There are some eyewitness stories on reddit (take that for what it’s worth of course). But the few who claim they witnessed it have all pretty much said that Buff was hustling out making a run for it of sorts and claimed he didn’t have time to stop and account for everything because he said he was late for his flight. Another one of the tons of reasons why Buffs version of this doesn’t line up with things. It’s also notable that out of 100+ people there signing things he’s the only one this happened with that I’ve seen. Or even simpler consider that he claims the same issue of having nothing to give people to sign happened with Scott Steiner. Yet I haven’t seen anything out there about Steiner confirming this at all. And when has Steiner ever been one to hold back on how he feels about anything? Everybody else, including these guys, all say the same thing. They got paid some sort of flat fee ahead of time to do the signings and the pictures were provided by the event. And even in the off chance Buff is telling the truth that when he got to his booth there was nothing there to sign, do we really buy that for the hour or however much time he was there signing things for people nobody from the event came to his booth to bring him the pictures he says weren’t provided? I mean after all he says that he had someone tell them and that Steiner didn’t have any either. Multiple people had nothing to sign, and were never brought anything through all that time even after telling the event about it? Or is it more likely that he sold stuff he wasn’t supposed to and then tried to make a run for it without giving the event a cut of the stuff he sold that he wasn’t supposed to sell? I always laugh at this story because everything he says clearly points out that he was trying to pull one over on the event and got caught. Even the thing he said about separating the money in the bag before he went to leave because he knew they’d try to take a cut of it so he took a bunch out to make their cut less. When someone does shit like this, leading to him not being welcome to these events again, I always wonder how much he got doing this versus how much he’d have made by being invited to the future events. I’m guessing his trick was a lot less than what he’d have made had he been at the I think four future events.

But my favorite part of his story, that gets overlooked, is the write you a check for what I owe thing. Not even because of the obvious thing that even if he did write a check it would either bounce or he’d just cancel it before it could be cashed. The thing that always makes me laugh about it is how he thinks Conrad would just know what Buff owes. He sold a bunch of shit for cash, which is in his bag, and somehow Conrad is supposed to know what the events cut of things should be. Maybe in Buffs head he thinks that Conrad would just ask him how much he sold, he’d tell him, and he’d get s figure. Ignoring that nobody would trust whatever figure he told them anyways. Just amazing (and probably sad cause drugs) that he thinks this story is believable or makes any sense at all.

Here is what I think happened. At Starcast. Buff was supposed to be giving the pictures for free. But he was selling them for a fee. When Conrad heard about it. He kicked him out and took his money for breaking the rules. Starcast is a 1 time fee for the people. Buff was double dipping by also charging the people for his merchandise. It gives the event a bad name when people pay to enter for a meet and greet with the understanding that there is no fee for autographs. Only to be hit up by a wrestler doing his own thing. Therefore ... he deserved to get booted.

I came to two conclusions, listening to this: 1) Buff is in bad shape, apparently showing up drunk/stoned for a paid shoot interview. 2) Buff in real life is very much like the character he played in late WCW-obnoxious and uncooperative. I've had financial dealings with Conrad, and you couldn't ask for a more honest guy. And I've never heard of anyone else having an issue with Conrad. In contrast, everyone I've talked to praises his honesty. I have trouble believing he was trying to pull something shady on Buff. I wanted Buff to succeed in WWE. Youd have to believe He had the physique and charismatic Vince just loved. But listening to him talk on Austin's podcast and these other shows you can tell he kinda talks outta his ass. I recall Austin's demeanor kinda changing on the podcast and him questioning Buffs statements on things. It's hard to defend the guy but I still wonder what 2001 to maybe 2005-7 woulda looked like with buff in the WWE had it worked out

I remember him from the Handsome Stranger gimmick in Global Wrestling back in the early ‘90’s. He had the body, ability, and charisma to be a semi main eventer. Gene Bone That would have been a very difficult time to crack into the top of the card. Remember - HHH, Booker T, the Rock, Stone Cold, RVD, the Undertaker, Lesnar, Goldberg and Jericho were there at the time. The mid card was also strong, but Bagwell clearly had the talent to impress and move up the card.

There was such an influx of talent after Vince bought the competition, like way too many cooks in the kitchen. It seemed to me it was either make an impact, or adios amigo. If they had NXT and stayed with the brand split, he more than likely would have stayed around in the “E”. It would have been very cool to see him
