to use them, complain about having to use them, and then will blame their problems on not having X limited 5* (usually Zhongli.)

As a person who's played many different gacha games, a difficulty spike is usually quite common, hell even in non-gacha games, you can have notable difficulty spikes, Dark Souls or Nioh are excellent examples. It's a matter of being prepared for the content, now I do think the game could've more easily translated that to new players. And I am by no means saying that Genshin isn't in fact getting rougher for new players. As there's a number of events that will happen that require you to have cleared certain parts of the story up to it. Now that's nothing new, a lot of other games has that, FGO, a big, long time running gacha game based on the ever-popular Fate series, also has a majority of newer events requiring clearing up to a certain part in the story, but occasionally you'll have events that only require you having cleared the first singularity (basically first chapter). I do well and truly believe there is several issues that will bog Genshin down, characters isn't really one of them, it's a gacha game after all, and by Gacha game standards, the amount of characters isn't that high, it's actually on the lower or average side of things. FGO has over 300 characters in it, mostly for JP server as the NA server is 2 years behind. MWA (millennium war aigis) is another old gacha game, which has nearly a thousand characters (now technically there is a lot of overlap as characters will have different versions, like say one normal version, and then maybe a swimsuit version, FGO also has overlap in this same manner but they're counted as different units/servants, so I will count them as such too). Both those games are fine all things considered, though FGO is less f2p friendly on the gacha side of things, as the pity is 330 rolls (you do a 10x roll, and get 1 free roll, so technically 10x +1, or rather 900 SQ instead of 990 due to the extra +1 roll, but you must get the pity before the banner changes, so it's not very helpful for f2p at all). MWA on the other hand is more f2p friendly than Genshin, with a pity of 33 for it's highest rarity (which there is 6 stars), there's also many events that give characters straight up or easily after spending maybe an hour at most on it (depends on the event type). FGO also gives free servants with some events but it generally requires a lot more work. That said, neither of these games have equipment per say. MWA you focus entirely on lvling up your units (and then class changing or awakening them, think of it like evolving or ascending them), and their skill. As MWA is mostly a tower defense style game (think Arknights), meanwhile for FGO, you have servants, which you mostly focus on them also. They have 3 skills, you lvl and ascend servants similar to Genshin, you lvl skills in a similar manner too. You also have append skills (these are extra passives that go with the servant's inherent passives), which can be lvled up like regular skills. The only "equipment" is the CE (craft essence) you have on them and whatever mystic code you have on yourself for that mission. Meanwhile for Genshin you have character lvl, ascending them to raise max lvl (which is similar in the other games I mentioned), character talents (which I consider equivalent to skills for the other games), weapon (with it's lvl, ascension and refinement), and artifacts (which are the bane of my and everyone else's existence and patience). I believe that of these factors, artifacts are by far the biggest problem. Also for Husk vs Petra, that depends on if the Geo character scales with def or not. Zhongli uses Tenacity of Millelith, with Bolide set being 2nd best arguably. And likewise for Ningguang she's better off with 2 piece petra, and 2 piece noblesse than full husk, at least in my opinion. But for Itto, Noelle, Albedo, and Gorou, Husk is by far the go to. Still regardless of that, farming artifacts without a stat reroll system in place is a pain. Maybe you have a nearly decent artifact, but it's got one terrible stat (like elemental mastery for a geo character), you spend a separate item to reroll the EM stat to something else. If they were to implement a system that works like that to reroll stats on artifacts, as well as a system that lets you change the set an artifact is part of. Then people would be far happier playing Genshin on the farming side of things. For difficulty, as stated before there are plenty of other beloved games with difficulty spikes that are still doing just fine. FGO has a difficulty spike when you reach the camelot singularity (which you can completely trivialize in a couple ways, either having a charm lock team, charm makes it so enemies skip their turn, works the same if you have a stun lock team also, or you have Hercules with his bond CE equipped, a bond CE is a CE you get for reaching lvl 10 bond lvl, think of that like friendship for Genshin, cause he just doesn't die then, at least not easily). But for veterans, many would say Genshin might be too easy now, since there's not much high difficulty content beyond the spiral abyss. Genshin could implement more high difficulty content permanently into the game to encourage the players who want a challenge, and give people more to do with their maxed out characters. Also I do think the event stories should be permanent unlockables that you can do, sadly the summer islands would be harder as that's an entirely different zone that was added just for that event. But the other event quests that take place on Dragonspine or other areas should be permanent as they're all technically canon anyway, and they'd not be that hard to add. The UI issues aren't a big deal to me, as there's more pressing concerns, if the UI isn't ideal but everything else is fine, then I'm not too bothered by it, and will only make occasional mention of it. But if everything else isn't fine, then I don't even bother complaining about the UI so long as it's passable because again, there's more pressing concerns. Which leads to resin, there's not enough resin, and it recharges too slow for those that want to spend a lot of time on Genshin. I'd reduce the recharge time to 5 mins, and increase the resin such that you can store up to 24 hours worth of resin. This would mean 288 resin, but we can round that to either 280 or 300 to make things look nicer, regardless the resin system should be improved further, this would also help with farming for f2p and whale players. I'd also drop the pity to 50, this way hard pity is a nice even 100. As such you wouldn't really need to improve the amount of primogems you get per week all that much to make things substantially better for the players. The more things seem fair, the looser people are with their money because they feel like the devs care. Players will throw money at devs they think give a damn, meaning the devs wouldn't see much difference in their long term profits. But if they really wanted to get money from players easily, give all the characters a paid swimsuit outfit, you would easily see a massive influx of money as people buy that up (because people are horny, for better or worse). Finally, buff some of the older characters, Amber, Klee, Venti (though Venti is still a good meta pick, it just depends on what's in the abyss during that rotation), and add a few of the limited 5 stars to the permanent pool. I'd also like to see more 4 star characters added more often, and given as event rewards (we usually do get a 4 star for certain big events, I just want to see a few more instances of that). And there's my essay, regardless of whether or not you agree with me, I do thank all those who did read it.

problem with genshin and difficulty is that, whenever genshin wants to add difficulty, what they actually do is make it a time trial, or make enemies unnafected by x element, where the only way to actually beat it is to make the game a number crunching simulator with gear and builds what they dont realize, what we know from games like nioh, dark souls and so on, is that skill based and build making arent conflicting things. Even if you have a game entirely skill based, if theres a route to be overpowered, people flock to it they really need to find a way to increase the weight of skill in the skill-build spectrum honestly. When they evenuallu maybe,redesign or expand the endgame, it would be nice to have something more substantial than just “beat it faster” but i mean im no game designer. But i really dont think issue is gear nor character, its mostly fight design that is turning into a glorified training dummy that you just gotta beat by sheer numbers. They have to add something more fufilling to beat.

There's a lot of problems when it comes to gameplay, but I'm of the opinion that these are things that can be easily fixed. Hoyoverse just doesn't want to because their janky artifact system and the constellations make them money. However, things like how the game is rigged against both new and old players HAS to be fixed because the old players are getting so sick of it and it is clear they'll lose many old players if Sumeru is bad, while they'll likely have trouble keeping or gaining new players despite their aggressive advertising because you basically have to grind as a new player. But the thing that I really hate currently is the writing. I don't know if it is because they got lazy or because of them trying to deal with laws, but the writing really jumped off a cliff in Inazuma. I know some people like it, but I have been unable to appreciate it since the Archon quest in Inazuma because it basically went from a climatic built up of a civil war that might be impossible to win due to meddling from outside forces to the revelation that the Raiden Shogun might be the first Archon we would not be able to civily speak to because she was basically a tyrant to "and then everything was okay because of the power of friendship!" Like, Ei suffers absolutely NO consequences even though she had a civil war going on. There's no turbulence within Inazuma, not even in a quiet manner, and we're somehow her friend?? It's just terrible writing and things since then just tend to be a cointoss on whether they're bad or good. As far as I'm concerned, they want to get anywhere, fix the writing and then focus on the gameplay and gacha aspects.

@@highoverclock That's her character not the story itself. Remember that there are character quests and the archon quest. Imo, the archon quest's third act was incredibly confusing. Firstly, Signora died way too fast unless she's somehow alive. Secondly, how did Gorou and Kazuha know where we are or I missed something important. Thirdly, it felt so rushed. Like we just finished killing off Signora and suddenly, we're fighting off Ei again? Like it feels so anti-climatic or just forced especially after the PTSD moment. Another problem that I have is Gorou and Kokomi. They are playable characters yet we get more screen time for Teppei? Kokomi's quest doesn't do any justice as well. The entire quest is just downgraded Yanfei's quest.

I hate Dragon Spine, the only reason I was there was for the domain and event, but now that's over, I have zero reasons to even go back there, its a dead map for me. Fishing! a completely forgettable activity once you've maxed that spear weapon, after that, there's no more reason to get back into fishing. Is collecting Oriental fishes even exciting? Majority of the dropped items are for ascension, other than that, they're just there stocking up in your inventory, is there no consumable craftable item that uses these? reasons for me to get back out there and collect them? I’m so happy I found this video and all the people in the comments. Strangely, I thought I was the only one who felt overwhelmed and just genuinely conflicted. Keeping up with the “story events” is the main issue for me. When I get back into it, the first thing that comes to mind is all the five star items that have come out recently. But that’s easy. Just go to the archive menus, look through them, and you’ll know what you missed (and it’s not much). This issue lies with story continuity. There’s just too much to follow. We already have hundreds of world quests, the hangouts, the story quests, the archon quests. But then they have to add things like The Golden Apple Archipelago event which makes players disspaointed and beat-up when they learned that they missed it. And part of what makes this so frustrating is that Hoyoverse just seems to be going after quantity rather than quality. The sheer amount of dialogue I force myself to sit through and listen to is concerning. I’m supposed to enjoy listening to these beloved characters… right? I find myself telling myself over and over again that “Eventually I’ll get back into it” or “It’ll get good again, I’ll enjoy it again” but it’s already been a year and I’ve never been more uninterested. I’m afraid Hoyoverse won’t care about loyal players like us. They only really care about how much money you’re willing to spend. And until that changes (if it does change), then I’ll be stuck feeling like I will never enjoy this game ever again.

I was really into Genshin for a really long time, I got a bunch of characters to lvl 80 and began the grind for artificats but got burnt out as I didn't get the character I wanted before their banner ran out and my artifact grinding wasn't really yielding anything good. So I quit the game. Later on I saw a trailer for Yae and wanted to open Genshin again for her. I stopped playing when it was still just Monstadt and Liyue so I was stuck behind a LOT of content. I used a bit of old saved up primogems and got Yae. I was really excited and tried to level her up but then realized I literally couldn't level her up past 40. So I had to sit through HOURS of story that I literally didn't care about anymore and had to do Yoimiya's and Ayaka's story quests (which were such a slog that I wanted to quit) just to lose interest in the game again by the time I was able to defeat the enemy I needed to get Yae's materials. Mihoyo has got to do something about this cause if someone pulls a character from Sumeru but is still in Monsdtat they are fucked.

I think they kind of added Inazuma things to Mondstat. And when I say things, I mean ONE mechanic. They added some of the wolves to Monstadt in literally one spot. So when you farm those mats you're pretty much done for the day. But realisitcally, how would one incorporate things from another region into an older region when they didn't do it in the very beginning. It's weird. It's like taking a plant from Inazuma and then saying it suddenly grows in Mondstat. Seaweed, you could probably make a reason for saying it grows in Mondstat but then how would you put a world boss from Enkanomiya into Mondstat? There are mechanics that we need to understand that makes sense from a gameplay and lore perspective. And just because some people don't care about lore doesn't mean the entire playerbase doesn't care about lore. If they moved Inazuma item to Mondstat, think about taking something that grows strictly in the US and then telling people that it also started growing in China or Japan. (Obviously, with modern advancements these kinds of things are more possible now but that's in our reality not Genshin reality.) As for playing through story we don't care about, it's normal for nearly any game. I'm sure you've played those games where you have a starting point and it maps out the next fewlevels for you but it's greyed out because you didn't complete it or reach a certain number of stars so that particular level did not unlock yet. But it makes sense that Yoimiya's, Ayaka's, and Yae's mats are in Inazuma. They are from Inazuma afterall. You could play through the content with whatever characters you do have and have to put X character on the backburner until you are able to get to their resources.

Another big problem with some of the events is that they give you weapons as rewards - and in the case of the lore ones, those weapons are replacements for the 5* and sometimes even BiS weapons for certain characters, e.g. Dodoco Tales for Klee or Cinnabar Spindle for Albedo. There are actually only two swords in the entire game that have DEF bonus as a substat and the other one is a 3*. Which basically leaves a lot of players with a character that can't reach their full potential because... reasons, I guess? The weapon situation in Genshin is just plain ridiculous, the weapons' banner is absolutely terrible to the point that even content creators don't want to pull on it because there is no guarantee you'll get something decent before spending hundreds of dollars just to get one copy of the chosen weapon. At the very least, you can buy gadgets now and even if they are a tad bit expensive, it doesn't take long to save up if you really want the lyre, for example. So clearly hyv could do something like that for the older weapons (Festering Desire or Fischl's bow) but they don't want to. And it's not even a money issue since those weapons were free in the first place. (An anecdote: I literally did the whole Enkanomiya event in barely 12 hours just to get the weapon because I knew I wouldn't be able to get Kagura's Variety and I desperately needed a weapon for Yae. I did not enjoy the event. I don't even remember what happened because I skipped through most of the dialogue just to finish it as fast as possible.)

I eventually got to a point were I wouldn’t unlock my world level until I was good and fully prepared, and then it would go up twice instead of once after the trial. That was my experience for WL 5-8 (if I’m remembering the cap right) even earlier game I spent maybe 1hr in Wl 4? And then I was just- suffering.

Funnily enough, some stuff in this video doesn't really talk about problems in Genshin, but problems in live service and gacha games in general. And if the problem lies in the genre, I don't think there's anything Hoyoverse can do. Because they're just following the stereotype of these games Now don't get me wrong, there are some parts that is still specifically about Genshin's problem(artifact system, etc), but a lot of it is the problems in the genre in general(character leveling, fear of missing out, etc) (and also, I know the title says "it won't last" but you gotta admit that the game will still last for some good 5-6 years)

Yeah imo Genshin is basically the same as other gacha games too. Genshin is not a RPG or MMO games. The problem in Genshin is probably lack of end-game content. I read an "analyst" online and they said that judging by how much Mihoyo earned, It should probably lasts 10 years minimum.

shoutout to the English forum threads for another gacha game I still play that have asked "is this game dead?" when it's currently running past its 8th year now and is still updating regularly & maintaining its EN-language support even when its parent company released another smash hit game last year exclusively in Japan that eclipses its older titles both in fame and sheer revenue records despite how relatively super niche it is overseas lol;; Certainly some of these ideas brought up are not a problem exclusive to Genshin itself, a lot of these feel like "baby's first gacha/ live service game" because these folks are unfamiliar & uncomfortable with the norms of the genre (gacha game models, character release & balancing concepts, MMORPG patch update cycles, 'season'-based MOBA game releases, marketing/monetization tactics involved, etc). At the end of the day, regardless of how strong a consumer feels about a game, no matter how "good" or "bad" it gets, it really depends on the publisher/developer/ outside circumstances affecting these games that decide whether "it'll last" even if we can spectate or guess how it'll go given whatever clues we get from an outsider's perspective. Sure, there's some merit to these doomposts when they mention specific problems and offer solutions but at the same time....these guys don't really know enough about the finer details into all of these games, huh;;

I'm surprised you didn't mention the Switch version that's still in development. For a lot of people, that's going to be their first time playing Genshin. With the current issues for newer players, that's going to leave a terrible impression. Realistically a Switch version probably won't happen till after 3.0 and it probably won't be able to run it. Maybe around Ver 1.0 it could've run.

Switch won't be getting genshin because genshin is apparently very badly optimized. After inazuma came out, my phone can't run it on medium or high, and it has snapdragon 855. Hell, even my m1 iPad struggles with it sometimes. And switch? Tegra is literally 2 times slower than 855, how can it possibly work? with 10 fps and graphics worse than low? And I bet with sumeru things will get worse once again, if it's part of the main map.

When Raiden came out I commented somewhere that Genshin would be increasingly difficult to new players. I had a maxed account and made an alt account so I could get Raiden. I had planned for that one to be my "fun and take it slow" account. Then I realized I wouldn't be able to level Raiden effectively until Inazume ... only Inazuma without nearly a year of playing would be tough. Even with maxed account I could tell Inazuma enemies were tougher. Anyway, a lot of people jumped all over me and called me a hater. Gotta admit the more of videos like yours (very in-depth, btw) that come out give me a bit of schadenfreude! It is a problem. SP games cater to types of players. Genshin needs to cater to the players who want constant challenge and to the more casual ones who love to feel godlike as they lay waste around them or those who just want to go through and explore and play with the story. Because of that I don't see an easy solution for this ongoing problem.
@oceancouchy9656

Inazuma tough? I'm sorry, I never really had any kind of problem in any of the regions, on both my accounts. It's just that inazuma's mobs have a good chunk of hp, but the game gives you what you need right off the bat in terms of characters. The game open world is fairly easy for casual players, you should be able to get into inazuma with less than 3 months worth of playing.

Personally I started playing near the end of last year and got to inazuma within a month or two and I never experienced any major difficulty issues. Though admittedly that could be because I had Yun Jin who’s skill felt like a hard counter to a lot of the new enemy types’ attacks. I think the bigger issue with the new player experience is newer characters’ ascension materials being locked behind areas that are literally unreachable without 20+ hours of playtime. I think for the game to be new player friendly in the long term, ascension materials either need to be purchasable in the shop like other leveling materials are or have the ability to be converted like ascension crystals. It’s going to suck if a new player spends a lot of money trying to get a new character they want and can’t even use them for the next 30 hours of gameplay due to their materials being exclusive to sumeru

@@trevordavis6830 hard to say about that, because the bosses in the story itself have been tuned down to not be a threat for new players. So, they won't struggle to get the required materials, unless they upgrade their world level and can't keep up, but that happens to anyone who rush too quickly tbh. But you can buy every materials in the glitter shop, just the natural resources likes ores and flowers requires you to go to the specific location yeah. But you can get any character to lvl 40 if you just do their trial, and that's enough for the story up to inazuma (in my experience)

Right? I'm in the same boat with you. I love the game but Inazuma really felt like a major difficulty spike to me. I just asked if anyone else thought that inazuma felt harder compared to the first two regions and got piled on.

it's also a pain for character ascension materials to be in places that you aren't able to explore yet, and you can't buy it. like, if you got a 5 star from a limited banner, you'd be fine for the 1st ascension since the test run is there, and the rewards are the for the first ascension, but lvl 40 won't last you very long.

As someone who plays GI from day one, the difficulty problems, as you've mentioned, did not affect me, much, but I can see the problem for new players. The problem with past events that had important story elements is one that I have with almost all mmorpgs. Why remove the events? Just add them to a roadmap kind of thing and tell the new players which one to do when! The thing is, in GI there's also a technical point about this: this is essentially a mobile game and these events usually have a lot of voice lines and usually a couple of cutscenes. So if they keep them all, the game size would not be feasible on a mobile device. Just a thought! Anyway, for me, the most egregious problems with Genshin are lack of end-game content and Artifact farming! God it's soul-crushing! If good artifacts were a lot easier to get, then you could make multiple builds for each character, then you could mix and match even more, then....oh my god! I'm drooling! Yeah, to summarize, you could have a lot more fun! Also, there's a bit of complacency and laziness about MiHoYo.....or Hoyoverse! THIS is just a prime example. They have officially changed their name, yet the game's icon haven't changed! And the game's menu background in PS4/PS5? That is also still the same as day one! I mean come on!

With Sumeru now going to be released in 3.0, I've been hearing (tho a really small minority) about the idea that you can go to Sumeru first before Inazuma since Sumeru is close/connected in main island with Mond and Liyue. Hopefully the scalling difficulty isn't as harsh as Inazuma, for new players tho.
