This really resonates with me and is something I am trying to do. Unless I am deliberately planning long exposure or seascape photography I don't take a tripod any more. It hit me like a bolt of lightening last year when photographing woodlands. The breeze meant to freeze the branches I had to shoot at 1/250th second which totally negated the need for a tripod.
