As I said before, Richard loved it. He told me he almost rolled under that wurlitzer when she was singing. It's her testimony on top of the anointing on top of the voice. I am a gospel singer, and have sang this very song. Of course I have also heard Karen Clarke Sheard sing it and she is outstanding in her delivery, but I must applaud Chaka because she gave it her all and from her heart and she did it well. Now to the haters, my question to you is - can you do it any better and in most cases the answer is no you can't. Give God the praise for someone like CK who is bold enough to sing the song period, she's not ashame to praise the Lord - Thats the point!

I had the privilege of hearing Chaka sing this song live at a concert during the Taste of Chicago a couple years back and I gotta say I REALLY appreciated how she sang it! PREACH!!!!! That's it! No one has said it better. This is the song, Chaka said, that saved her. So, evidently, the omniscient Holy Spirit traveled through Richard's heart, through his hands, to and through Karen's heart and voice to that spot that needed healing in Chaka. And she, as the old folks say, came in her own way! If you don't feel 4:01, as Patti says, there's a hole in your soul. There is enough, gospel choreographed vocals (some of them flat)around that people don't know the real.

You must not know Chaka Khan AT ALL!!!!!!!! For almost all of her time in the music industry, she has battled with drug abuse numerous of times, and have had come close to near death experiences. Many times people have tried to help her, but she refused and she had to find out the hard way. I've been looking for this clip. I'll say it again (like I always do)...it's a matter of taste. Karen and Chaka are two different singers which means that Chaka's approach will be different. She started the song smooth but when it came time to build the song she did just that. You may not care for her reading of it. It's a matter of preference.
