How is KC and the Sunshine Band NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? These guys had it going on, man. Positive, happy music, racial harmony, killer grooves and beats and talented AF musicians.
@polishherowitoldpilecki55212 жыл бұрын
Because KC and the Sunshine Band are Disco/Funk not rock roll: Disco/Funk never became popular enough or reached the same amount of international popularity as rock did for it to have its own Hal log fame. Disco died pretty early, came in 1978 and died 1979.

@Polish Hero Welecki I would say five number one songs, several others in the top 10, and over 100 million albums sold would constitute being pretty darn popular. Disco did not start out in 1978. It was more like 1974. It was not dead by 1979. It lasted a couple more years. John Lennon was a fan.

What’s being said quite justifiably is that the level of musicianship for similar types of musics is way down, because it’s being done with computers largely by non-musicians who don’t know how to construct full musical thoughts. Nothing to do with actual musicians today, a separate category that may or may not be any better than back in the day.

KC and his band are legends. Saw them open for the b-52s in 2022, and I feel so lucky to have witnessed their magic on stage. Even though I was born in 91, I felt the funk energy from the 70s and disco vibes from the 80s. KC danced the entire time. We were blown away! Good times!!!

What I miss about the old music vs what we have now: 1. Actual musicians who could play instruments; 2. The full sound of multiple instruments; 3. The joy of performing (so many singers and bands today seem "programmed" and lifeless). At the time, KC and the Sunshine Band's music was widely considered to be dreck. But it's aged very well and outlasted its critics.

That brass section shows so much joy playing their instruments, its perfect. Pretty much somes up the entire band, even down to Casey's little dance. Today's music just cant even compete with this.

in the 70s many of my generation were embarrassed to admit we loved disco, nearly 50 years later im hardly chagrined to praise disco.... casey made music ,it had everything and it was fun fun fun....unlike most (99%) of the toxic waste produced from the worthless kurt cobain forward , our music was not music to commit suicide by. thank you harry casey, your work aged beautifully

The 70's and early 80's were magical times! We were in our late teens or early 20's, not making much money, but man did we know how to party. Dressing up every Friday and Saturday, going to the clubs and dancing our butts off. You knew it was closing time when the song "Last Dance" by Donna Summer played. Great times!!
