Remember these opinions are built on alpha to final release and it’s not to be mean. I just want KDE to step into modern clean design for the end user and to not rush everything they do feature wise. Linux is already known for poor implementation of features windows and macos have had for years and we don’t need that to get worse.

I noticed the default breeze icon theme is missing an icon for Brave. I'm sure it will get fixed in time. Also a long standing issue on KDE is flatpak window decoration theming for chromium based browsers. There is a workaround, but still haven't been fixed. Gnome does not have this issue by default, even QT applications look good by default on Gnome.

I don't know if this problem is still applicable to gnome, I don't use DEs these days. But I recall there being lag resizing the gnome setting panel, specifically in the section for changing backgrounds. I don't know if that's still applicable now, but that problem was persistent for the few years I used gnome 3.something to like 42.

"KDE is not clean" my biggest gripe with this DE. Everything feels half assed.

Yeah, it feels to me like the devs don't even use it. Or they use defaults/a config they don't ever try changing/customising anything

Installed KDE Neon for two whole days and found it still too buggy to use as my daily driver. Went back to Manjaro KDE. The bugs should be worked out before Manjaro updates to plasma 6.

I think the problem with animation is due to the window decoration(aurorae) you used(macos like). Switch it to breeze.

@@Mattscreative whenever I use a window decoration other than breeze in Plasma 5.27 the window maximize and minimize animations become laggy. But when I use breeze window decoration everything is okay

The reason why everything is a widgets is to do with form factor. Desktop, laptop and mobile phone.

6.0.1 is already released. The upgrade on neon 5 was a total disaster. I uninstalled neon and went back to old reliable MX Xfce. Gnome and Mac OS default look and workflow I don't like at all because personally I absolutely hate rounded corners because my screen doesn't have round corners either. And I don't like docks. I prefer traditional, panel on the bottom with everything I use pinned on it. But that's the beauty of Linux, choice.

6.0.1 didn’t fix anything but at least they tried also, monitors used to have rounded corners but as time went on they went Sharpe

Early days, Debian wont even look at it for many months, KDE is always buggy first up. I will try it next year.

I Updated from 5.27 to 6 and the 2 Systems I Have with KDE Neon crash.... one had all may work. I liked KDE Plasma 5.27 Overview over Plasma 6 with all the options and customization you can't change the look of it back.. and Solus has to me the best Plasma theme "out of the box"... I tried installing that Panel Colorizer Widget nothing happend too.. Not giving up on KDE Plasma 6 ...

I'm on Fedora 39 KDE spin, after seeing the KDE 6 launch I was sad at first because I wouldn't be seeing it until Fedora 40 in mid April. But after seeing this video I am now glad Fedora is waiting a bit lol

No it’s just not modern and it’s bloated and it has bugs that I reported that just weren’t fixed and I love they fixed a ton of bugs but they need to do better and they need to stop rushing things because current state of KDE Is an average experience at best

That's inherent to KDE. Although it has gotten better. I think it's because KDE has to much features. The upgrade on neon 5 was a total disaster. I uninstalled it and went back to MX.
