Another thing that people miss. Commander has no memories before the academic, multiple times he reference how he doesn't remember anything before it. Rapunzel also asks him if they have met before and she is pretty sure she has met him. I think commander is either a clone of the first commander, or a son. if Anderson was the first commander he would have already been identified.
