In KC Tool Haul 101, we highlight two scores from the Stahlwille Seasonal! If you are looking for Tool Haul #100, it isn't here yet...but a lot of hauls pat that have bee recorded and uploaded, just like this one. www.kctool.com/stahlwille-17-...
@17:47 Stahlwille Series 17 14mm Ratcheting Wrench
@18:00 The Negative
-If you had to find one thing to complain about what seems to be a stellar set of ratcheting wrenches, it would have to be the price.
--Since these are made in Taiwan, you would think the price would be lower...these are priced reasonably, but are more in line with "Made in Germany" prices
---These are really nice and I have no issues with ratcheting wrenches from Taiwan, but the price is a bit high imo
@21:30 Price Tiers
-Open Box 13 $19.20
-Open Box 14 $20.00
-Ratcheting Wrench $31.20
-Switched Ratcheting Wrench $39.20

@27:45 Push Thru Switch
-While I've always liked the concept of this style of a switch...I've never had one like that!
@28:45 What do you prefer?
-I've had the old school box end wrenches with a lever in that region, but never a push thru style
@29:25 Made to Spec
-I trust Stahlwille went with the highest quality spec here

One of the reasons for going ahead with this video was to tie-in with the current 10% Deal on Stahlwille wrenches! Don't make a dime off of that, just wanted to spread the word: www.kctool.com/wrenches/?brand=50 Also, if you missed the "Community Post" KC Tool Haul #100 is in the works, but there are a lot already recorded and ready to go...it'll hopefully be worth the wait when it materializes!

I jumped on that Stahlwille reversible ratcheting wrench deal as well. The ratcheting mechanism is Taiwan, but I think Stahlwille makes the body for it, though I’m not 100% certain.

they are all Taiwan, they look very similar from a distance but you'll see the difference when you get them. btw they're very decent.

Nice...it really was a fantastic buy. I bag on them, but mainly just due to the price. They have been really good. I believe chadroy is write that they are 100% Taiwan. They did a nice job keeping a close form factor, but you can tell with the metal and beam design. The Stahlwille wrenches are very distinct with how they feel. I'd love to see them crank out a German made iteration, but I assume they deem the necessary price point too much of an inhibitor to justify development. Gedore's are German made, but aren't a fine tooth.

Very nice sets..prices have gone up 56% since you made this video though. .. 20:45.. exactly.. I won't pay $156 for this set.. but I would consider (probably) pay $100..

The last month or two I've ordered some stuff, gotten it, and went to film a video that weekend only to find prices jumped. Just had it happen with a Mac ratchet and beat another price jump with Snap-On. These were killer prices on the Stahlwille due to the Seasonal sale. I can't justify high dollar prices for Taiwan made stuff, especially since the same factory cranks out a similar product with the same mechanism for way less. The wrench bodies are mostly true to form, but the prices kill it.

@lonestarmopars everyone's been raising prices lately, unjustifiably, I feel.. I just filled in my Hazet 603 combination wrench set with 5 wrenches from KC Tool. I paid as much for 5 wrenches (10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 16mm, 18mm) as I paid for the (from ebay) set (9mm-27mm) I was filling.. this were worth it though.. but sheesh

For tool haul 100, how about bringing in a Hazet or Gedore tool cart? Also, Gedore ratcheting wrenches are the only ones made in Germany as far as I know. I’ll like to see your comparison either way Stahlwille.

If i`m correct felo also make ratcheting wrenches in Germany

You are thinking along the right lines...The biggest issue I have found is that almost nothing survives transit. You either get a "lightly damaged" unit with a few dents and scuffs, or you suffer serious damage. I've been told there is one company that actually crates their carts. There is also something kind of unconventional I've looked at. I have (1) Gedore...it is solid, but lacks the modern fine tooth count.

I have never seen a ratcheting wrench from Felo...come to think of it I don't think I have even seen a standard wrench. It seems like that would be something they have private labeled (sort of like their pliers via NWS), but I will try to investigate it further. An ergonic grip would make it unique, lol.

The only side switch mechanism that, I used was an SK 3/8" ratchet from back in the day. The so called "Frankenstein" head. I don't recall any issues like you are concerned with though. I still have it, and rebuilt it a few years ago, so it still works like new. Low tooth count but it wasn't an issue back then really.

I thought I responded to this, but it came up empty. That is good to hear...I've yet to run into anything so far. There are a few OG SK ratchets I'd like to pick up...that is one of them.

I really like Stahlwille but i dont like the open box 17 i got them a few years ago maybe try the facom 467BF i view them as better

I have had a heck of time getting Mac's PT wrenches...that would be my alternative to the Facom...maybe this next flyer will have them. Seems like it is either around this time they come out with BOGOs or decent prices. These are pretty nice, just expensive. Stahlwille's German wrenche are tough to beat.

The perfect wrench! The only drawback is with the 14 Stahlwille wrenches, for professional size the ring end is rather thin compared to USA wrenches. Otherwise they are the perfect wrench for precision. Not something you want to put a cheater wrench on or pipe. The 14 open box design, I don't have a problem with that. It's not as offset as it looks online. Just enough for the angle.
@lonestarmopars

They are great wrenches...my biggest complaint on the OB14s is they don't offer SAE sizes, lol. The Stahlwille's pair well with a beefcake like Wright.

I agree with made in taiwan tools. The price needs to come way down. It's cheaper to manufacturer there, so I expect the costs to translate down to the tool. I'm not paying made in Germany prices for a taiwan tool.

It is sadly like that with several tools, including some Hazet air and lighting stuff...if you look really close, you might confuse it with Astro. I think fans of the brands would pay a little more than the generic equivalent, but it becomes increasingly harder to justify when you can ID OEMs and know what similar re-brands sit at for retail. The wrenches are nice and pay homage to the famed Stahlwille design, but the price is just too far north for most.

I'm with you, I think it's basically evil to charge truck prices for Taiwanese tools.
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars Ай бұрын
Yep, these aren't priced too far out of line with what I think they might sell if they were German made. Stahlwille's famed wrenches are really pretty affordable and clock in much less than offerings from Snap-On, or Mac, but the stuff sourced from Taiwan should have a savings passed on to consumers. Nice wrenches, just disproportionately high given the COO.
