RX no. Check out the straight pipes review. Deprecated design language in the cockpit, as everything is going toward these wraparound screens these days. Virtually all other luxury car makers have moved away from the old school dashboard and clamped on infotainment screen, but Lexus is still clinging to that design language, making virtually their entire line look seriously dated compared to something like this Nautilus. The biggest strike the RX has against it, and this I know from direct experience, the adaptive cruise and lane keeping functions are incredibly convoluted to implement. I mean, you have to tap this and hitch this stalk upward and then flip it toward you, and then do the hokey Pokey and turn yourself about in order to turn the thing on and set it. Which is pretty useless because by the time you get it figured out you’ve already wrapped yourself around the guard rail. Contrast, BMW, one tap, and the system was up and running, including the auto drive. Lexus is literally asleep at the wheel. I’m not sure exactly what they’re doing or why they’re doing it, but even their high-end GX 550 interior looks like it’s from 2015 or so.

Glad to see that Lincoln didn't go the route so many manufacturers of mid-size SUV's, and cram a third row into it. I have no problem with companies offering a third row option on their vehicles in this segment, but IMHO the percentage of consumers needing that number of seats on a daily basis doesn't constitute the vast majority of buyers. And when they choose to make that third row the default, second row passenger comfort and storage capacity both suffer greatly as a result.

The one thing that I don't see any reviewers talking about, is the difficulty in pressing these haptic and touchscreen buttons ** while driving, ** especially in busy traffic or curvy traffic. It is much more difficult to do than if they kept traditional buttons. The diminishing of actual physical buttons has been going on for a few years now, and I’ve noticed touchscreen buttons are less useful in real world situations. To me that is a big knock. I understand the cool factor and having all the ” Gee whiz “ technology, but after only a few weeks one can see how impractical this is. This could be somewhat of a safety hazard as one tries to concentrate on certain buttons with either unsteady hands, or erratic traffic and bad roads. I'm all for the “Gee Wiz” factor, and I love the new technology, but you don't have to get rid of all the often used, common everyday buttons such as media and environment controls. I just think this aspect is worth noting.

This vehicle looks like a concept car on the inside; you know, when you’re looking at it at some auto show and everyone knows that what you’re looking at is for fun and it reminds you of a Star Trek Enterprise control panel….. All I can see is distraction, annoying inconsistencies in operating and constant software updating…….I wonder how much time went into actually “real life testing “ where a simple / layman guy like myself used this vehicle in real situations? The vehicle looks nice. I just want to not have screen only switch gear. The screens look great, but they are pretty useless, as you will discover all too quickly hidden wonder what the hell you did signing a 60 month high payment financing deal for this. I mean, one of the screens is a clock. A clock. Another has the weather, a digit with a graphic of sun or clouds. Meanwhile, the Infiniti QX80’s screen can combine into a single 180° widescreen view of the front or rear of the vehicle, allowing you to literally see around corners. Had Lincoln implemented something like that, I mean, make these screens actually useful for something other than cosmetic Tom foolery, well then they have something. The giant volume knob is another bizarre engineering choice. Most people would assume that big knob is a jog wheel, allowing you to navigate the array of screens in front of you. I mean, I’m sure that’s what this thing actually should’ve been. But it’s just a volume knob. A volume knob. Add to the fact that modern Lincoln has always had a schizophrenia born of a lack of nerve, beginning with the debut of the Lincoln Continental concept at the 2015 New York auto show. This amazing, sexy concept car got brutally compromised into an incredibly generic looking sedan, I mean a car that looked literally like the white label generic brands you see in a supermarket. A car named Car. However, inside the Lincoln Continental was incredibly gorgeous, an interior still unparalleled today. Most Lincoln vehicles are like this, incredibly lame generic on the outside, just as this Nautilus is, while having simply amazing and gorgeous interiors. Lincoln is an odd company. And, as others have pointed out here, their vehicles depreciate faster than bananas left on your kitchen counter a day too long. A $70,000 Lincoln Continental can be easily had any day now at Carmax for less than 20 grand.
