@DriverSurpriseMe18 жыл бұрын
+david garcia Definitely! The etymology of the word nostalgia comes from the Ancient Greek words 'nostos' and 'algos', the former meaning a return and the latter a painful yearning. The impossibility of a return is made so much more painful through the realisation that the the memory longed for has been romanticized in our minds into a perfect ideal that never even existed! The bleak is always the most beautiful.

I think "Small Hands" is about a song about not being able to handle so much of our emotions at the same time. We usually think people with "bigger" hands are capable of holding so much more when everyone have small hands. Its only when we think that enough is never enough so we lose things we never meant to lose. We lose grasp of things that were there and even overlooking things. Only when you take that last thing in your hand and it starts to overwhelm and that one thing, no matter how small will overfill your small hands causing everything to fall out. You collapse and there's really onlt ever one thing to do; to close your eyes and to offer what you dont have in hopes of starting over once again. We all have small hands but thats not always a bad thing, in fact it reminds us our vulnerability inside each one of us

Keatons music gives me a certain energy thats hard to put my finger on, it's not a melancholy feeling, nor is it inspiration. It sends tingles across my head and down my back, I suddenly have something in my eyes and a terrifying sense of nostalgia! His art, his suffering, put into lines that can bring out something inside of me that can move moutains and cause chaos. I suppose in its own way his poetry, his pain, makes me... happy, I feel a sense of moral and peace. Maybe its because I know I am not alone, and so many others. Physically, maybe even emotionally I am, we are, but never mentally.

All the comments talk about how much people relate to the rabbit and how it perfectly expresses how it feels to be alone, but honestly, I relate so much more to the frog and I feel its just as fitting of a representation of the feeling. The rabbit says to me: horror, terror, grief. The rabbit is alone and its distraught but it's also full of raw panic because it just woke up to watch it's den mate get violently attacked and dragged away and there's no guarantee the fox won't come back (which is why I think we later see that the den is empty, because it fled. Away from the grief, the fear, the sorrow). The frog however, has already escaped the clutches of the snake, its alone in that pond and it just looks so frozen, the world is turning around it but the frog is deathly still, like there's nothing left to live for - like its completely alone. When I see the frog I feel this crushing depression that I'm so familiar with myself, like you have no one and nothing to reach to. When the frog disappears, I feel this underlying symbolism of someone who's given up. Who's drown.
