You bet Jacob! This was my son's suggestion after seeing so many requests from people who were dealing with being shut in for the pandemic response.

Have my Dad's pocket New Testament, from WW2. Only problem is that the printing is so small, that I need glasses to read it.

Wow CM! That's gotta be a truly treasured item!!! I lost all of mine that they used to give out at the MEPS station and in the field. Still wondering if I'll come across one on one of my old stored boxes. Yours is definitely something to pass down from generation to generation with reverence. Thanks for adding! :-)

solar chargers won't work in a volcanic/nuclear winter, get dynamo/crank chargers, there's some pretty small ones. also diy 9v batteries connected to usb. at home the best is a bike connected to a transformer and a collector, also takes care of exercise and can cut wood and be connected to a diy washing machine. check youtube for these. smartphones will get you tracked

Thanks for the comment Jose. I've never met a dynamo device I like, but I'm open to brand suggestions. For me, they end up becoming a frustrating "prepper workout" (man is my right arm getting HUGE from trying to use this damn flashlight! hahahaha).

Just another potential usage for the playing cards but they can be used for a rudimentary encryption algorithm if you need to pass coordinates covertly; it's called "Pontifex" or the "Solitaire Cipher"

Ooooh... I like that @3nertia! Nice add! :-)

I would strongly discourage listening to music or an audio book while traveling in a shtf scenario, f e m a camps , u n troops, roving gangs, wild dogs etc

Yes, you certainly have to consider your threat levels when in populated areas. And you bring up a serious threat that most people don't consider - packs of feral dogs. In an SHTF scenario, dogs may be abandoned by owners or just become orphaned along the way. Dogs are pack animals and will come together and their instincts to hunt are always there. They'll do anything to survive. I wrote an article about this when Russia held the Olympics. They kicked a bunch of residents out of their homes to build the Olympic Village and many of the residents left dogs behind. It didn't take long for the dogs to come together as a pack and they became quite a problem for locals with vicious attacks. Really good insights Bruce! Thanks for sharing!
