Malaysia is awesome place to visit. We stayed in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi. We used Airbnb and we had free high-speed internet at each stay. We used GRAB with 8 people and never had an issue. It was the best way to get around. The people and the food were amazing. Planning to go again in the near future. Just dreading the long flight from Chicago.

I lived in Penang for a couple of years as a small child in the early 1970s but I’ve never been to KL. I was impressed with how clean Singapore is so I’m imagining that KL may be pretty much the same as Singapore.

We had problems with Grab in Singapore a few years ago. We were using the phones location system and it turned out the Grab drivers couldn't find us. The solution is to look a business name or building as the place the driver will pick you up. In KL we often go to Pavilion mall on Bukit Bintang - we chose our favorite entrance on the Grab map and had no problems

I loved your Malaysian videos. My wife and I have rented a house in Pulau Tikus near the Gurney Plaza Shopping Centre for 10 weeks from December to February. Our adult son and daughter are joining us for 3 weeks. I cannot wait. Again,. thank you for the videos.

Oh I love your videos….. My husband and I went to KL Malaysia. My older daughter lived there with her husband. I spent about a week in the Glen Eagles Hospital. Diverticulitis…little infected pocket in your…my intestine. They were sooooo nice. They couldn’t find a vein in my arm as well as my own doctors here in the US. So it was several hours before I could have pain medicine.

5:53 I had the same problem with the GRAB GPS. It would show our location on the other side of the street, and it's not easy crossing the major thoroughfares. And the drivers weren't patient so they would cancel even though we were on the way to the car.

What up guys ! Other than a few dilemmas on your trip,it sounds like Malaysia was a successful journey. Especially with your friends George,Cat and Leon who" out perform" in the tour guide role 😂 . Ta and I have been busy these days and haven't watched the "Malaysian videos" as of yet but knowing you two I'm sure it was worth the expense. Nonetheless Ta is preparing for her citizenship test and interview and as always I'm working on renovations on the house.Late 2024/25 is our target for selling the house and making our permanent move to😮 Thailand.... preferably the Cha Am area ! However we should be in Thailand around April of 24 for an annual visit with the family and friends. I'll keep you guys up to speed as our flight plans evolve and hopefully this time we can finally hookup for lunch providing our schedules permit . As always keep up the positive videos and by the way Gift you're looking in good health... you too bro 💪. Take care guys see when I see ya !

Malaysia is great to visit as is Indonesia. Hell SE Asia is awesome. However , living in these places is different. I find only thailand or laos are places i can live. Something about living in thailand. Cant be matched. George is awesome. And his mates were cool. You are lucky to have met them and lucky the wives were there to keep you all in line. As for Leo. Im quite used to his style. Fortunate to have learned from that and have received enough and paid rounds as well throughout my life. Its an art. Giving your credit card before others. Go to the toilet and pay before others. Some hefty bills here and there but it works out in the wash. Send leo a gift 🧺 , he was a trooper.

Joe, from Koh Lipe you can take a one hour boat trip to Langkawi. A beautiful Island to stay for a couple of nights. Then from Langkawi you can take the plane (or boat) to Penang.....

It is possible about location issue on apps as what the grab driver said. Another thing is traffic or peak hours. For trains, locals travel around too during public holidays or school holidays. In vietnam too it is like that I heard. So book train tickets earlier. Buses are available.

Hello Gift and Joe, thank you so much for sharing your travels with us, I for one, really appreciate it. Having retired to 11 years ago,Thailand, 11 years ago, my intention was to visit all these neighbouring countries, however, due to the GBP being devalued against the baht when UK left the European Union, pluse the fact that UK State Pensions are frozen at the level they were when one intially resides in Thailand, i.e. 11 years ago, we have no spare money to travel with, so your vlogs enable me to travel without leaving my house 🤣😂 Malaysia looks an interesting place as far as cities go, but I would like to see more of the "real" rural Malaysia perhaps on your next trip 🙂 God bless you both and keep you safe and well. Yes, tend to agree with you that internet in Malaysia are lousy. 5G coverage are still new in Malaysia and only available in big city. About the Grab issue it may be due to traffic too as KL are known with the traffic jam although it may not be as bad as in Bangkok or Jakarta. Next trip to Malaysia you should try to visit other city like Malacca. If you like to relax at the beach perhaps the Island in the east coast of Malaysia like Perhentian Island is one of the option. Anyway hope to meet you when you come to Malaysia again. Have fun and stay safe.

I never had a problem with grab in KL. As for sim card. You should of gone to 7 eleven to get a sim card with data.

Nice video…I agree about KL…great city, been there many times for work, great friendly people, had a good jazz club, but the city is too new…blame the Brits…I also agree with your opinion on Penang, first time I visited was in 1979 (took the train from BKK to Butterworth), and love Georgetown. Penang and Melaka have much more character with old architecture that KL doesn’t have…if you love a clean big city, then KL is for you…I feel the diversity of food in Penang is more than KL since it was a major trade route in the past…visit Malaysia, but go to the smaller cities and islands

There is so many choices to choose from. The benefits of Malaysia, in my opinion, is they speak more English. That being said, there is no place other than Thailand where I rather live.

I do agree the internet in Malaysia sucks. In KL I used Uber and had no issues. I think Malaysia is safer than Thailand but Thailand is more fun and Bangkok is so easy to get around by train although the traffic is horrible.

I think had we used another SIM card we would have had better internet. As for safety, we felt very safe in Malaysia during the 9 days we were there. In the five years I’ve lived in Thailand, I never once had to worry about my own safety. In saying this, no matter the country, everyone should always be aware of their surroundings as some areas may not be as safe as others.

I think you fell into the trap of visiting with friends,George was more or less your tour guide,KL is an amazing City and you should go back,there is so much to do and see,also the Wi-fi in Penang is super fast,it doesn't matter if it's 4G or 5G,it is more to do with your provider and where you are staying,always check you have a router in room or ask before you book,I have stayed in places where you easily get 100Mbs,some hotels charge you a bit extra for faster speeds,

Oh Joe! You missed the best beaches in the world. Next time, head over to perhentian islands. Also, visit Ipoh , getting highlands and Melacca. We lived in Malaysia for 3 years. Great place!

The next time you guys go to Malaysia, think about taking the sleeper train to the border and then business class on the Malaysian rail to Penang. It is super comfortable and reasonably priced.
