Enjoying the vids - keep them coming! I appreciate the clarity on the rigs. I would love to hear you talk more about how the tides affect where they are and when they are biting.

Hey Everett nice score on #2 Not sure when you see this post As i am watching this early am Sunday . The 4-26 high tide is at 2:30 pm and runs out to the 7 pm low tide. There is a 3-4 ft WNW swell that will shift to a steep South swell in the same 3-4 size range. later Sunday- Monday with evening tides all this upcoming week. 50/50 deal getting the pier back for MAy again. Fingers crossed and doing a halibut prayer dance hoping.

Nice job man! I need to dedicate some hours to lures. I usually use bloodworms but they're pretty expensive.

Curious do you use the 110s as well or why the 115s. One dive deeper than the other do you use that depending on the conditions?
@thesantacruzsurfcaster62314 жыл бұрын
I like the 115 for distance or when fishing in deeper water. The 110 is more of a finesse presentation with a less aggressive swimming action

Beach is gonna be closed from 11 am to 5 pm as of May 2nd. To many flooded the beaches on 4-26 and did not respect the don't travel rule so the beaches are gonna shut down with these hours . No pier for May 2020. No May repeat for 2020!!!! Next possible reconsideration date is 5-25 and we go from there. If you plan on floating / kayak ETC you can't launch or land during these hours .
@thesantacruzsurfcaster62314 жыл бұрын
Well at least sunrise and sunset are still ok to fish. Also take a look at article 1 section 25 of the state constitution and tell me what you think

@@thesantacruzsurfcaster6231 here on 4-30 we are expected to get a new order from Governor Newsom that our beaches/State parks are going to be closed not just have restricted hours. This info just after the earlier restricted hours posted. RE" Article 1 Section 25 A group of anglers at Moss landing with boats in dry dock having paid 2020 costs and fees, are gonna be allowed to use the Moss landing harbor for the May 1st Salmon opener while the general public will not be allowed such access. Santa Barbara has a seriously large group of anglers who claim fish is part of their basic needs citing a rule of "Eminent domain" and right to use the resource of the ocean as a food source. They plan to fish even if the closures go into full effect. So whats next Is the DFW may be ordered to close fishing to non commercial anglers and issue refunds to license holders and those purchasing special stamps for 2020. Traditionally we have anglers who pay for short term Calif licenses to salmon fish as well as full year resident license holders and associated fees . DFW does not want to refund given their budget shortfalls . This could get very interesting. Eastern Sierra trout anglers and the community which needs the money from seasonal trout fishing visitors are also being hit with closures where this region is fully off limits. The many owners of this region plan on suing for lost income. So does Santa Cruz and its many associated community sue for lost income as well? From what it sounds like a person using the beach while closed may face a $1000 dollar fine and or be arrested in light of the Covid virus issue? Seen decades of angling and some fishing restrictions like the MPA (MARINE PROTECTION ACTS) go into affect under a presidential order from former president Obama but nothing like this, so we are in uncharted waters . I'm writing Jimmy Panetta asking that anglers paying fees and denied use of the resource be compensated .

The 11-5 hours remain in affect no full closures here in Santa Cruz county per the 4-30 Governor Newsom public address . Per Felton head quarters on State parks no one uses the beach 11-5. No kayak launch or surf boards ETC during this time slot. RE: Article 1 Section 25, Moss Landing is gonna let anglers with permits and having boats in dry dock use the harbor on May 1st for the Salmon opener. The Harbor Master has no authority over the County Health Advisor so this seems like a bit of Civil Disobedience by anglers denied the April Salmon opener and also told May has harbor closures at the same time the new season opener date opens. Note there is a massive restriction in Oregon on the take number of salmon so all their Commercial salmon boats will be down here competing for fish.! Anglers said (F) it where getting our share now. Sounds like Citizens vs the State in a Civil war The list of counties who rely on seasonal income from anglers planning to sue Calif is growing daily. WE fish trout in El Dorado county and on the Mokuleme River in San Joaquin county yearly and paid fees for stamps ETC . Lastly we are advised that current closures could go on for months and the DFW as previously mentioned may close recreational angling if needed to solved disputes between the state and recreational anglers. On happier note the harbor jetty has legal halibut but the county 11-5 hours may or may not apply as they have no answer at this time? They can't fine anglers left with undefined rules.

I talked to to the sheriff and It’s seem like fishing from the state beaches is ok even during the off hours. Capitola is supposed to be this way but it seems that the cops kick anyone off the beach or jetties their even during the allotted time to be out. I’ve been going out and haven’t been approached yet even with rangers around so we’ll see

@@thesantacruzsurfcaster6231 State and county apparently wrote 110 beach citations and 109 parking citations over the weekend per the Monday evening news . We saw folks getting busted on New Brighton on Monday for what was deemed non exercise. Angler in a chair, one sitting on a cooler. Capitola wise yes!!!! to overzealous for sure. Did Capitola Beach Monday evening and just a few tosses in got stopped and bugged for no reason. Had my fishing license on a license holder around my and was moving every few casts NB and Capitola still slow on the halibut.
