I used to mistaken Araki for just being a proficient Hamon user, as he once mentioned practicing a breathing technique, although evidence seems to point to this not being the case, at least not any longer. Spoilers ahead! Memes aside my headcanon for why Kiryu looks old in his 20s is that he's just not happy with life. He wants to be like Kazama-oyasan, but he's a lowely debt collector, a nobody. He has a family but loses some great friends along the way. In 5, Kiryu is at his lowest after losing everything: his family, his way of life and even his name. Shit just sucks for Kiryu. Kiryu looks youngest in 3, after he gets a family, a reason to live and a clean way of life. In Kiwami 1, Kiryu is fresh out of prison and he's ready to live again. Kiryu literally goes through hell and back for his family and way of life. When he has those he looks young because he is genuinely happy.

i like that kiryu just becomes a fucking sorcerer at 120 years old. also at 48 his skin just suddenly became super fucking radiant, man started glowing. dragon engine is one hell of a skin care routine
