That is totally absurd. The police don't need to change, you do. Stop being so combative, stop being so defiant. When you are pulled over, don't start an argument you cannot win. Take the fight to court if you feel you have been wronged. Fighting the police in the street is a losing battle. The fact that you haven't figured that out yet says a lot about your lack of maturity and growth. Only you are to blame, not the police. I have never had a problem with any encounter I have had with the police. I am compliant and respectful. Something you are not....

Why are people surprised that cocaine causes heart attacks? From the National Library of Medicine: "Cocaine users have a higher risk of developing myocardial infarction immediately after using cocaine and a higher risk of cardiovascular complications up to 12 h after presentation." He was calm, conscious, talking, and immediately in the care of medical staff for monitoring after he stopped fighting (while amped up on coke - which is what teachers do in California, I guess). The, hours later, he suffered a heart attack from habitual drug abuse and self-induced exertion (he started running after hitting cars and trying to steal another). LAPD spend more time trying to have him sit and just have a conversation with him than in an altercation with him. But again, he was perfectly fine and chatting with people immediately after (of for hours) before he died from the damage resulting from his drug use.

I'm half & half on this one. Yes, Anderson was acting like a wild animal and constantly not complying. I get that. The first responding officer was very polite and patient. Which Anderson was obviously taking advantage of. However once the action started, there were at least 4 officers there. They could've manhandled him enough to get cuffed without tazing him multiple times. Now, was his death intentional? Absolutely not. Were they overzealous? I believe so. Now in the cops' defense, tazers are a NON-LETHAL tool to make people submit. They didn't think their tazing would have any effect like that. However, they really didn't need to taze him as many times as they did either (once or twice would've been sufficient to grapple him to submission). There were enough cops there to get the job done in the traditional hands only way. I am a very big proponent of police. They have a very tough job- safety-wise, emotionally from dealing with the scum of the earth so often, mentally from making split second decisions that are life and death and having to remember facts precisely. People don't realize how hard being a cop is. When people have dealt with what they deal with on a regular, then they might have a high ground to stand on.

Tazer can cause arrhythmia and cardiac arrest even hours after, this is the reason why you get to the hospital right after. This is the same procedure for our guys working on electric grids if they get shocked, and that's a whole 24h under monitoring. But TBH, my opinion is that the cocaïne most likely did the job, and even if the taser did not help, cocaïne alone would have finished the job anyway. Would the taser not have been deployed, they would have said that the force used to secure him caused it.

I didn't see the comment, they apparently deleted it, so i'm going to take a wild guess at what this is about. If you do enough cocaine (especially crack since it's so much more potent), it can cause you to suffer from psychosis (hallucinations and delusions), paranoia, and delirium. It's more common than you'd think, it's just that most people you've probably been around doing some recreational bumps don't do enough of it for this to happen. Would be interested to see the levels in his blood. His behavior was definitely exhibiting all three of these things. Possibly not hallucinations, but seemed pretty delusional, paranoid, and confused if you watch the full body cam footage.

Let me see if I follow this… Mr Keenan causes a traffic accident, he tries to get in another car, flees the scene, officers treat him with compassion and the utmost respect, he flees the officer, endangers other people, police restrain him, he is combative, resistant, and talking crazy out of his contaminate-thinking mind, they taze him, get him in custody, 60-seconds later he gets seen by medical personnel, he is fine. Turns out he is high on dope and cocaine while he was operating his car. 4 hrs later he dies in a hospital as a result of his poor life choices in his pursuit of cocaine. I watched the entire video. I think I got it right. And the narrative is “police are killing us”, “they should not respond to traffic accidents”. On the contrary, mr Keenan’s poor life choices let his family, 6 year old son, and students down. So sorry for Mr Keenan that his poor actions resulted in his death. Kudos to the officers for protecting innocent citizens from further harm by Mr Keenan.

I like how they leave out he had caused a hit and run and then attempted to steal another car as the 1st officer arrived. Also in the original video, which is not exceedingly difficult to find all of a sudden, he was sitting up and talking with police and paramedics. Granted he was hallucinating, something cocaine and hemp don't do. However, bath salts and spice are known to cause this behavior. 4 and half hours later he passed away while in the care of doctors..... not police.

So the guy was possibly impaired, attempted to run from the scene of the crash. Then he disobeyed lawful police orders that would be given to anyone of any color in this situation. Finally after he realizes a cop on a motorcycle is not going to give up he finally stops. That was all before he actively fought cops and resisted arrested. They still at that point didnt deploy the taser and were completely civil with him. Finally while trying to arrest him he does everything he can for them not to put the cuffs and warn him 13 times they will use the taser, they finally had to deploy the taser. Every time they stopped using it he would fight and resist again. This is %100 Keenans fault. The same would have happened regardless of his skin color. Id like to also point out how he was crying like a baby the whole time. If your going to act like a hardened criminal at least actually be hard. Dont cry like a baby.

The officer gave him like 50 chances telling him he was going to tase him before he did it… They shouldn’t have to do that one or two warnings and that’s it. Do what you’re supposed to do stop doing cocaine and maybe you will survive an incident that would’ve just probably been a ticket or money paid to the victims that you hit with your car because you were high as a kite.

How is the police going to arrest someone coked out and possible smoked lace weed? Keep him running around in the streets putting other civilians in danger? Where is his family when he really needed help getting off the drugs and having him check himself into a psychiatric hospital?

This dude with drugs in his system was said over 10 times to roll over or he will be tased, and only then the taser was used and question is how many times it really worked and how many times it was his clothes tased, and idiots still blame cops for killing this dude, who definitely was using drugs before? And he was arrested for a justifiable reason, cause he commited multiple crimes

Let these people get the work done then, all these lames making these statements. OK then do not call the police nor request any assistance. Discontinue the police and operate your own city.

Stop doing drugs and resisting police officers then blaming them when the person is so high they can't follow instructions and are paranoid.

I mean yes a taser can stop your heart although its rare only 440 reports of it happening ever. If I could bet it's probably the drugs he had in his system that sent him in to cardiac arrest. Besides in the reports of taser induced heart failure it's instantaneous not 4 hours later

one of the demands is that police don't respond to traffic accidents? Uh...I may be wrong but I think LAPD already doesn't respond to traffic accidents unless someone is injured. In this case, Keenan was running around in traffic and tried to carjack another car.

Hey, here's a solution to prevent terrible events: comply with reasonable requests and there will be no trouble. How anyone could conclude race played a factor is absolutely deranged and ignorant.
