Wow, I just had this moment! This song coincides with who I was, and am still to an extent.. But I've also learned to deal and keep going rather than staying put in isolation, anxiety, and sadness. When this song came out, I thought I wasn't going to live for much longer and now all these years later, I am starting to finally live and further myself.

KEATON HENSON LYRICS "Alright" I know the West was won this way But God forgive the heartless way we let It all burn down I know, I know you're off on tour Godspeed my love I'll not be bored with all The mess here, now I’ll allow My heart to get over you now Let yours take a generous bow I’ll be fine You'll be alright Come and see me in the morning I'll be in the sunrise Hoping that it's rays don't Burn a hole in my eyes You know me, I worry Could always use some pity Scared to do a session If it's in the city You and I are monsters We'll not find another Cannot be together Lest we eat each other Don't make me leave It's been about a month And I am eating badly Still don't cry But I keep meaning to I hear the crowds adore you so But I'm still here, I hope you know Don't talk to them about me Obviously My wounds are open to see But don't take them seriously I'll be fine And you're more than alright Come and meet me in the trenches I'll be taking cover You can load the guns, and I'll hide behind the others Always been a coward You can ask my friends I hide inside for hours Always had intense eyes I think I am sick but never can be certain Still call up my mother Hiding behind curtains Don't make me go Don't make me go outside God knows what out there lies I'm hoping I don't die After you

I can't watch the video one more time without leaving a comment. The first time I've watched it, I wasn't fine, I was tired, alone, dealing with my anxiety. I came across this song, and without knowing why, before it even started, I began to cry, very very hard. While I was watching, I wasn't controlling myself anymore and my tears were falling, I was literally sobbing. This man. I felt his pain, his sadness, in his words, in his eyes. My heart broke. I felt powerless.

"'Alright' is a song of false hope and half-hearted placation," Henson tells NPR Music in an email. "I suppose it's very 'English' in that way. The video is a visual metaphor for my feelings in the spotlight. Perhaps more specifically, it is a representation of how I feel on stage. Hopefully, it serves as a small apologetic explanation for my lack of appearing publicly."

Man, there's something about this video that makes me so uncomfortable (in a good way), and I can't quite put my finger on it. Perhaps it's the constantly changing of camera angles, or the way he's moving, or the blood, or the ominous sirens at the end, I don't know. But the song, it's amazing as ever - at this point, I feel like Keaton could release an album of just yodelling and I would still buy it. I have such a deep-rooted admiration for the guy, and I am so lucky to be seeing him live soon. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

I understand what you mean when you say that it makes you feel "uncomfortable (in a good way)." I feel the same way, though I am not one for music videos. I feel pride in my uncomfortable-ness in the video though, for it's a work of art. This is the perfect type of art to make you feel things. He's a genius. Have fun seeing him if you already haven't. I suffer from an anxiety disorder too, and am experiencing a growing inability to muster the will to be anything beyond a blurred and unmoving remnant of my former self. You bring some measure of light to that, Keaton. I wish that whatever will and courage and vitality I still possessed was a detachable thing, something that could be gifted to you to fuel your own struggle, and enable you to inflict even more beauty and value upon this callous and indifferent creation. So much better for it to be used by you, for the sake and peace of the rest of us.

This video looks like the one for 'Party Song', a piece of debut album 'Dear...'. Even lyric perfectly matches video. Keaton is standing alone in party decorated room: 'I'm sorry, can't make your party, I'll be busy burning... So this is where you wanted to be, and it's a goddamn shame that you're not here with me'. Blood spots may relate to lyrics 'I'd kill your lover while your back was turned' or 'The thought of your hands on his chest makes my stomach itch'. I can't help mentioning that everything what Keaton has ever done is simply beautiful. So this video is.

Oh, and I am so oddly feeling that numbness peeling away from me after so long as I've forgotten how feeling FELT. It's okay with me that KZbin stalks algorithms or whatever if it suggested this music. How's it I have been unaware of him til NOW? That's fine. I am awake and alive and I finally feel something again. It's brutal and beautiful and haunting hideously human. Hi, James crying on a Friday night in the past. If I had a time machine and some coffee, I'd drop by and.... fucking amazing artist.

+Fran Y. H. It's funny, I was looking at the date on your post...I was actually awake and I was crying too the second last night of 2016, Fran, but I was not lucky enough to have such a empathy filled soundtrack. I feel like I won something having discovered Keaton. It's a little like a settlement with the class action filing against the universe for being born feeling and observing the world a great deal more than the other people around me seemed to. Reading the replies and comments on the songs, I can see who else falls into the same category, who thinks that it's pretty (good break up mix material, won't recall it 3 years later), and the jerks who just like starting shit. But whatever. I treasure books and records that ring true at 4:a.m no matter what mood I find myself in. This is a certainty of the list.

I listen to this song and I am immediately reminded of my freshman semester at university. I can't describe how bizarrely immersed I am back in that time listening to this song. The new beginning in my life that was supposed to be fun and lively yet was oddly overcast by a sad and moody disposition. I loved the new beginning I had, I needed it but I was still carrying over the emotions I had from high school. Not really fitting in, with one or two friends I rarely saw, still figuring things out. It wasn't this majestic new beginning or fun first semester, but it felt like I was a more, coming to terms to how my past had treated me and that I couldn't make any leaps and bounds towards that beautiful new beginning until I accepted that what made my high school experience so miserable was ... me, because I chose to listen to my self-doubt. I eventually had to leave that school, and the "new beginning" I so desired would happen. Yet, I listen to this song and I remember the grey cloudy light peering in through my windows, the silent bus ride to class, the eerily peaceful walk to art history in the museum, the smell of coffee in the union, the empty studio and the satisfying scrapping of knives against wood. It's weird, it's not a happy nostalgia but one that reminds me of a time so crucial to me understanding that there was so much beyond the person I was in years prior. It's the same feeling you get when you listen to this song or when you look out over a leafless forest with it just beginning to gently snow. There is something beautifully sad about remembering it.
