Does this actually work? Slugs can climb wood but I don't know how far away they can smell food. I was thinking of putting copper around the legs as an extra deterrent.

I like you design but please please dont have your "timber" as you call it supported on both sides. This is a great way to have a saw kickback even with that clamp. Cheers from th e US.
