Learn about KE type Distributor valve Functions in Indian Railways for Wagon Airbrake System
Distributor valve is the most important functional component of the air brake system and is also sometimes referred to as the heart of the air brake system.
The function of the distributor valve is to distribute compressed air received from brake pipe to auxiliary reservoir and control reservoir. In addition to this it also senses drop and rise in brake pipe pressure for brake application and release respectively.
It is connected to brake pipe through branch pipe. Various other components connected to the distributor valve are auxiliary reservoir, brake cylinders and control reservoir.
The distributor valve is removed for overhaul, maintenance & replace without disturbing the pipe connections.
The complete working of braking system depends upon the working of distributor valve.
Two designs of distributor valves are in use on wagons.
These are:
1) EK Type distributor valve (KE type Distributor valve),Knorr-Bremse distributor valve.
2) C3W Type distributor valve.

Coaching application time is 3 - 5 sec.s & wagon application time is 18 - 30 sec.s, these variations depends upon gross weight , type of bogies & its suspension system, under gear arrangements, single pipe & twin pipe. Applying brakes suddenly (3-5 sec.s) when the wagon is carrying a heavy load can cause the wagons to overturn (tripling) ,that's why wagon application time is 18 - 30 sec.s given. But in coaching, there is no problem because of bogie suspension , Twin pipe , length wise less tonnage & Distance between the bogies is more length, there is no possibility to tripling. Next, release time coaching is 15 -20 sec.s, wagon is 45 - 60 sec.s These time's are different due to single pipe & Twin pipe, Once application takes place in a single pipe it takes one minute to refill the AR, If applied without filling AR, the brakes will not work. That's why wagon release time is 45 -60 sec.s In twin pipe AR filling time is 15 -20 sec.s & continuous feeding, that's why coaching release time is 15 -20 sec.s. Coaching & wagon distributor valve's are different due to common pipe brackets are different. There are so many more differences, it doesn't make sense to say them all in a single message, the mind gets damaged 🤝

Hello, dear friend, you have trouble, but you have a few mistakes. First, the brake cylinder air is separate from the cv air, so the brake cylinder air is supplied directly from the tank through the valve relay, but in your video, it is cv air that enters the cylinder. Second, you did not create a cv air branch that closes the tank supply valve at all.
