***white woman commenting on black women's hair videos** When I was in cosmetology school the only thing they taught us about curly hair was how to relax it. I'm kind of a nag so I made sure to tell everyone that and I think the schools have changed their curriculum since. I HATED relaxer. You have to work so fast and it's scary and it burns people. I love the results I am seeing with these texturizer videos that the algorithm keeps suggesting though. I have naturally straight hair and perm it to a 3b/c texture so I can have this same effect where I can straighten it easily but when I get it wet it goes back to curls. ***I watch all these videos because I heard about a foster kid chopping off all her hair because her foster parents were white and didn't know how to help her with her hair and I don't want to be that adult that fails a child.** Anyway... texturizer... I wouldn't suggest it to someone with natural curly hair because that seems offensive but I think it's so cool what it does.

I did mine today, and so far I’m in love. My curls are still there but looser easier and easier to manage. I think this is going to be my permanent thing. Itll definitely be easier to grow my hair because it won’t dry out and be like a Brillo pad like my natural hair used to. It didn’t matter how much I deep conditioned or leave in conditioner I put, the next morning it would be a dry Afro.

I love the results. I’ve been thinking about getting a texturizer instead of my usual relaxers cause my hair is also fine and tends to look thin even though it’s really healthy. Thanks for sharing ❤

All my hairstyles comes out with so much shrinkage and stiffness. My hair is dense and fine but when I apply a light amount of product to avoid weighing it down, my hair feels dry. I’m definitely going to texturize my hair after my vacation. I’ll still have curls and obtain the looks I want.

I’m sorry if this comes off as hate, but I don’t like how it looks. It works for what you want, because you wear it straight and not curly, but I think this type of thing works best if you kind of mix it with conditioner and oil according to the texture thats already there. Like if you have mixed textures, apply a more diluted mixture to the looser curls and a more concentrated one to the tighter sections.

I felt the same way about the results. You should’ve just used a relaxer or got your hair pressed. I could tell when she was rinsing it that it was gonna come out like kinky straight virgin hair. At first I thought she missed the point of a “texture”-izer; there’s texture some where on your head but it looks like being able to slick it into a basic black girl bun was her goal.

So you recommend blowing your hair out first before putting texturizer? It didn’t look curly before the texturizer. And did you have any product in your hair before the texturizer?

Please don’t do it yourself, at ALL. Go to the salon, it’s $80 for a Virgin texturizer, it’s better to have these things done professionally, so you can have peace of mind, PLUS they’ll give you a trim/shape and set you in the right direction.

I had put the just for me curl softener in my 3c/4a hair and brushed it through on one while leaving it for 12 minuets. Part of my crown in super straight with curly ends cause it was just a touch up :( will the straight roots revert back to curly within a few months or is it a permanent thing I will be dealing with? It’s currently been one month and I’ve only seen a little change in my texture reverting to curly.

Think about this and it will take you a long way. Hair that has been previously texturized should NEVER be texturized ever again because then youre straightening it. Only the new growth ie ROOTS should be texturized because its your new hair. Edges last and only about 2 minutes. Do a strand test. Set timer. Add the product to your ROOTS ONLY and closely watch how the roots stretch out and once its stretched a little (texturized) the stop the timer and wash product out. This will tell YOU how long and how fast YOU need to apply the product and how long it should sit on your ROOTS. You out here about to have people losing hair with this process.

You was combing your hair too rough with the texturizer in it. Too much of your hair also came out. I also think you left it in too long. With all the curling creams and natural products they made for us that makes our hair soft, you don't need a relaxer or texturizer in it.

Real talk peeps, what the hell is "TexLax"? I am 50+ years old and back in the day when we wanted to get a comb through our hair smooth and clean without having a cry feast we either relaxed our hair or did a semi-relaxed hair procedure where we left the perm product in for less time. These millennials are killing me with this "TexLax" crap. Don't get me wrong, I am all about a woman making her coin but really, to me it sounds like all they are doing is re-inventing the wheel. Let's call a spade a spade, at the end of the day all they are doing is putting some perm in their hair to relax the texture, and just like a straight-out perm, there are issues that occur when you decide to stray from natural hair to permed hair period. Do your thang girl, and keep pushing your channel it's cool, but I wish everyone would stop pushing this "TexLax" crap like it's something new. Black hair is beautiful in its natural state, but for those who have not found their groove, I get it and rock your style, we are queens and every other culture wants to do what we can do. Peace and Love!

Nobody said this method is new. They use the term "texlax" because the hair isn't relaxed bone straight. They are under processing the hair with a relaxer or texturizer(which is literally a very mild relaxer), and they came up with a term for it. There nothing hard to understand about it IMO.

It’s called a Texlax because it basically sounds less intimidating lol. The texture has only been slightly relaxed to not be completely straight so the words come together quite perfectly actually. I’ve been hearing it as texlax for over 10+ years now. I get what you’re saying though.
