There is one swing for calf roping. There are several different swings for ranch roping to cover all the different situations that happen in real life. The trick to calf roping is keeping the tip down.

A friend of mine washes her wool blankets with shampoo since wool is hair. I imagine shampoo would work for mohair and alpaca cliches too. I’m going to try it and add some conditioner too so it comes out extra soft.

We don’t make rawhide hondos. We buy them from Hermosillo Sonora. To learn, you need to commit a crime that lands you in the prison there where they are made. We like rawhide hondos because a tied hondo twists and a metal hondo is hard on the rope and it’s too fast, whereas a rawhide hondo has the perfect weight and drag.

I used take them to the car wash and give em a good blasting. No soap.

Harold Hunt couple times a year or when we pressure wash the trailer. Cinches and saddle blankets would get cleaned.

The short story is that it depends who is holding the rope. I’ve seen wrecks with both slick horns and rubber on the saddle horn so I won’t profile!

Washing machine. On delicate. Hang to dry. Yes I put my dad’s childhood chaps in the washer.. 88 years of dirt, sweat and oil... they stunk
