Debo and her sisters have fascinated me since I was in grade school (I was kinda nerdy). I have always been fascinated by the aristocracy in the UK too. There’s a great video on KZbin called “Debutantes” about the debutante season of 1939. Debo and Andrew were one of the couples that were interviewed. It was a really cute show and was a nice departure from 2020 ❤️.

I completely enjoyed my recent visit to Chatsworth, which I was inspired after seeing the film titled "The Duchess" with Kiera Knightly. The film was based on one of the occupants of the house, Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, who was the great-great-great-grand-aunt of Diana, Princess of Wales. I loved walking the grounds, especially seeing the cascade water fountain that was gravity fed by a pond on top of the hill.

I loved the movie too!!!
@lemorab13 жыл бұрын
I also loved the movie, but I think you should add more "greats" to the aunt. Diana lived in the 20th century and Georgiana lived in the mid-1700's.

Can't believe he is the son of Andrew and Debo. They were so almost modern back then in 1938. Andrew and his cousins were so kinda rebel like. He sounds so posh now, but his dad and his mates/ cousins drove friggen cars like they were immortal, cos that is how kids thought, even 70 years ago. Must remember like they do, Andrew and Debo only became Duke and Duchess of Devonshire because older brother Billy died in WW2. Therefore Deb Mitford became Duchess of Devonshire rather then Kick Kennedy who would have taken that title if Billy, heir of Duke of Devonshire had not died. Having said that, Andrew and Debo deserve it. They done well and have looked after Chatsworth
@lemorab14 жыл бұрын
I think he looks more like Jessica Mitford than either of his parents. Andrew and Debo deserve most of the credit for saving Chatsworth from falling to ruin. Her books are wonderful.

nice place.........ive visited with a sister........we got shouted at for feeling (gently) the fabric on the curtains and tie-backs as we stood inline to see the rooms LOL........the curtains arent original fabric.........and if they dont want folk touching then move the area for queuing well away from the windows and curtain area......i wouldnt visit again as prices were steep for 4 adults to see a couple of rooms.
@mscott39186 жыл бұрын
geoffdundee Not original, but still very expensive. I know it doesn't seem much to touch them, but just imagine if everyone did. The fabric would start to wear out very quickly. When we opened our house we were told by friends who already had that nearly everyone touches things. It's human nature.
