These tunes are available on Kebu's "To Jupiter and Back" album:
ZYXDance.lnk.to...
The tunes and the video were recorded live at Kulttuuritalo Dux, Kristiinankaupunki, 18th of May 2012. BIG thank yous to Tomas Karlsson and KRS Jazz for arranging this concert and to the audio engineer students at Axxell, Lappfjärds folkhögskola under supervision by Kalle Teir and Staffan Svarvar for setting up and handling all the audio and light at the show! Just amazing work. And many thanks to Kim Påfs and Heidi for the great camera work!
The tunes were performed using only analog synthesizers, either played live or sequenced. Equipment used: Roland TR-808, Juno 60, Alpha Juno 1; Korg Micro-preset M500, Polysix, Poly-61, PE-2000; Moog Source; Jomox Air Base 99; Oberheim Matrix 6R; MAM MB33 II; Yamaha RM1x (only for MIDI sequencing); Behringer DDX3216; Lexicon MPX500, as well as a midi patchbay, CV/gate converters, and additional preamps for my mixer.

wow. ive been playing synth and keyboards for about 17 years now i started when i was around 4 years old. i recently sort of gave up i haven't touched my synths or keyboards for a good year or two now... youve inspired me to set them up and start playing again. 80's synth/new wave is why i started playing keyboards. I really really enjoy your version of Crockettes theme by Jan Hammer. Well done sir! Im amazed by your talent. just beautiful.

The filter on the Juno is set to respond to aftertouch, so I programmed the RM1x to increase the aftertouch gradually throughout the break. Afterwards, midway through the part with drums, the RM1x also takes over playing the Juno, so I can switch to playing the PE 2000.

Kebu does what JMJ did, today, with songs he composed himself. JMJ does collabs with artists who don't embrace what JMJ fans are looking for. I think he's missing a trick there, understanding of course that all great artists experience trouble coming back to the greatness of their youth.

For my use (only as MIDI sequencer), the RS7000 has twice the memory of the RM1x, a smartdrive instead of 3.5" disk drive, and two separate MIDI outs. On the downside, the RS7000 does not retain its memory on powering down, and program messages are not sent when the song is switched.

Hi Kebu, how you are well! I thought you might find this interesting, about 2 hours ago a song came up on my Spotify. It's title is "Formula Of Fear by Hybrid". The piano intro, seemed extremely familiar, and I couldn't place where I had heard a Synth version of it, with a big dance beat. It was driving me nuts, that I could hear it in my head. I spent too long looking for it in random youtube mix of edm stuff.... I even began considering recording myself playing what I could hear in my head, and posting it on youtube to hopefully have someone identify what I was trying to play. I began to visualise in my head someone playing it, I imagined I had seen someone's hands moving to this song I could hear in my head... I checked a few videos from some of my favourite keyboard players, yourself, SYQ Dance, Ronald Jenkees, Yamaha Demo videos of the Motif/Montage, a few others.. Then I became more and more convinced it was yourself playing what I could hear in my head. And in 21st place of your video list it "The Lunar Effect"...! I had skipped it when first looking, because the intro to Lunar Effect is totally different to what I had been searching for! I had to share this little story with you, because my brain HAD to find the song I had in my head.....

This story is fun to read. Glad you found the song you were looking for. I checked the song by Hybrid and it definitely sounds a little similar. I have a crazy story kind of like this myself. A few years ago I was thinking of a song. I couldn't remember the text, title or artist. Neither could I remembered the melody. Well... How did I find the song I was looking for you might think now. The answer is pretty simple. I knew exactly where the vinyl was in my fathers collection of around 1000 singles. I went to the vinyl storage boxes and pulled it right out. Don't know how this happened, but when I held it in my hand I knew exactly that this was the song I was looking for.

Great video, have to ask though, how do you get inside that rig? Didn't see an opening anywhere. Do you block yourself inside during setup, crawl underneath, or move a few synths/stands to make an opening? Normally when I do a full rig setup with all my synths I do either a "L" or "U" shape; crawling under, or moving, a loaded double/triple stand just seems too dangerous for the equipment for my taste...
@kebu
@kebu 10 жыл бұрын
The lights were off during the beginning of the show, so I crawled under then. The Jasper stand (the largest one in the back) is very sturdy and reliable, and I kept my cables so that there was a free passageway under it. :)
@looneyburgmusic
@looneyburgmusic 10 жыл бұрын
Kebu I would never have the nerve to crawl under, though your setup does look fantastic. If you ever play America be sure to do some shows in New England, would love to see you live ;-)
