Hey yall! Just an update - I replaced the stabs with durocks, holee moded them (first time holee modding was a huge success.. no ping at all and no need to add more lube after putting them together!). I also filled the bottom slots with Noico sound dampener, PE foam modded the pcb, and took out the silicone completely. For the gaskets, I stuck d65 gaskets to the little nub sections of the polycarb plate, facing down. Holy hell this thing sounds amazing. it's definitely louder but the marble-y sound and the overall feel is so much better. oh my gosh my spacebar. lol. Anyways, got a new video of the stock only review coming. A video of what you get solely in the 67lite package and how that board sounds. I also recorded all of my modding, but I do want to try the tape mod before finishing that video. Please stay tuned for that.. if you like what I've been putting out please sub! i don't plan on slowing down. Anyways, don't be a stranger!

Hey, quick question - Did you put the sound dampener in the slots towards the bottom of the board? I was wondering because it looks like the slots towards the bottom of the board get thinner than the sound dampener and i was wondering if it affected the feel of the board.
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-vj9ck With the noico, it's thin but dense. so i probably stopped an inch before the shallowest part of the bottom case (under the spacebar basically). You could get away with filling the entire bottom case surface area if you chose to use a PE foam since it can compress, though. Just put more layers of it at the top of the board(under num row) then get increasingly thinner at the bottom. Hope that helps!

Would love to hear a comparison between stock silicone gasket and the new D65 gaskets. I like the sound of this board as is with tempest and PE Foam mods, but I kinda wish the board was a tad louder. And it seems my suspicions were true in that the polycarb plate with the silicone gasket mute the sound a bit more than I would like. Plus, while not as important, I do feel is also not nearly as flexy as I thought the board would be. I'm sure doing true gasket mount would improve this board on so many levels.
@coleydotmp4

@@ProphitDesigns Spoiler for my next video, it worked out fantastic, and it gives it a little bit more flex once the top half of the case is put back on. definitely louder and definitely a better feel. tbh, a better sound, especially with the PE foam mod on the PCB. Stock configuration is definitely quiet- would be good for a workplace. but im wfh >:)

Your Creams sound really good :O I'm currently using new NK Creams as a placeholder until I can finally get myself to lube my Lilac Tactiles, but holy heck do they sound scratchy as heck... How long did it take you to break them in, and did you break them in with some specific method or did you just use them normally for a long time?
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
I go over it quickly in the video, but yeah. I did the foot method where you put the board on the ground, put foam + a book or something flat on top. then press it like a kick drum. I did this for a few days while working with a different keeb. also used the unlubed switches for 1.5-2 weeks in general between kick drum sessions, haha. if you want to normally break them in, it would probably take 3-4 weeks as your daily driver. But that also runs the risk of certain switches like alphas being more broken in than, say, the escape key.
@insu_na
@insu_na 2 жыл бұрын
@@coleydotmp4 Thank you very much for the reply! :) I'll see if that's a method to use for me :D I think I might stick to breaking in the alphas and just randomizing switch position every so often, kick drum sounds like a lot of work :D

using stock creams is not ideal, yours sound pretty good tho 😢 they are just so rough and sound horrible compared to broke in, or something like the gat inks or gat CJs are so much smoother lol! Mind you I do have one set already broken in and they are good but a lot of work! Once broke in, lubed, and filmed it’s a completely different switch! I’m breaking in a set at the moment and I’ve all but given up on it 🤦‍♂️ lol… I will finish them eventually, I wish they would sell them broke in some how or polished 🤔

@@coleydotmp4 I’m sure you will love the CJ switches I just got my second set of CJs in today and I’m excited to get them in a board. My other set of CJs will be staying stock just for comparison purposes. The crazy thing about those new gateron switches? They are so smooth right away no lube what so ever just super smooth typing and good spring weight!
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
@@slowlanekeebs2406 I agree! I just got them in the mail. after a lube test i think these things are GOAT linears because lubing doesnt effect smoothness, but you can completely dictate how deep of sound you want depending on thickness of lube and how heavy the application, but any configuration is just as smooth as stock. so you can really choose exactly how you want the linear to be. I think they are top tier.

Side note friend you should pop order a POM or FR4 plate for the kbd67 lite sometime, and check out the kbd V3 aluminum case! Thats my current broke in Novelkeys creams are at, and it sounds and types great with a white pom plate 😋😋 kbd67 lite pcb in a grey V3 aluminum case, white pom plate, a dark blue keycaps cherry profile, and the NK creams that took like a month to break in lol

@tsprouse1322
@tsprouse1322 2 жыл бұрын
@@coleydotmp4 I mean if your happy with the sound then it doesn’t matter prolly, but I like the look and sounds of the POM and the FR4 When I was getting the aluminum case ready I tried it a few different ways with the stock plate and the Pom, then those with or without the silicone. And decided on the POM for the sound instead of the stock plate with that aluminum case 🤔 they aren’t overly expensive as keyboard stuff goes I would say it could be worth it to buy eventually or if you wanna try a different look or sound!

Hi im considering getting this board in the same translucent colorway that u have but I was just wondering if the top and bottom really are slightly different colors as I've they were on r1 and r2 for this same colorway. cheers :)
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Yeah, because they are transluscent, the color is not going to be perfect when looking at the top and bottom. The top is usually lighter due to the light silicone/switches, gasket potion being visible, and the bottom is darker. To me, that's kinda why you'd buy a translucent case. But if you want something more solid looking frosted acrylic would be closer to what you're looking for
@cl1ckrr
@cl1ckrr 2 жыл бұрын
@@coleydotmp4 wow thanks for the detailed answer. but im wondering then how does the nk65 ee work cause that one is translucent as well but im pretty sure its all the same color
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
@@cl1ckrr Ahh yeah! So I think the issue you have is with the case style. nk65's top half of the case covers the entire board as seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIC7lqGioNdgnNU That's gonna give it a smoother look than the kbd65lite since the seam between the top and bottom are covered. Although, it still isnt as visually clean as, say, the tofu65 frosted acrylic version (even though i think that only comes in white). The seams of the kbd67lite run through the center and are visible. But overall, from the specs and sound tests, I think the kbd67lite is a better board overall, in my opinion. they're close though, and the nk65 definitely is a good choice
@coleydotmp4
@coleydotmp4 2 жыл бұрын
@@cl1ckrr Hey! so I just looked into it, and the mounting style of the NK65 is what's making it look more visually appealing to you. This is because the top half of the case actually covers the entire board, as seen here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIC7lqGioNdgnNU The KBD67lite's mounting style is gaskets that are sandwiched between the top and bottom - causing the seam of the top and bottom case to be in the middle. This seam isnt visible in the nk65 - but to be honest I think the kbd67lite is a better board all around, with it's screw-in stabs, mounting style, mod-ability, etc. Though, its a close call. Both boards are top tier budget options (and even compete well against expensive options!).
