About this video:
As a frustrated gardener, I was in search of something that would help keep deer away from my plants. The deer constantly went after plants in my garden such as Hosta, Daylily, Coneflower, and Evergreens such as my Hinoki, Holly, Spruce, and Cypress. I was growing tired of the constant spraying of repellants, and wanted a more hands off solution. In my research, I came across this Wireless Deer Fence/Deer Training System. What is it and how does it work? Check out this video to see how they're working for me.
** NOTE: I am not affiliated with the Wireless Deer Fence company. **
I am not sure which other animals this product would be effective with as these are marketed for deer. I purchased these with my own money, and created this video to share my experience using this product in my garden. If you have specific questions, please reach out to them directly:

@@HookedandRooted I just don’t want to make this fight any more. I am very pleased with the plants I am discovering that they don’t eat. It’s limiting, for sure, but the un limiting factor of surviving, intact, is well worth the narrower field of choice. The painful part is digging out perfectly healthy and sometimes beautiful plants, and spending a significant amount of money on new ones. Not spraying, netting or even thinking about them being destroyed in a big plus on the positive side. Money saved from spray alone will more than compensate for part of the change over. Love everything you’ve done in your own garden. It really is a thing of beauty now.

Thank you for this video! Mine just came in the mail this past Saturday. I placed them around my gardens. No deer activity yet. That's do, in part because the manufacturer suggests NOT to remove existing barriers right away. I've been using homemade deer repellent for years! I also have a few jingle bells randomly strung on some fishing wire. They hate unnatural sounds! The reason I bought the spikes is every blue moon I forget to reapply then, MUNCH! They get my stuff! They are so persistent! I am excited to hear if they work for anyone else!!!

I've used these for years and they are 100% effective for deer. I place them in late winter to early spring in locations where deer are likely to approach their favorite plants, in my case apple trees, vegetable garden, day lilies, hosta, blueberries and strawberries. The scent of the lure is so strong that the deer will go to the lure before any of your plants. I take them down around late June and remove the batteries to prevent corrosion. 6 spikes protect approximately 1 acre. I now have a rabbit problem and may try slanting the spike to lower the height of the zapper and replace the lure with a piece of celery. Wish me luck.

Been waiting for this review. The deer tried just about everything this spring in drought, looking for something to eat, spray or not. Mountain mint was a first for the deer. However this is Perfect timing with all the rain been difficult to keep up spraying and having a few trees nibbled because of course the spray washed off that was applied. Ordered two sets well worth it after all I have spent on deer detergents over the years.

They are just as much maintenance as spraying down your ornamentals- the lure does not last longer than about two or three days in the Texas heat. Bummer because they claim it would last a month. Definitely a product for people with less deer pressure- I have about 30 to 50 in the neighborhood at night due to an elderly couple who have been feeding them for about 20 odd years. I’ve calculated- they’ve pissed away tens of thousands of dollars feeding these deer. It’s legal in Texas.

I told my friend who is doing the landscaping that I placed an order last night and will place some around these bushes. Last year and the year before, the deer just sheered the front half of the existing bushes and the blooms were safe in the back closer to the house, It made for some goofy looking bushes.

Therefore, I cannot grow food or decorative flowers. Although it’s frustrating I do not confront them. I don’t think they or me will benefit from my words. Perhaps, they will learn one day why it’s detrimental to the deer and to the humans interfering in nature. Meanwhile, I’m interested in this product and if it still works for you. We have a zoo near us with a lion exhibit. I get the lion manure from the zoo for a few bucks and put it in with my compost. I use the compost with all my plants and haven't had any dear, rabbit , moles, racoons, ground hogs, etc for 6 years since I've used this method. It's cheap, not much work, doesn't stink and works. The lion manure must scare the "poop" out of them and they stay away. It doesn't take a truck load either. Just a couple bushel baskets a year.

Have had it with deer and rabbits. Spray does work, but we have an overhead sprinkler system and between that and intermittent rain, it can easily be washed off. I am slowly removing the plants that attract them, and replacing with plants that laugh at deer and rabbits. It means I can’t have some of my favorites, but I can live with that and I can’t live with half eaten plants that look awful for the season. Dwarf crape Myrtles are good, as are butterfly bushes and astilbe. Alliums have become one of my favorites. It is also expensive to replant, knowing the cost of plant life today. But, I am looking forward to seeing everything flourish and not be dinner for the animal kingdom

I want to try these so badly. And I'm willing to pay the price if they actually work. I've wasted more than $60 or even $120 on plants that have been destroyed by deer. BUT, I watched many other videos and some show the deer getting zapped and instead of jumping and running back in the direction it came, it jumped OVER the zapper and directly into the space the gardener was trying to keep it out of. Have you (or anyone out there reading this) had any experiences like that? I would be mortified if the deer jumped over one plant and ended up trampling the 4 or 6 or 10 plants behind it as it made its frantic exit.

I'm so sorry Meghan! That's so frustrating. I have a bunch at any given time in the yard. They must have a den nearby. Thankfully if they grass is longer, they stick to the clover, but they have also chomped on a few of my plants.

Strategy question: Do you spray/scatter deer repellent in the same area where you place the spikes? Maybe not-you don’t want to deter the deer from encountering the spikes? Please advise!

They should make these with solar chargers like solar lights. Then the batteries would last a whole season or more. 🤔

@@HookedandRooted Thanks for the advice. I am about done with trying to deter them. I have three beds now that they don’t touch and that don’t have to be sprayed. My goal is to have plants I love but that I don’t have to protect. I think I will always keep some that are in danger, I just love them and it’s worth it. But, by and large, my past two years of taking out and replanting have paid off.

BUYERS BE AWARE: After watching this video I bought one set of the fence and set them exactly the same way. But one of the post does not work as it doesn’t spark when testing, the other two posts work so my setup process is correct. Also tried several new batteries and let the post charged for a few days still doesn’t work. So I contacted the seller and they replied asking if I have charged the post for at least an hour which I did and confirmed back to them. After that, no more response at all even after I followed up. It has been two weeks now and I doubt they will get back to me at all. So whether they work for deer or not, you may not even get a good product and there is no customer service to help out. Waste of money!!

I'm happy that I am not the only one who could not locate on Amazon. did order 2 sets from the manufacturer and eagerly awaiting their arrival. I am so wary of having a lovely crop of dayLillies (hosts, and anything else) in full bud and in one night the deer pick off all the buds. GRRRRR. sure wish Amazon had them! I would have them by now.

I like it. Expensive but lasts. I use good rechargeable bats. It would be much better if they used 18650 lithium. Also if the pellets are expensive figure out the scent and use essential oils.

@@sherieharkins2460 Sorry, I haven't tried this system yet. Sounds like the scent is proprietary. I call that the Gillette effect, very expensive usually. My garden only had plants deer don't bother this year. I also used fishing line to some success. If you can get a shot off in their direction it's effective also. And dogs.

U couldve made this for far cheaper. It just charges a capacitor or two. If it takes 20 min, the r prob large caps. It's prob just an rc network, or even just a capacitor and battery. Prob run electrodes through a scent tag or something, maybe a few dollars to build

dont know how to make things like this but it does look smiply like a kids ring sap when we were kids. It looks relly cheap. Plastic shouldn't be expensive. My issue is if you can't find it on Amazon than its not a good product. It looks like something from a person's garage and if it is, one should be able to buy in bulk. They look like 2 dollars to make. 10 bucks a piece at least to sell to people.

Do they work in the winter when deer come to eat everything? Just saying…maybe these things seem to work now in spring because deer are eating normal things other places. When it comes to survival time watch out

@HookedandRooted
@HookedandRooted Жыл бұрын
Hi Jennifer! They did eat a couple of lilies but I didn't have any stakes nearby and missed spraying it. They aren't turning to things they wouldn't normally eat if that's what you mean? I think if they get zapped, they just move along. I will be moving my stakes around soon, too, in hopes it keeps deterring them. I am, however, having an issue with rabbits this year. Something ate the beds off a large clump of anenomes I had. Which is always frustrating.

thanks, I will give these a try. I'm already spending 20-30 dollars on the spray every few months, and then next step would be to install ugly fencing that may or may not work.
