Silverado's require a 15mm socket to remove brake calipers. Guess what doesn't come in ANY socket set?

Would be cool if this kit came with auto on/off option.
@CJBroncoF1507 жыл бұрын
You could purchase a hood switch and wire the ground wire through it to make it an auto on/off light.
@WACKEM16797 жыл бұрын
CJ Off-Road yea i was thinkin that, or a mercury switch.
@CJBroncoF1507 жыл бұрын

Yes, you can make this kit fit pretty much any vehicle.

At the price-point they charge for this kit It'd be nice if these kits came with SXL or GXL or even TXL Crosslink Poly jacketed wire that will stand up to the heat in the engine bay instead of 1960's technology Polyvinyl-chloride jacketed wire. S,G,T XL wire has been in use since the 1970's. It's not even new technology. Decent waterproof connectors that aren't directly from the 1930's would be a nice touch too... Well sealed weatherproof Deutsch DT or Delphi Sealed Metripack/Weatherpak or Molex GT sealed aren't much more than the uber-cheap 80 year old tech. Bullet connectors with sleeves that harden and fall off in a year or two doesn't seem to be a high quality product.

This kit is stilled installed today and is working just fine.

I'm sure it is. PVC wire jacket lasts around three to five years without heat exposure. When exposed to engine bay heat PVC jacketed wire gets stiff and brittle in as little as two years. Crosslink poly lasts fifteen to twenty and it doesn't rapidly degrade from engine heat. The bullet connector boots degrade in the same fashion. The Delphi, Molex, and Deutsch sealed connectors don't get brittle and leak. Hood insulation is a slight help by protecting the wiring from the engine heat but the sun baking the hood on top will still degrade the PVC wire and bullet boots.

@@TheOcculus....agreed. A total rewiring of the lights is warranted, IMO. And why not include a hood switch in the kit is beyond me. It's 2022, not 1975. Time to look at finding a small "puck" style light and compete the wiring myself.
