As a tekken fan i appreciate sakurais work on Kazuya he did his homework tekken at its core is a legacy game its EXTREMELY difficult to master and to be even decent is reallly hard the ceiling for mastering taken is really high so the essence of kazuya is that you can be reallly good if you take the time to learn properly

I feel like that’s going to be the case too. He’s shoto K.Rool, a bag full of gimmicks where once everyone finds out how to counter it the gimmicks become niche and not viable. Now, can he still kill you if you stay too close or don’t react to his approaches? Yeah… Overall though he is a full on bruiser that needs to be countered with zoning and spacing.

Dude looks like he might struggle a bit with killing which is probably why they made him faster to rack up damage and gave him so much invincibility + super armor. I think he’ll be good, but not S tier good. He’d get demolished by swordies and characters that use the air a lot. None of his aerials could kill unless you get lucky with the nair, and his reliable kill moves only seem to be two tilts, tipper fsmash, up b and grabs. Good luck trying to get kills/kill confirms against a Lucina or anyone who can reach further than his punch. But honestly, he still looks pretty good and mad fun to watch. I can’t be assuming much since his moveset is so diverse and if someone would be willing to lab him all the way out, he could definitely have a chance to beat some of the best.

And the thing is, Kazuya only ended up with two kill throws: His input throw and up-throw. Oh, and I know the comment is late as hell, but that’s Tekken for you. Any higher level of complication is better for a well practiced player maining him; It just means your opponent not playing him has to know all the options/interactions....which are a ton it looks like. (E.g, retreating f-tilt, and super armor)

nah this time hes got a point, a recovery with a strong hit box and can go the distance, combos you cant even block, mf broke a full shield on one attack, auto turn around so his confirms will be BRAIN DEAD EASY, his damage values are pretty high, tough guy, Hyper armor on smashes, a fast and long reaching projectile that can be angled, side B stuns for a confirm and can be used for recovery without sacrificing up B, BOOSTED RAGE with a K.O punch thats also a command grab and a suicide grab, and thats not even half his kit. You cant help but think this is a little TOO much for one character to have.

@@tomb8073 it's devil fist, low back tilt (the little kick), into devil fist, into low tilt, I tested it, and it didn't loop unless the opponent tries standard get up, or getup attack. Still though, it forces rolls unless your opponent wants to die quick, making reads stupid easy.

Shantae does have a moveset but the potential is not in just having a moveset it's in interest and gimmick. smash bros is the best example of power creep I can find. a newer character in the franchise simply does more things than a character designed in the 1990s and 2000s on average. Kazuya vs Mario for example: Kazuya's side B alone is a combo starter, kill confirm, recovery move, and a burst option. Mario's is a reflector and nothing more. Mario can only do what Kazuya's SIDE B does with 6 of his moves. I feel like the reason for this power creep is partly the want to sell a character to as many people as possible, and the best way to sell to the competitive side of Smash Bros' fan base would be to make the character top tier. But also Sakurai is leaning harder and harder with every character he makes towards accurate franchise representation, so every new character needs to have as many elements from their home game represented in their kit as possible. none of this is inherently a bad thing, in fact we got some genuinely good fighters out of Ultimate's DLC, Kazuya included. However the downside to this new method of design Smash seems to be leaning towards is that it makes some character's kits feel a little bloated and all over the place, Kazuya included... again.
