I just visited kedarnath few months back almost after a decade, I was stunned to see that development now. The story of the stone that saved temple is just amazing. Just imagine a flood that killed thousands of people,water crushed every building that came on its way down but didn't do any harm to a thousand year old temple.

@@zuzanareacts The trek is a total of 27 Km uphill all the way. While it is a moderate to difficult trek the surrounding beautiful mountains, rivulets, waterfalls are captivating and help to keep your spirits high. There are other easier means to get to the top viz. Helicopter and mule rides as well.

THE orgin story of kedarnath : i am giving this in very short , basically there were pandavas and kuravas , pandavas ( 5 brothers ) , kauravas (100 brothers ) pandavas and kaurvas fight in a battle place name is kurushetra and the pandavas wins because lord krishna was on there side because they follwed dharma (right path or humanity ) after the war lord krishna suggest pandavas to go to himalayas and find lord Shiva and ask for forgivness reason : ( damage and death caused due to the battle and killing the own family ) , so they start to explore and try to find lord shiva but LORD SHIVA dont want to see them and he took a form of very big cow and hw got into a cow herd so they dont find him but one of the pandavas bhima figurs out the cow is lord shiva and try to stop him from going anyware but lord shiva start to submerge in land but bhima trys to hold the hump of the cow and ask for forgivness he getts pleased and the hump remained on the top and turned into a stone this is lord kedarnath story and the shivlinga in kedarnath is ina shape of cow hump yep

i live in Rudraprayag, Kedarnath is about 90 km far from my home. I experience so much connection with god and yet it makes you feel that you are so tiny in the whole universe. It is my hometown and sometimes I think people make this holy site a tourist and couple destination which makes me feel sad.

i live right in front of Himalayas. I live in Himachal. Actually according to the Ancient Vedic scriptures, Indian gods did not live somewhere up in the sky, but they all lived in Himalayas. and Before the beginning of Kalyug, All the deities went into a different dimension that exists in the Himalayas (like through a wormhole ), Legends say that Human Civilization was begin to flourish from the Himalayas bcz of the easy to survive geography for Humans, and This is all about the Ice Age time, when planet was covered with snow. As the time passed by, people started moving downwards, to different places and regions.

Sister If you want to travel this temple you have to come in summer for specific period of 2-3 months(june july August). This is because just like other high Himalayan region the temperature here reach upto -40°c and there's no root to travel there easily because of heavy snow. Btw it's an experience of its own. No matter how much you hear it you still will truly know when you will feel it.

I also went on trekking 34 kms to Madhmaheshwar temple and 10 kms trekking to Tungnath temple 3690 meter altitude. Kedarnath night temperature was sub-zero. I was able to trek total 72 kms and 10 kms on horse back. The majestic densely forested Himalyan mountain range with snow covered peaks , Mighty river Ganga. It was great to be in nature in the entire 34 kms Madhmaheshwar trekking. Far Less crowded. Just 100 people trek in a day. Kedarnath is way too commercial with helicopter sorties, horses and mad rush of pilgrims.

It's not mythology, our civilization is older than written history. Our epic speak of events happening 14000 yrs before Christ and more. There r no prophets in our Culture, no concept of Judgement day or Eternal Heaven and eternal Hell fire. No Devil or no one is born Sinner. Since Divinity is in each one of us humans, animals, trees, planets, Sun, moons. We consider everything in this Cosmos as alive and has divine consciousness.

In 2017, there was a cloud burst which flooded a glacier lake just behind the temple. Not a single structure except the temple was left. After the destruction it was seen that a huge boulder had stopped behind the temple which diverted the flow of the flood and saved the temple. The boulder was big enough to destroy the temple but it stopped right behind the temple.

i feel this video didnt explain a lot about that place, i want to share an experience about my kedarnath visit last year, i started at 2 pm the trek it was almost 22 kms, after walking many hours i was tired and gave up at around 1 am, my legs stopped working and lifeless sat down and prayed for help and forgiveness. some time later at 2am something a black dog came near me and started leading the way, it kept disappearing after a few minutes and then coming back from nowhere ,i gave him something to eat but he didnt eat, the dog kept walking i kept following ,he kept showing up out of nowhere every few minutes. at 3 or 4 am i finally reached the temple surrounded by huge white mountains in the dark night .i didnt notice when the dog went away. when i came back home few days later i realised that the dog was sent by lord shiva himself to guide me after i asked forgiveness. (i found out acc to scriptures that lord Shivas form/bhairav avatar is known for his love of animals especially dogs)

Here comes some negative aspect of technology and development! Why was Kedarnath built in such a difficult terrain? So, that only those who were dedicated immensely and honest in their devotion could reach there, otherwise building a temple at that altitude makes no sense if you wanted tonnes of Pilgirms! Now, the development of roads and other things such a Helicopters are available, this all made it so Easy and the game of Money! Now, all kinds of people are going there, doing all kinds of things, as if it's a tourist destination! The drugs, prostitution, all kinds of things going on are polluting the Spiritual Significance of Kedarnath 😢! I think some sacred places should be left secluded 🙏!

My village is close to this place. And Himalayas are close to my heart. I do feel something there but it doesn't "blow me out" like sadhguru said. But these days its so crowded because of the tourists from other regions , you feel like youee in Delhi or some other crowded city. @@zuzanareacts There is a speculation. He had stayed in India from 14 to 29 years of age. During this period, he gathered teachings from Tibet and many parts of India. After this he returned to Jerusalem, where he fell prey to a conspiracy. After being crucified, he had survived and, with the help of his closest disciples, had escaped to Kashmir, where he lived till his natural death at a very old age. Surprised? Hard to believe, right? All these remained a secret, until in the 19th century (19th or 18th, I forgot the exact years) when a Russian spy and journalist Nicolai Notovitch visited the monasteries in Ladakh and Tibet, where he discovered numerous documents and written evidences of Christ's stay in Kashmir. He recorded those evidences in his journal, which was published as The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ. Later, many other explorers went there to explore, and some of them actually found them. One of them was Swami Abhedananda. However, those ancient documents went mysteriously missing much later. It seems now that those papers and evidences have totally disappeared, vanished. It seems as if they never existed. Complete details are in the book Jesus Lived in India, by Holger Kersten. Get it at Kindle or buy it. You can also read the original book by Nicolai Notovitch The unknown life of Jesus Christ.

I deleted my previous comment fearing it might somehow hurt the Shaivas (i.e. the sect holding Shiva as the supreme). But perhaps it'll suffice to say that Hindu pilgrimage sites are deity and sect specific and we should refrain from describing the beliefs of one sect as something that Hindus of other sects also follow. 🙏
@zuzanareacts
@zuzanareacts Жыл бұрын
fair enough - just for the context - the word sect in the West has a very negative connotation so just so you are aware. I think you mean different branches. Sect's true meaning is that it's crazy, evil and maybe satanic in nature.
@garitube09
@garitube09 Жыл бұрын
@@zuzanareacts Actually the word sect is a poor translation of the Sanskrit word "sampradaya". They are not braches of a core belief system either but rather spiritual practices developed around different prime deities or spiritual philosophies. Other deities are usually subservient to the supreme one and every sampradaya has set of scriptures to back up their claims. These representative scriptures often contradict each other and barring some shared spiritual concepts the lifestyle and beliefs of their followers also differ from other sampradayas. That's why it's important not to claim any deity, ritual or text (since its importance and interpretation may vary) as the sole representative for the conglomerate of Hinduism.
