Not sure we are watching the same show. Kazuma doesn't really fumble, like, ever. The errors are almost entirely due to circumstance or his party members. They didn't include it in the anime but at one point he does a party swap and it's shown that Kazuma is highly competent all things considered.

Kazuma has a very high luck stat that is only nerfed by the rest of the party. I like to think of it as aqua's also high luck stat causing kazuma's to increase past the limit and loop all the way back around to being zero. Like Gandhi when playing civilization, he starts at max peacefulness stat, but when It increases past the limit and he essentially becomes one of the most aggressive leaders in the game becoming a warlord. 😂

TO BE FAIR to Kazuma he has acted very mature and when opportunity has presented to commit he has done what you would expect from a responsible guy... its the other part that has let him down... even when in the end it worked... so risk of spoiler: When Megumin confesses to him(4th season or a film if we are lucky) he wanted her to kiss her so bad and in the end he also saw she was in an emotional state for killing Wolbach... and said that when she is at peace and if she wants to do it then he will be waiting... and after that he wondered as they both said they have feelings for each other if they are a couple and he should treat her that way but then analyzed Megu could have said things in the heat of the moment and first waited to see her reaction. And next day Megu was nervous csuse even when she felt that way she didnt want to confess yet so she acted like nothing happened and Kazuma after seeing this knew what to do and... well he said he was gonna go to the succubus bar, and Megu got mad saying he cant... and he replied screaming lol WHY? DID SOMETHING HAPPENED YESTERDAY? IS THERE A REASON I CANT GO? And Megu realized they didnt agree to become a couple so she cant actually be angry at him... and just stayed quiet... funny stuff...
