Nice project 👍 Some work now saves a lot more work and headaches later. Frozen pipes are such a pain and never happen when it's convenient. Good video 😊

That was the reason I decided not to put water in my pole barn. I was thinking of putting a hydrant in and blowing out the lines in the fall but with my memory I’d forget and pipes would freeze. Oh well long garden hose works most of the year. Great having friends with tools.👍TCT

I honestly thought I'd keep it heated in there well enough to keep it from freezing. Good thing we busted the old one out. We were gone for a few days and it was in low teen for a few days straight! I would have had a mess!

Good job Mike!! Hate to see you got somewhere, pipes freeze and you have a mess in your shop. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

I will have to keep that in mind for when I decide to turn my shed into a shop and put a sump pit in to be able to wash stuff off in winter.

Definitely go with a hydrant. As soon as you shut it off it all drains back down to the bottom of the pipe. Ours was 60" from the nozzle. So plenty past the freeze line

Hi Mike. That was a lot of work, but I am sure it will be well worth it!

Already paid for itself. We were gone for a few days and it was down in the teen. I would have had a mess if we didn't do what we did. Thanks for watching!

A model 50 is pretty much the max that you can legally move with a pickup. The rental excavator in some of my videos is a model 140 and is moved by lowboy. As its about 35,000lbs with all the added 1/2" steel armor. . The model 50 stands for 5 metric tons, or really close to 5 English long tons. With 0 options like the cab or thumb wider tracks ect ect..... all that stuff adds more weight to the machine. Ship displacement is about the only common use of long tons or converted metric tons, nowadays.

Legal - shmee-gal. 🤣 I didn't run into any Excavator police between Jacob's house and mine. Probably a good thing. You have to start slowing down WAY in advance 🤣

Yup, stiff water tends to tear stuff up.

No frozen pipes for me, thank you very much.

Boy that looked like a lot of work. Frozen water lines not fun either. You did well running the excavator. We will need to start calling you Super Mike. Merry Christmas to you and your family and the pups.
