It’s 2024 now, and I’ve been loving Matt since he opened his mouth with the first note back in 2010 ❣️ I was 61 in 2010 when my husband died, and Matt helped me get through some tough times. I was working 50-60 hours a week just trying to survive, but I was SO happy for Matt and his incredible journey. He gave me strength and hope to continue on my journey alone. A door closed for me and my hubby, but a huge door opened for Matt and his new life just began at the same time my new life was beginning. He’s an incredible person, so real and down to earth. His voice is mesmerizingly beautiful, and he so deserved to win this competition ! Thank you Matt for entering the contest and giving it your all, and for blossoming out of your shell ! You went a long long way, and I pray your success and blessings continue always. The problem was that people started becoming very anti-mainstream and fighting against The X Factor, at the time. Then, Matt spoke out about the industry and talent show process, which Simon did not like and he had him blacklisted, practically, after a while.

What a journey and what a transformation! To watch him start out as a man with little self confidence who couldn't look at his audience and to see him gradually progress to where he has become a polished, confident and accomplished performer was a very enjoyable ride. That the guy had the pipes was never in question, but this story is more about how he learned to believe in his gifts and transformed himself into a performer with remarkable stage presence and confidence (no doubt with the help of a lot of good coaching) in this video is remarkable. Two hours well spent!

Well... he was _dragged_ there. His friends signed him up and packaged him off to London and hid the car until he agreed to do it. He even had to ask another contestant waiting in line what the audition was for LOL and his then-band mates had to convince him that it's the right thing for him to do. I'm so glad he trusted them :D

Never heard of him over in mainland europe either. Stumbled upon him way late and purely by chance bc I conciously avoid "talent" shows. I guess Matt was way too unruly right from the start and they knew they wouldn't be able to hold him. So, from a business point of view, why bother with an international effort on the long run, right? Matt isn't dependent on songs being written for him. He isn't dependent on music being created and played for him, either. They just had no handle on him. Total package alright :)

Well Joanie, even here in The Netherlands there is just a handfull of people having heard about him. After his decision to go completely independant the radiostations don't give him airplay, even when he is high in charts. That's how this rotten industry acts. X factor had a reunion of all winners from the last ten years, but they refused to invite him. You have seen this complete compilation, so you've seen all the praising judges-reactions. He completely thrashed the competition. They keep the silence.

I have watched this great documentary of Matt Cardle so many times I can't count! I absolutely love Matt's voice and musical talent. There's something mesmerizing & somewhat addictive to this incredibly talented artist. I am surprised that I haven't had the pleasure of knowing of Matt's existence until a couple of months ago when he showed up in the list of KZbin's available listing. I mentioned his addiction because this is something one has to continually work at. Praise the LORD, this coming October 2nd, 2018, I will be celebrating 30 years being clean and sober from alcohol and drugs! +Janice Reynolds yeah, he's great. I wish I could buy his albums in Canada. The music business sucks these days. How are good musicians supposed to gain fame and fortune like they used to? He should have lots of albums and tours by now. I don't see anything on KZbin past a few years ago. same with other people who deserve more.

***** hmm, thanks again for replying. I went to HMV, our city's only music store, and asked them to look up Matt's albums and Andrew De Leon's. They said Matt has put out four albums. Only Letters was available in Canada but no longer. Nothing from Andrew has ever been available here.
