Why are people surprised that cocaine causes heart attacks? From the National Library of Medicine: "Cocaine users have a higher risk of developing myocardial infarction immediately after using cocaine and a higher risk of cardiovascular complications up to 12 h after presentation." He was calm, conscious, talking, and immediately in the care of medical staff for monitoring after he stopped fighting (while amped up on coke - which is what teachers do in California, I guess). The, hours later, he suffered a heart attack from habitual drug abuse and self-induced exertion (he started running after hitting cars and trying to steal another). LAPD spend more time trying to have him sit and just have a conversation with him than in an altercation with him. But again, he was perfectly fine and chatting with people immediately after (of for hours) before he died from the damage resulting from his drug use.

I'm half & half on this one. Yes, Anderson was acting like a wild animal and constantly not complying. I get that. The first responding officer was very polite and patient. Which Anderson was obviously taking advantage of. However once the action started, there were at least 4 officers there. They could've manhandled him enough to get cuffed without tazing him multiple times. Now, was his death intentional? Absolutely not. Were they overzealous? I believe so. Now in the cops' defense, tazers are a NON-LETHAL tool to make people submit. They didn't think their tazing would have any effect like that. However, they really didn't need to taze him as many times as they did either (once or twice would've been sufficient to grapple him to submission). There were enough cops there to get the job done in the traditional hands only way. I am a very big proponent of police. They have a very tough job- safety-wise, emotionally from dealing with the scum of the earth so often, mentally from making split second decisions that are life and death and having to remember facts precisely. People don't realize how hard being a cop is. When people have dealt with what they deal with on a regular, then they might have a high ground to stand on.

Tazer can cause arrhythmia and cardiac arrest even hours after, this is the reason why you get to the hospital right after. This is the same procedure for our guys working on electric grids if they get shocked, and that's a whole 24h under monitoring. But TBH, my opinion is that the cocaïne most likely did the job, and even if the taser did not help, cocaïne alone would have finished the job anyway. I didn't see the comment, they apparently deleted it, so i'm going to take a wild guess at what this is about. If you do enough cocaine (especially crack since it's so much more potent), it can cause you to suffer from psychosis (hallucinations and delusions), paranoia, and delirium. It's more common than you'd think, it's just that most people you've probably been around doing some recreational bumps don't do enough of it for this to happen. Would be interested to see the levels in his blood. His behavior was definitely exhibiting all three of these things. Turns out he is high on dope and cocaine while he was operating his car. 4 hrs later he dies in a hospital as a result of his poor life choices in his pursuit of cocaine. I watched the entire video. I think I got it right. And the narrative is “police are killing us”, “they should not respond to traffic accidents”. They still at that point didnt deploy the taser and were completely civil with him. Finally while trying to arrest him he does everything he can for them not to put the cuffs and warn him 13 times they will use the taser, they finally had to deploy the taser. Every time they stopped using it he would fight and resist again. This is %100 Keenans fault. The same would have happened regardless of his skin color.
