I recommend looking into his past and then making a decision whether to watch. Personally I have been on the receiving end of something similar so I decided I can’t. He seems remorseful so it’s perhaps a grey area, up to each person what they’re ok watching, who they’re ok supporting.

as someone who’s worked in fashion media and academia for pretty much my entire adult life (and therefore pretty jaded and burnt out), this was so comforting to watch. i would highly recommend following the writings of fashion journalists too for more critical takes on the industry at large - particularly charlie porter (his writing always feels like a hug), robin givhan, lou stoppard (for more culture-centric stories), tansy hoskins (her book on anti-capitalist ways of thinking about fashion), and rachel tashjian for something semi-fictional, i really enjoyed sleeveless by natasha stagg!

I found my style through thrifting after consuming lots of content of thrifting youtube videos. The first ones for me to watch and to follow were the legendary sisters 'fashion citizens' - they were so nice and down to earth making great outfits and style with the potential they saw in the garments for each one of them. I like watching Laura VonV a thrifter and a reseller of vintage clothes she knows so much, now she diversed fom that to more contemporary clothes, yet she has a great point of view.

the chanels I like for fashion news is Fashion Roadman, Ayo Ojo, and IDeserve Couture, Hanan, both make LOOOONG livestreams discussing collections and fashion news, Ayo make sometimes 6 hours streams about collection and is 3 hours about collection and another 3 hours of "after hours" off topic content. The good part is the livestream part, because you have a live fashion community discussing topics which you normaly only discuss through comments on social media. For me the best live stream is Fashion Roadman is Paris Haute Couture spring summer 2024, the Margiela, Schiaparelli and Simone Rocha JPG, 3 hours. If a livestream is to long after he post the live he make time stamp and sometimes post just the important part of each topic

Anyways I've never had that much connection to high end fashion, I've just never found it that accesable, but I'm always looking towards musical counter culture movements when it comes to learning about style. Highly recommend googling Madchester fashion, which came about during britpop in the early 90s. Some elements of your style really remind me of it :)

I suspect that it isn't quite your aesthetic. However, I have been reading some of the fashion essays written by Gracia Ventus who is a designer for Rosen. Her essays are published on her website the-rosenrot. I remember one essay she wrote ended with her writing, "In the end, we should do well to remember that fashion serves dreams in a material form. It is the job of a designer to make life a little more bearable by protecting the vulnerable self and elevating the good qualities people see in themselves." That quote has stuck with me for a while and has affected the way I view clothes and fashion.

@@percish like you were saying mostly social media (namely Instagram) but I've been trying to tweak my algorithm to move away from streetwear. Another source is my friends as they're still very much interested in streetwear (nothing wrong with that I just wanted to expand my tastes). I've been using the vogue app which wasn't as intimidating as I thought it would be as the reviews make collections a lot more understandable. I've also found Reddit and other forums useful especially when it comes to Japanese Americana as I couldn't find much on it on KZbin, apart from your channel ,Drew Joiner and the casual.

Goodness, that LA Frock Star lady looks like Dita Von Teese! That looks like a fun show. I lived in China for a short time and on a Hong Kong station they had this show (from the UK) called "Fashion Avenue." The host was Jodie Kidd. On every episode, she'd have an event she wanted an outfit for, a budget, and would be in a different European city. I think there's just part of one episode on YT? I loved that show for some reason.

I have some success with AI. "I like these brands and I'm inspired by these things what should I check out next" or "I'm trying to style a varsity jacket with chinos and converse and it's not working what should I try" or you upload a picture of an outfit and ask for a way to change it up or something. It's mixed results so far, sometimes interesting, sometimes really bad, sometimes really good suggestions.

@@percish my prev comment didnt post for some reason. But no it’s not up anymore. Google “bliss foster allegations” then go to images. He went public with a statement confessing to SA against his partner. His partner at the time Lindsey did not ask for him to do that nor was she asked if it was okay to share her trauma or fully talk amongst themselves. Essentially he was trying to cover his ass and of course is super silent on it so you won’t see it anywhere. A lot of ppl don’t like Bliss. Cause of the SA and how awful it is to take the power of someone’s trauma from them in such a scummy way.
