Thank you for that tribute. My father was an Air Force Phantom pilot who didn’t make it home from Vietnam. My mother had his funeral and then gave birth to his only child 6 days later. She never got over it. I can get through about three notes of Taps before the tears start flowing. The hole in our hearts never heals.

I really enjoy these videos. Especially the narration. Naval aviation is the pinnacle of aviation and I love every aspect of it, except it’s purpose. I’ve been an aviator for 50 years. But ultimately, Freedom is not free: i.e. young men die and old men get rich. Someone please help me make this make sense.

It saddens me when I think that so many Americans don’t understand the meaning of our Memorial Day holiday. This is a day we all should be paying our respects to those who have passed away while serving our country. It's a real shame that the Air Force is retiring these planes. Nice tribute to the KC-10. Crewed it from 87 till the AF decided to go from three bases to two, and we sent our planes to NJ, and went backwards to the KC-135. Note, the reason for 59 KC-10's is one burnt up at Barksdale AFB from fuel in the CAC and a spark.

My cousin was a JarHead who gave it all in Vietnam. My bestie/roomie in the USAF, whose son came back from Afghanistan after losing a lot buddies in a firefight where they were forbidden from returning fire in self defense, took his own life last year; I consider that to be a combat death. I served during the last days of the Cold War, and thankfully never had to go somewhere where someone wanted to kill me. If we are going to continue to send our kids into harm's way, we need to allow them to defend themselves without worrying about a PCS move to Fort Leavenworth. Thanks for doing that, Commander. Three tours at Role 3's in Baghdad, Kandahar, Mazar-i-Sharīf. Had loads of fun from January 13 to July 15, 2011 when I served in the Flight Surgeon's Office and was deployed on board CVN-65 with CVW-1 in Big E's 5th Fleet AOR during OEF and New Dawn. Best parts of that cruise? Being the Lead Nurse for VFA-136 Knighthawks, and when they "adopted me" for the port call in Palma de Mallorca. The worst? The SY Quest incident with Somali pirates, which marred DDG-104's maiden deployment.

Thank you for this, I truly appreciate it. I know all of us in America can be so much better than we are but sadly on this Memorial day we are faced with political terrorism on capital hill. This shouldn't happen but exploits in our system keep being targeted. We need to remain united even in our differences and stay the course and follow the path laid out. This awesome pilot and service men shows how far we've come but in the last 10-20 years America is being destroyed from the inside out. Please support our troops, please support our government and the decisions made to better our country. We can't afford to keep taking away from what isn't there. Currently most agencies are scraping by each year with a CR over and over and it's destroying us, slowing advancements and allowing America to fall further behind. Thank you Growler Jams for every time you post one of these. I love these videos
