I finally gave this a try and it took me six tries to get something that I liked, and came back to your video and realized all the things I did wrong, and all the things I realized I did right. That soft light touch is really key to getting this technique to work well. Thank you so very much again for being such an awesome teacher!
@KeenanKreations10 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad I was able to help :-) This is probably my favorite technique. When I teach my customers at class, I try to remind them to go in a "soft, circular motion" and that it's better to have too little ink instead of too much. I probably sound like a broken record! I'd love to see your cards if you post them online too :-)

Thanks Susan :-) I do trim my stamps really close! I teach a lot of classes and some of my customers are what I call "heavy handed" stampers and they would get the line around the image from the excess rubber. I also think the "naked" foam clings to the clear blocks best without the stickers. One of my downline is a master with the brayer but I'm more comfortable with sponges for now :-)

Great Video- what scissors do,you recommend for cutting ribbon?
@KeenanKreations9 жыл бұрын
+shellyqt I use the Craft Scissors (from Stampin' Up!) for most of my ribbons but you could also use the Paper Snips for the thinner taffeta ribbons. Whatever scissors you use for ribbon, only use them for ribbon as paper cutting will dull them more quickly. I also have a scissor sharpener (from JoAnne's for about $7) that I use to keep them nice and sharp :-)

Just FYI, Post-It now makes their "notes" in an additional new format - they're 100% sticky on the back instead of just the line at the top. I love them for masking! And there's no problem with removing them.
@KeenanKreations7 жыл бұрын
Get out of here! Really? I have to get those :-)
@darlawelch96767 жыл бұрын
They're by 3-M Post-It and are just called "full adhesive". They're a bit darker yellow (so easy to spot on the shelf), and the corners are rounded. I love them! They come off as easily as regular Post-It's (I just use the tip of my paper piercer to lift the edge), but you don't have to worry about them sliding when you're sponging.

Hi, I know this card was made ages ago, but I'm new to stamping. I'm just wondering why you used stazon for the sentiment. Hopefully someone can tell me. Thanks, Sue
@KeenanKreations9 жыл бұрын
+silva 167 Hi Silva! I used Black Stazon because that was my ink of choice back then for a nice, deep black. Stampin' Up! now has a new archival Black ink pad that is AWESOME and I use that most of the time now :-) Hope that helps. Thank you so much for stopping by!
@sues16079 жыл бұрын
+Keenan Kreations Thank you so much for that, I had just ordered the Archival black ink that you mentioned after seeing a video on black inks. I also ordered the StazOn black because I read that it can be stamped on to glossy paper. Would you recommend distress ink pads for the sponging technique? I have bought a variety of the distress inks and the gina k ink pads so is it better to use one or the other? Sorry to be a pain, but I have one more question, I have small sponge daubers which don't work for me (the sponge keeps coming off the plastic bit) I also have a round mini blender from tim holtz. The tim holtz works a bit better, but would the sponges you use be better than the others? My blending doesn't look as smooth as yours. Thank you so much, your cards are beutiful, and once I get a bit better and more knowledgeable I will be trying them all.😊
@KeenanKreations9 жыл бұрын
+silva 167 I only use Stampin' Up! inks so I can't really offer an opinion on the distress inks. I like the Sponge Daubers (I've never had the sponge come off - are you able to glue it back on?) for smaller areas of sponging but sponges for larger areas. The thing with sponging is to keep sponging. At my classes, when someone is not happy with their sponging, I'm usually able to add more sponging and get it where the customer likes it. They usually stop sponging too soon. The other thing is to go in a soft circular motion. Sponging is my favorite technique :-)
